Mogridge
Sims
Da Prato
Maybe Trickett
Who else?
Definitely not the S&C coach...

This Frost stuff has got to stop ..... He is Chuck 2.0 and the only rebuild he did at UCF was bring in MM. The Kanigits were 21-5 the two years previous to their 0fer. The foundation was already there.
Frost did build the offense that they have been running ever since. With that said, I'm against the hire. He still has affinity for Oviedo. I'd rather go back to the days that they didn't exist.

If USF hires Leavitt again, it means it's a final hail mary before folding the program.

So Jeff Scott sold his house on BB Downs last year. Did he buy elsewhere, or rent? He may have been prepping for this for a while now.

Clemson fans are clamoring for him to return.
Would be great for him. He's a quality human being.
Should also be good for us, as hopefully his contract is structured so that his buyout would be offset by another coaching position.

Problem with getting other G5 coaches is they might be able to just go to a p5 team so why go to another G5 team.
Might have to follow the model that's worked with UCF. Former p5 coach that was fired for unrealistic expectations of winning....or top ranked OC from a high power P5 offense.
UCF has been successful because even though they've had 3 different HCs, they persisted what worked. Our hires have flipped the progrum on its head 3 times over.

No, Deion! I know that is unlikely unfortunately.
He would be a grand slam, but he has the $$$ programs salivating over him. He'll probably sign with Auburn for $12mil/yr...

But would firing him just push us back 3 more years? We don't have endless millions to pay coaches to not coach. The contract extension was unforgivable. We did the same thing to Skip...

...to me it comes down to recruiting. If Jeff Scott can pull in a top 50 class, then he give him another year. Our 2014 class which contained Q, was ranked in the mid 40's & let to our best team ever in 2017, arguably (even with Strong squandering it).
He has to let Shoop go though. Former NFL coordinators do not translate well to college. For him to constantly complain about missed assignments while not simplifying the defense shows it. He had had a year & the players are consistently out of position. Let Ernie Sims call the plays, or bring in an up and comer with some fire.
Now, I'm ready for the firing squad...

We should lose that requirement, for sure. I don't recall us having this kind of standard during Betty's watch, and we were better off.
It was dropped years ago

This is all part of coach Scott's plan

Judy enforced the higher academic standards to signees. We've had many that were fully qualified, but didn't pass the academic committee, then they signed with blue blood programs. Hell, UF, FSU & UM were signing kids that could barely talk let alone read...

USF Foundation is a "direct support organization" for a state university. DSO contracts are specifically exempted from sunshine laws. They are still a public entity.
Meh, there are those that say we probably can't do that, and they are those that say nothing says we can't do that somehow. If you were the CEO of Uber or Tesla, neither would exist.

Zero.
Florida law prohibits universities from paying NIL rights. You're suggesting that USF should break the law and then sue the state when they are penalized for breaking the law?
USF Foundation is not a state entity. Have you forgotten that the current and past coaches have (had) secret contracts outside of the states's sunshine laws?
-
Disagree, I'd rather the USF Foundation lawyer up & push the NIL envelope rather than firing a bunch of people and paying them to do nothing. How many 4 & 5 stars could the USF Foundation endorse instead of paying ex-coaches?
-
That's a lot of 5 star recruits that could be *signed* instead...

What stuck out the most to me was when Shoop asked if it was just 2 reporters on the call, and someone said they thought there was a 3rd...

Our last bowl appearance. Everything went downhill during & after that season to say the least lol
I was there. It was miserable for sure.

If the defense can be fixed, we have a shot. The last good defensive performance was in oviedo last year. Was it Sims & La Prato, or just the opponent? Is the play caller still a problem?
-
Hired a different coach that continued the system, even TJ Weist.
This is why CF has been able to maintain through 3 different coaches. They aren't upending their program every 3 years like we are.

The DBs are falling over themselves with zero effort in tackling. Its very sad. Probably the single worst unit USF has ever fielded at any position group
I'd have to agree with this. They are just warm bodies out there.

Not true, go back and read Mike Kelly's quote. I'll paraphrase: "Future coaching decisions will be made by fanboys on chatboards".
