usf's first coach that did a great job as the first coach but he couldnt win consistently and he let his ego get the best of him
eventually the allegation goes he struck a student athlete
usf football is still evolving and is bigger than one person
I was being sarcastic and forgot to followup with another post.
In all seriousness, the CJL days wer A LOT of fun. Especially, attending games in person.
That being said, probably the minority on this but glad we didn't hire him and don't really care what he thinks, where he goes, or his future endeavors.

Who is Jim Leavtt?

Anticipation is over the top! Hey @Brad how many new Penners' have signed up since hiring CJS?
All the new folks are Clemson fans. Not that it is a bad thing, just throwing that out there.

A lot of people speculate Dabo would go to Bama but if these Clemson guys (including Scott) are so different why would Dabo ever do that. if they are such a family how could he have more of a sentimental connection to Bama than Clemson. For the same money, a little harder road to championships, and at best end up in a three way tie for all time best coach at your institution while dealing with a super entitled fan base.
No way Dabo goes to Bama... you're spot on here. He will be there till the end like Bowden at FSU. Well... unless he pulls an Urban.

You sir are way too many spiked egg nogs deep. However, I do like the optimism.

I feel like this board will close up shop when CJL retires...

Here we go again. More P5 talk when we can't do **** in P6 (sorry G5)... Had a really good conversation with a UCF "buddy" about this. His perspective was spot on... We got kicked off the mountain and now all we can do is look backward while they have never seen the top of that mountain. So that being said, they are at the highest of highs right now and we are dwelling on ******** from the past. Dumbest F'ing thing in the world is to think we belong in the P5 right now. Maybe if we can win a championship but even then we need to show some consistency.

Its a great hire, but let's give this guy a chance to get some traction first. Some of the expectations people are having this early are just unrealistic. We honestly won't know much of anything until we are a few games into the 2020 season (9 months from now).
9 months... what do you mean? We will know everything after the spring game and will most definitely be on pace for an undefeated season!
-
Good luck to them all but also good riddance! Start fresh and build up a staff that you can hand the team to when you leave for P5 knowing that your philosophies should be similar. Also, we all knew with or without coaches we are gonna suck next year. A couple of transfers and all you doom and bloomers will be saying we will be undefeated again...

Am I the only one that is really anxious waiting to find out the rest of the staff?
I would assume we will know within the next week or two. If CKB returns, everone on this board will lose their minds including myself.

Nope. Arm strength is not there. Not a good decision maker either.
I was reluctant to say the same thing. I hate to say anything negative about these kids but he has some work to do. I hope he busts his ass this offseason and shuts us all up next year.

You know it's also possible we beat Texas. They weren't exactly lighting it up either last year.
I like the optimism but we will get destroyed. Maybe if we get a QB in we will have a chance but not with our current roster.

Wow, we are really drinking the kool aid. I hope he is the guy but pump the ******* brakes, he has a nice line of **** and I am optimistic but not sold yet, after what CCS put us through you guys will jump on any train no matter where the destination.
Yep... I am numb at this point. When he wins more than 4 games, maybe I'll get excited.

I hope he fires pretty close to everyone; you don’t waste your time paying out large dollars to someone to not coach you just to turn around and keep everyone and everything in place that led to that change. If he goes with your plan and keeps the same OC and DC that just led to a 4-8 season he deserves to be fired and we may as well have saved the money and kept CCS. Putting your stamp of approval on an OC that has an average FBS offense of 122 out of 130 programs is a pretty good way to burn thru your honeymoon period and if next season is a repeat performance he will have a lot of explaining to do as to why he continued down the same wrong path instead of pivoting towards what will hopefully be a winning future.
I agree. Gotta clean up but I'm sure he will evaluate and possibly keep a couple pieces but it cant be the higher level assistants.

This conversation seems to always come up and I cant understand why. Not sure if yall are serious or not. We don't deserve to be in P5 if we cant win where we are at. Hell, the BE days are long gone. I get it, it sucks going from P5 to **** but that's the cards we were dealt. If a P5 comes for AAC teams, I promise you we wont be on the list.

Kelly's next job ( after a IPF ) is to use his contacts to get us in the ACC , if that happens after a few AAC championships perhaps CJS stays a long long time. None of us really knows what the future holds.
A few... lets start with 1!

I agree (to an extent, of course). To be clear, I'm not saying they should not hire him as HC based on what I said, only that I think they will not hire him as HC based on what I said. You have to admit it would be a bold, risky move that could subject everyone involved to intense scrutiny. That's not USF's M.O.
So... you want to take the bet?
Take the bet! Donate the winnings to IPF!

I could see him going the Houston Nutt route and jumping from one to the other to thoroughly torch the bridges, with a little drama and litigation sprinkled in.
Wow. Had to look up Houston Nutt to see what hes been up to. Looks like he is taking Kiffin's gig.

Man. You can really mess with someone's reputation on here by quoting out of context lol. Good stuff!

How long before he goes off the deep end if he does take one of these gigs?
