  1. The mighty SEC isn’t looking that great right now.

This tournament is showing why NET is flawed. These high NET teams just play more games against each other so when they lose it doesn’t hurt them and when they win it gives them a big boost. More than half the teams in a conference shouldn’t make a tournament and if you finish under .500 in conference play you shouldn’t make it.

It’s only gonna get worse as the gap between the big and small conferences grows.

FAU OOC wins = Loyola Chi, Butler, Tex AM, Arizona, VA Tech, plus they went to the Final 4 a year ago

USF wasn’t as impressive because they beat teams in a bad conference (AAC) yet FAU failed to finish first and didn’t win the tournament in the same conference.

It looks like even if we went undefeated in conference play we still wouldn’t have been selected.

  3. ****, FAU losing to Temple really makes our loss hurt more. All we had to do was beat ECU, UAB and Temple.

The amount of top seeds going down in conference tournaments shows what a joke it is putting more weight in a week long tournament than a full conference schedule.

Has a  regular season AAC champ ever been kept out of the tournament? I’m assuming USF will be the first.

  4. Such a shame it had to end like this. Would have loved to see this team make the tourney.

Had 0 expectations coming into the season and was pretty much checked out on USF basketball. Might be controversial, but I think this is is the best USF team I have ever seen (didn’t follow before 2008). The 2012 run was fun but this team was more impressive.

    FAU is currently 33

Since 2018, one criterion for determining selection to the NCAA Tournament has been performance against certain RPI quadrants. Typically, a quadrant 1 win is considered a "good win", while a quadrant 4 loss is considered a "bad loss". The quadrants are defined as follows:

    • Quadrant 1: Home games vs. RPI teams ranked in the top 30; neutral games vs. 1-50; away games vs. 1-75.
    • Quadrant 2: Home vs. 31-75 teams; neutral vs. 51-100; away vs. 76-135.
    • Quadrant 3: Home vs. 76-160 teams; neutral vs. 101-200; away vs. 136-240.
    • Quadrant 4: Home vs. 161-plus teams; neutral vs. 201-plus; away vs. 241-plus.[8]

The quadrant system is still in use under the new NET system, with RPI ranking replaced by NET ranking

And yet FAU is currently a lock for the tournament even though they lost 4 games in this godawful conference. NET is so dumb.
