Well, our last basketball and football season will do that to you. I wonder how we fared last year in those rankings? Any idea?

Interesting post! But we have to remember that basketball (and other sports) do remain a factor in conference realignment.

And worst case scenario, what if UCF leaves us behind and reaches the P5 before us. I guarantee you that they will drop all of the 'rivalry talk' and attempt to forge new competitions with stronger programs.

Hopefully, that never happens - because I see USF as a more determined program (given the relatively short history). 

 

 

Trolls are getting active on the board. Negative USF comments from newer posters. Many started a year or so ago when they knew they were getting into the same conference.

Not hard to figure out who they are when they post. Less than 2 years on board, low post count, passive aggressive posts, slide in negative OCS comments, occasional UCF positive comments, slam our team coaches programs campus school etc, but in a more subtle way. Throw in the occasional positive post about some benign USF related thing to keep from being ID'ed..... During recruiting, were quick to slam a possible recruit or parent of a recruit in hopes the recruit would read the board and get pissed. Yes, that happened a lot, go back and read those posts on the board closely.

I'd estimate we have at least 20 posters on here that are clear UCF sleepers trying to build post counts. I may sound paranoid but I am aware of at least a few UCF guys who spend a lot of their efforts on hating everything USF. UCF hardcore fans obsess over USF. Though we don't reciprocate, which pisses them off more. Need evidence, just look at the Grothe/UCF issues with him and his dad and texts to his cell. You cannot get 100's of texts from people, including threats, unless they obsess about you. Flip that circumstance around and it would not have happened from USF to UCF. 4 - 0 must bring out the best and worst in people.

Some of you may think I am paranoid. Maybe a little. But if you really look at it with an open eye and review posts for some of these folks, you will see what I mean.

Why do I care? I have been here since 2001 and enjoy a community of like minded USF supporters. Through good and bad, we have shared our opinions and love for everything USF related. We were under the radar, and things were good. But now we have an opposing fan base to the East who are in our conference and cannot seem to worry about their own program. To make their point, everything they do is in relation to USF. BHNS vs RJS, CUSA vs BE, GPA for entering freshman, etc..... It is like we are the benchmark they aspire to. We are like the little brother who over-achieved and they are the jealous big brother who didn't live up to the parents expectations. They cannot feel good about their program without finding something wrong with USF.

Okay, enough with my ranting. I just ask our true USF friends to keep up with "questioning" those posters who seem suspicious, because they probably are.

I hope that CWT produces the correct results (along with another BB tourney appearance)... Just so we can receive an invite to the Big12 WITHOUT UCF - so I no longer have to hear this board (and every UCF fan) say that we need them. 

I was expecting it to say Big 12... Like it was an information leak.

To be honest, I just want to beat every Florida team (along with Rutgers) - and have at least a 4 game winning season. This is a rebuilding year, and I felt as though the article laid it down straight for us. It really doesn't bother me, since our program is so young. We are an amazing team in the modern 'era' of football and I am confident that we are slowly  quickly building a major legacy. 

BTW, according to Wikipedia: for a team that is only 18 seasons in, we have a pretty good Win-Loss percentage. Best in the AAC, despite the 3-9 2012 season.

Maybe, but I think his assessment was pretty accurate for this coming season. 

I still believe that the UM - USF (and then FSU - USF game) - are far more important for us to focus on. Both of those games will bring in more fans, revenue, and exposure. We need to beat UCiF (along with every other conference foe), and look ahead to bigger and better deals. 

Rutgers and Louisville didn't need to market themselves with a companion school to get into a better conference. We really don't need UCiF to get ahead. 

So, who's excited about the FAU - FIU rivalry! Same conference (G5), same markets, etc.... 

yawn... That is how the rest of the country sees the USF UCF games...

I guess this just pushes an event to outside the stadium instead of inside.Att Crowds still gather at the stadium gates immediately before and after games. Safety is not significantly increased if at all, while the inconvenience is increased by quite a lot.

 

Terrorists want TV coverage when it happens, ie finish lines. Not much coverage outside stadiums, the cameras are all inside. Plus thousands aren't sitting inches apart in the parking lot. And if that becomes a concern, expect more parking lot security with cars being screened, etc..

 

Not really; terrorist want credit more than anything. Most bombings are not on camera, but rather the aftermath of the event is what's important. Attacking inside or outside a stadium does not matter as much as the desired effect: high collateral. 

Special safety precautions are always best; but in this case, it actually hurts the consumer more than anything. So - look on the bright side - USF Bulls can rest assured that we have one of the safest stadiums in college football. 

Honestly don't care about UCF. We need to beat them, like we need to beat every team. I really want to win the Miami game this year, and the FSU games the following year. I just want us to win. Let UCF wallow in their desire for a rivalry, and I won't complain as long as we continue to play hard and win. 

P5... I am really not excited about the 2014 season in the AAC. I believe that there are more potential earnings from being in a P5 than an OCS.

Ohio State still had a few top rated returning starters; and Meyer brought in top level talent. I mean, this was not an unbalanced team to begin with. But I see your point, and their success gives me some hope with CWT!

But it would be nice to have a shortened named that is unique; similar to Ole Miss or Uconn (which actually became official), Bama, 'Noles, etc... Anything...
