  1. Tampa is a transient community and those who move here are often very unlikely to transfer their allegiance. Thus we have all the Red Sox/Yankees fans for baseball. Lots of FSU/UF grads on the college football side. The teams here are young for the most part, with only the Bucs old enough to have adults who grew up with the team, the Lightning just starting to reach that point. Gary Bettman in defending the Phoenix Coyotes says it takes a generation to build a fan base. The Lightning are probably the most consistent attendance wise. The Rays attendance woes are national news in the baseball community and we've seen Bucs attendance plummet as the team has tanked. You may call it excuses, I call it the reality of the situation.

     

    Personally I think 20k in the seats to watch the USF Bulls at this point is pretty darn impressive.
