  1. Time will tell. The future looks bright but it did in 2010 also. Recruiting for football is looking very promising in June, hoping it stays that way until Feb. 2014. On paper we look better, but it's going to come down to whether or not players can execute the new schemes. I'm confident in our coaches' ability to coach the guys up.

Basketball, I am not all that up on so ill leave that to others to declare.

    This.

Didn't Taggart try to get it moved? I imagine contractual or monetary issues are to blame for it staying in Vero this year.

This was my best guess, too.  Maybe we had a deal with them (Vero Facilities Mgmt.) that was stupid expensive to back out of.

It seems as if it is just for one year. They probably did have some contracts to work out.

#USF football will come back to Vero Beach for training camp Aug. 10-17 according to VBSV vice president Craig Callan. One-year deal signed

It is going to be for a shorter length of time than in the past.

  3. Sat., Aug. 31 McNeese State at USF 7:00 p.m. ESPN3 Sat., Sep. 14 Florida Atlantic at USF 7:00 p.m. ESPN3

I mean..  can you blame them? Those are not exciting games.

Sat., Sep. 7 USF at Michigan State 12:00 p.m. ESPN2 or ESPNU Thu., Oct. 31 USF at Houston 7:00 p.m. ESPN Fri., Nov. 29 USF at UCF TBA ABC, ESPN or ESPN2

Those are fair. Granted I wish we didn't have to play on Thursday either but at least it is televised, and we get good face time while everyone is with family drinking beer and eating turkey leftovers while the ladies are out shopping.

I know overall the AAC television schedule sucks but so far it seems decent for USF. We (and the rest of the AAC) Just need to go out there an win, that will draw the attention.

Squire Bone: Good sir, how are you? I hope all is well. I write to you to inquire about our mutual friend, Sire Griffin.

Duke Bivins: Our good friend Sterling is no longer with us for he has transferred to Louisiana Technical University.

Squire Bone: Good heavens! Oh lamentable day. If it is not too bold to ask, what occurred that would cause such a decision? He indubitably does not want to find himself subject to rules regarding intra-division transfers, does he? He assuredly would have to forgo a season of playing handegg!

Page KRock: Lords Bone and Bivins, Sire Griffin would not have to forgo a season of play as he will be graduating this summer; he will be immediately available for Louisiana Technical University, pip pip.

Duke Bivins: Squire Bone, Sire Griffin expressed that the coaching staff was his reason for making the decision.

    1) ^^ That **** was funny.

    2) SG was a good player and he would have been good to have, however long term I really really like where Taggart is taking this team attitude wise. This work ethic will get results on the field, hopefully we will see some of it this season.

From what I'm sensing, the Willie Taggart effect on recruiting is pretty real. It's not some imagined phenomenon manufactured by optimistic fans and the media who cater to them. He has an effect on these recruits.

Naturally the mystique will diminish once he loses some games in 2013. Things may be looking up in the future but at present I'm still worried like hell about the QB situation, and the backbone of a Taggart offense is the power offense and I'm still not sure that's built to sustain itself through the season. Games will be lost. He needs to strike while the iron is hot and pull in these commitments now.

Have to respectfully disagree with your assessment.  If Holtz did anything right, he recruited O-line.  We do not need a superior running back.  As matter of fact we were quite successful running with Coach  Skippy.  It is when he got behind and the defense could not hold games that it broke down.  So I say having Bench Manage the game and score three touchdowns is all we need. This team is about defense.  There will be close games but I believe with our defense we are poised to win 9 games in this year. Yes you heard it here first. I am more concerned about losing to Cincinnati than I am Michigan St.  Other than that I really think we have a chance to win every other game.  Defense is where I am putting my hat on this year.  The offense will be average at worst and stellar at best. The Defense will be awesome. Dbacks do not matter as much when the Dline is penetrating every time.

    Have to agree with Bullrush33

I think we could have been way more competitive last year than the coaching allowed.

do we forget that the almighty Louisville last year was a very close game? http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2012/10/20/3531716/louisville-usf-2012-score-results

Just two years ago we only lost 1 game by more than a score. We have the players capable of making a decent if not great season we just need the right motivation and direction. I am buying into Taggart and I think we are going to do good things this year. Sadly our competition this year is taking a step back and I can see us realistically going 6-7 wins, and possibly even 8. Only time will tell but I can't wait for our Bulls to take the field.

As a college stadium; ray jay blows....

As a football stadium... It's great

I'd say that's it. That's exactly the situation.

Why? because it does not have our school colors? Because it has a pirate ship? Because it is too big?

Granted it is not perfect. However for a team that has been playing for going on 17 years I think it is a great place to play for where we are at. As far as filling it, that will take time as our fan base grows. I think there will be a time we really enjoy being able to pack 67k into stadium rather then being limited to 40-50k like some true "college stadiums"

  7. I thought you were supposed to stand throughout the entire game. What's all this talk about seating?

I do actually stand for most of the game, but during time outs, half time etc I usually take a break. Granted I am usually in the A/C clubhouse during half time... Anyways my Mother, and Grandfather who I usually take to the games aren't quite as comfortable standing for hours like us youngsters. I am very proud to play in RJS. About the seats it would be nice if RJS as part of a new lease agreed to change the seat backs to a Neutral color, perhaps a bronze/gold color scheme that is a similar color between the two teams.  Another thing that would be nice is if the student body got together and had a group put green covers on the 3rd bowl for smaller games at are not sold out. could be as simple as old run bulls shirts, leftover stock whatever. I will say when that stadium does sell out is is quite impressive selling 62k+ seats. I know it has only happened a few times but lets build the program. The worst part about the Bulls fan base regardless of where we play is that a good portion of the fans leave in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Even if the game is a slam dunk or a blow out. I make sure my 4 or so seats are always filled to the end. (well except for that game against Pitt last year... but that is a different story)

  8. I guess I am in the minority, but even when I was a student driving to Ray Jay and tailgating was an awesome experience. Ray Jay is easy to access from all of Tampa bay area (I now live in St Pete) and has great Amenities. If you haven't donated enough to get access to seats with the club level you are missing out! I am going into my second season as a season ticket holder and lover the experience Ray Jay offers. Unfortunately   I have not had the chance to experience many away games other then Miami who also play in an NFL stadium which is definitely not up to the standards of Ray Jay. I know if an OCS only had bleacher style seats with no backs that would definitely not be as impressive. I am not looking forward to the away game at UCF at all due to their amenities.
