lol, they pay him 1.5 M in a attempt to have him recruit from manatee county. Laughing when both Florida, Florida state, and UCF out recruits him . USF just didnt want to pay the real money it would take to get a butch davis, or Jim Tressel here.
Really dude? is this the most enthusiasum you can muster? C'mon Man!!!
It took the hiring to even get him to register, so I'm guessing this is about as good as it gets on his enthusiasm scale.

I remembers a MAC coach ... Was given a chance by Utah
Well hopefully Coach Taggart has a touch more integrity than Urban.

The program has not upgraded one bit with the hiring of Taggert.
Luckily we didn't hire Taggert, whoever that is.

Poor choice. Mediocre results in an easy conference. I hope this wasn't the best we could do.
I can't understand this sentiment unless you really don't understand the monumental task he was undertaking at WKU. What he accomplished there was actually pretty remarkable.

I'd love to see Marquel back. Hope it happens.

I'm sorry but I have a very bad feeling about this hire guys... I hope I am wrong but I think I will be posting a big ole I told you so in 2 years.
If you're already planning your "I told you so" I have a hard time believing you sincerely hope you are wrong.

Well, I'm a fan of the guy. Obviously only time will tell, but I really think this will be the best move for USF going forward.

Randy Shannon ver. 2.0
Right. Except their career paths share absolutely zero commonalities. So other than that exactly the same.
-
Somehow I don't see Dan Enos getting the call so that should break the streak of Central Michigan coaches going to Cincinnati.
-
I can't Imagine Tennessee could sell the boosters and fan base on Taggart. Coming right after Dooley it's probably too easy to draw parallels between the two.

8-5 Wisconsin? Wow.
Blame the "brain" trust at tOSU athletics for deciding to hold off on self-imposing so they could take their awesome .500 record to the Gator Bowl.
-
I respect that...I wouldn't want a coach that bailed on his team before a bowl game.
Then you'd be narrowing your options significantly. It's pretty rare that a coach hired from another program stays through said program's bowl game. It puts you behind the eight ball from day one.

Ah, I see.
Just because he said he didn't like people wearing UK gear around WKU? lolsee this is why i'm saying it doesn't look like he's coming here. but maybe the whole Cristobal thing will show him that he needs to leave cuz crazy things can happen
I think that person was referring to the conflicting reports, though maybe I'm wrong
yes referring to the reports lol, wth would i care if they wear UK stuff haha. plus he's at practice today at WKU. I'm thinking Woolard is going stealth and pulling a Bieleima to Arkansas move that no one saw coming.
All that conflicting reports really indicate is that a ton of people are talking about something. It's once I hear everyone saying something is definitely going to happen that I usually write it off as unlikely to happen.

I thought were going to tell us to get back to work
This will not occur until well after this is over.
This is honestly a perfect example of why I avoid Twitter like the plague. I've turned into an instant information junkie the past few days, searching for breaking news, sifting through mostly garbage tweets, refreshing every twenty seconds. My productivity is at an all-time low, and I've been completely useless to my wife and daughter.

So you're saying they have spoken to my favorite candidate? Off to twitter...

If we hired Petrino today, he'd be gone tomorrow if he got what he felt was a better offer.
More than likely, I doubt that would happen for at least 2-3 years though. Until then, we could get a good foundation built. And let's say for argument purposes he took us to a 9 or 10 win season. If he does leave, it would not cost us anything more. We would not have to buy out the contract.
And then it would be easier to find a good coach with a better record and better prestige.
Sure. I mean it worked out perfectly for Louisville and Arkansas, right? Oh, wait...
You mean you don't like Bielema? Worked out well for Arkansas. It was Arkansas who chose to fire Petrino so late in the cycle and hand the reigns to an assistant instead of getting a coach.
Louisville got Kragthorpe'd, but I think thye're happy with Strong. Petrino's tenures at both schools made both jobs more desirable in the long run.
Well technically Smith had already taken over at Weber State, but Arkansas didn't have too much in the way of options given Petrino's impeccable timing.

There are reports that Taggart interviewed with Wisconsin today as well.

Who is CCS? Chris Cosh Sr.?
CC Sabathia.

Dykes and his AD are getting some deserved heat for apparently orchestrating the bowl "strategy" that ultimately ended with La Tech left out in the cold with their noses pressed against postseason window.

Anyone know the specifics of his exit contract from UNC? Can he coach this next season with no loss of money?
He'll lose the money UNC is paying him now. From what I understand the Buccaneers were prepared to offer him a spot on the staff, but that would have relieved UNC from their financial obligation. He felt he was wrongly terminated and wanted them to have to continue paying him.

Any actual news on Petrino?
Monday December 03, 2012 10:56 PM EST, Bobby Petrino still an unemployed flake.

I go for Calvin Magee before Willie T for the simple fact I think he has more experience
As a head coach Taggart has the advantage of some to Magee's none.
-
I think you build in some great clauses into his contract and give him the job....
We are in a good place and have options.... This guy wins immediately.... But we need a nasty d-coordinator
Can you build in "Don't be an ass"?
How about a "don't abandon your team in the middle of the night leaving only a dear john letter taped up in the locker room to explain your departure" clause?
Taggart named USF coach?
