  1. I admit I didn't know who this was.

After some research and off the cuff I think it may make the most sense (as a viable option) for a handful of reasons...

    1. We end up firirng Skip year end and pay the buy out, this guy would be affodable.

    2. Let's see how he finishes the season, appears to be turning things around at WKU. Hell, if the argument is experience look no further than gap tooth Shiano. Man got an NFL HC gig after what...turning around a crap team and pounding us a few time. If Skip loses out this year would this guy have done the same, worse or better?

    3. Sometimes inexperience can be your friend, there is a ton of psychology behind this.

    4. RECRUITING. Could be questionable but after looking, this may be a guy who knows a lot of people in Florida. He is 35, that means not a huge generation gap or lack of touch in the Florida recruiting seen, which we all know needs to be better. I think he would be plugged in very quickly and recieved well by coaches and players.

For now Skippy is at the helm so we can't really even play this game. Sucks to be US!

as far as recruiting, he went to manatee-bradenton high school. currently the #1 high school football team in america according to usa today and others. the same manatee-bradenton high school were skip rescinded a scholarship offer and burned bridges with the coaches there.

There was more to it than Skip just resinding that scholarship to Brion Carnes. Cocach Kinnan and Brion played a big part in what happened during this whole back and forth and Brion not making up his mind until he knew what was going on at Nebraska. I don't blame Skip for what he did with the scholarship as he needed to fill it and Brion couldn't make up his mind to commit or not. The bridge is not burned and you can bet that USF will still get some talent from Manatee High. Besides Coach Kinnan is a very hard headed individual at times and was upset at the time. If Manatee repeats as Champs in 7A this year, Joe will likely retire with his five rings and the team will hopefully be turned over to Rod Frazier. When this happens there will be plenty of chance to recruit and Willie T won't be needed. I wouldn't leave Western to come to USF anyway based on the fan base and how we all want instant success. Just my two cents.......

  2. I might be wrong but with Skip only being in his third year, aren't most of our seniors from the Jimmy Era? Skip took a team from Carolina and did good things there. I laugh at how quick fans turn on coches so quick. Let's not forget that when there is a big win its the student athletes that did it and the coach had nothing or little to do with it. Coaches will always be blammed for losses and losing streaks. Give Skip some time and let him bring in kids that fit his style of play. I think everyone got so spoiled by the (non-deserving) ranking we got a few years back. No way we should have ever been ranked that high and it showed when the wheels fell off. The Tampa Bay area is one of the biggest fair-weather fan base I have ever been a part of. I agree with Trip B, let's go ahead and make the entire (true) USF fan base look like idiots on national television. Makes perfect sense and I'm sure the nation would get plenty of laughs out of it. Hell we may even get some teams like Texas and Bama to schedule us as tune-up games and that might increase season ticket sales. Sit back, relax, grab a cold bev, and enjoy being able to watch college football without having to worry about your house being hit by an RPG or all the all garbage going on accross this world. If we beat FSU this weekend, can we give some people on here a "time-out?"

I won't even get into the rest of this post, but I'm sorry, this is something that so many fans are just completely wrong on. We 100% deserved that ranking AT THAT TIME. Preseason rankings are undeserved because they are based on conjecture. Rankings in week 5, 6, 7, etc.... primarily are based on results on the field. Which they should be. At that time, no one in the country had a better resume than us. We we're 6-0, with 2 victories over top 20 teams, and blow out victories over UNC and UCF. Yes, we did not end up being the second best team in the country for the whole 2007 year, and the ranking beared that out. You can say that by the end of the year, that ranking turned out to be inacurrate, but to say it was "non-deserving" is just flat out wrong. Maybe this is splitting hairs, but just the way I feel.

What team have you ever seen jump from 18 to 6 in a poll just because of a previous win!?!?!? Then only fall from 2 to 20 with back to back losses?

Ah, Stanford just jumped from 21 to 9 this year after one victory. Kansas St 15 to 7 with one victory. Notre Dame 20 to 11 with one victory. Teams making big jumps in the polls based off one victory happens all the time, every year.

And as far as dropping, Cal dropped from 2 to "only" 18 after back to back losses that very same year(2007). FSU dropped from 5th to 23rd last year after back to back losses. Again, this isn't something out of the norm.

So you agree on those teams deserving their rankings then?

At those times, sure. Cal was number 2 at the time while being 5-0 and coming off a victory over #11 Oregon on the road. Stanfords jumped this year based on results on the field (victory over a top 10 USC), same with Notre Dame (back to back victories over ranked Mich St & Mich).

Please explain what exactly the pollsters should be ranking anyone on if not based on the on-field results?

So you're telling me that if the Bulls would have won out, they would have put them in the NC Game over LSU or USC? I think that the people voting in these polls want to be more of "I called it" people then actually who the top 25 teams are. There is no way I would pick an undefeated USF team over a one loss SEC team any day based on two wins against top 25 teams and a blow-out over a sorry UCF team to be in the title game. I love USF and all but the polls and the BCS system are garbage.

Just giving my opinion and that I don't feel all these jumps are deserved. I now it's not worth anything but just how I feel. In 2007, Michigan looses to an FCS school (granted I loved it) and falls out of the top 25 only to return after beating some B10 teams? They should have not been allowed back in after that "on field" result.

  5. I would think that those who donate $10K+ that hosts meet and greets will not be so happy.

We NEED these donors to be unhappy - as I am sure they would be - with another losing season.

    Go Bulls !!

I was trying to check your blog but it seems to not be funtional. Did you upset the donors too?

  7. Let's worry about getting our stadium full of as much green and gold as possible. I don't care what time the game is on. Any given Saturday is my philosophy for this one. Let's beat Ball St., and let the chips fall where they may for FSU.

Any given Saturday is right. Look at Notre Dame last year.. they beat the crap out of us up and down the field, but with all the turnovers they had, we won a close game. Anything can happen.

Heck when in doubt pray for a weather delay or two or three. Would have been nice if ND Stadium sold cold ones and didn't run out of water that day!

  8. Are you kidding? If Manning is half the QB he was, he'd still be twice the QB Tebow is.

manning will not make it thru the season

Sure he will. Just not sure if it will be in street clothes or his uni. I wonder how that neck will hold up in the cold and I don't see anyone wanting to be the person who hits Manning in the shoulder blades and ends his carrer. I see teams backing off when they play him. Just sayin.......

No one wants to end his career, but I disagree - it's the NFL - guys on other teams don't back off the opposing QB - especially when the QB is Peyton Manning.

Only time will tell I guess....

  10. I might be in. SW has tickets non-stop for $321 which is a great deal. Love road games. Last year in South Bend was epic with eveything that happened.

Anybody planning on going to Philly? I might be going to this one. Family in the area, etc.
