    I love this one.

Memphis is a great fit in the Big 12.  Oh by the way, we'll need to spend $500 million in order to get our academics and facilities up to Big 12 standards.  But, hey, we're a great fit other than the fact that we need to spend half a billion dollars over five years to get close to Big 12 standards.

The check is in the mail.  Really.

    http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/sec-football/report-memphis-willing-spend-500-million-upgrades-join-big-12/

$500 M is what Baylor put into Sports with new facility and TCU is going big on build out.

WVU is updating both football and basketball, so yes $500M is not out of the realm.

Cincy's big issue is football stadium holds 40k, otherwise they go to Bengals stadium.  USF has Ray Jay and no other.

  2. FEDEX got Gee on board with $ - this is not history repeating itself - FEDEX is shelling it out now

FedEx vows major Big 12 sponsorship as boost to Memphis bid

The ESPN.com report also says Memphis vowed to make a $500 million investment in academic and athletic infrastructure during the next five years — an amount that President M. David Rudd has publicly touted, including in a December 2015 blog post, as already under way.

The report — compiled from documents sent to West Virginia president Gordon Gee, one of three members of the Big 12 composition committee — detailed FedEx's involvement. In a letter Smith wrote to Rudd in late February, Smith said FedEx would be willing to support the expansion bid by becoming a major sponsor of conference football and basketball, including sponsorship of a Big 12 football championship game. Rudd sent his letter, and the letter from Smith, to Gee. Two other members of the Big 12's composition committee — Oklahoma president David Boren and Baylor president Ken Starr — were copied on the documents.

  3. TCU should get in before Baylor - Baylor played no one in OOC - TCU beat a Minnesota team playing in BIG Championship, TCU had Baylor beat by 21 and got wore out in 4th quarter.

Baylor lost to WVU 41-27,  TCU lost to Baylor 61-58, Baylor barely beat TCU this weekend 48-46 and will get beat this week by Kansas ST

TCU laid somewhat of an egg to to Kansas a few weeks back but other than that more impressive wins.

    My hope is total casious

    Bama beats Mizzou

    Wisconsin beats OSU

    Ga Tech beats Florida State

    Arizona Beats Oregon

  4. That point is being made this year, as Marshall will go 12-0 and isn't even ranked #25 or better. Colorado State has 1 loss and a better schedule and wins (CU and BC) than Marshall, and aren't getting any love, and neither is Boise State, quietly putting together a good season as well and handed Colorado State their only loss so far (a 3 pointer in week 2 I think).

According to Sagarin, Marshall's SOS is 141, worse than 13 FCS teams. So, there's that.

  5.

Chuck Landon: Big 12 may set wheel in motion if it adds schools

USF, UCF, ECU, and Cincy to BIG 12

    http://www.herald-dispatch.com/sports/x2064759526/Big-12-may-set-wheel-in-motion-if-it-adds-schools

So, if we have TuxedoYoda and OverallYoda, is this guy the ToothlessYoda?

Landon is a Herd lover any thing he writes about WVU is to get viewership - he knows nothing, actually I would listen to Yoda first.

  6. Burden of proof is on us. We will be evaluated in 5-7 years as prospective members. We better have some hardware, some revenue, and some packed seats by then.

Depends on how much money is added to contract - Right now TCU and WVU is in 3rd year of Big 12 Contract and thus gets 80% of the $20 million, the first 2 years was 50%, 67% - next year 100%

How much is USF, UCF willing to forego to get in.

10 Teams x $20mil a team = $200 mil contract - Add 2 teams the other 10 teams need ~$22 mil ($220) then the 2 new teams get paid.  So is USF and UCF willing to accept $5 million a piece to join bringing the contract to $230 million and would FOX pay another $30 Million out for this?

  7.

They should get a playoff spot unless there are more than 4 undefeated teams.

Wasn't one purpose of the playoff so undefeated teams won't be left out?

    No.

Marshall can't control their schedule, only what they can do against that schedule, but even if they go undefeated, nobody (outside of WV) believes they're one of the 4 best teams in the country.

Tallest dwarf is still a dwarf

    & Including 90% of WV

  8. I guess Whit babcock needs to get his act together. Selling Bearcat tickets on Groupon for a nationally televised night game against a conference opponent? And worse, he gave them a CHOICE!

Or perhaps these are methods that all American schools will have to resort to at some time or another.

Whit is at Va Tech now, and he is a very good businessman - he really did a good job there in the time he was at Cincy.

  9. Hello old thread

Nobody in AAC adds value to TV contract right now thus no expansion.  I think we sit still for 5-7 years when the TV contracts get close and the see how the 2+1 Playoffs work.  Ultimately I see us going to Division 64 (4-16s for TV Contracts) team leagues with a 4 (as Conference champ)-2-1 playoff coming.

This means the Big 12 is done - and is broken up with Pac, B1G getting most and WVU headed ACC or SEC.

The question is who is the 64? and thus the 4-6 teams coming along for the ride.

  10. I want 12 for Football schools, would love to have USF/UCF combo for Florida but I like the 10 schools for Bball since the Big12 worked out WVs travel schedule for basketball which is the harder to deal with do to the number of games and revolving weekday games.

I still think if/when Big12 goes to 12 its Boise St and BYU as football members only and if this does not happen in 5-7 years the Power 5 Becomes the Power 4 with Big12 splitting into the PAC, B1G, SEC & ACC.

  11. Bitpay is pushing the Bitcoin Bowl hard, as they should.

    Bitcoin Bowl â€@BitcoinBowl 5m

What game are you looking forward to the most this #collegefootball season? SHARE your thoughts with us! #btcbowl

If you are serious about looking into / investing into Bitcoin send me a message, as I said I have been in game for about a year, and worked some 401k money over to be able to buy the possible upcoming ETF "COIN" that SEC is reviewing, my estimated ETA is 2-3 months.

And yes I am a fan of gold and silver but now for an emergency - ie a Nuke or Solar Flare, at that point I want gold, silver, guns and ammo.
