  1. Year 2 in the dynasty and late in the season Memphis and Tulane both 1 win teams and both beaten by the FCS teams they played. One of the two beat Duke. Just goes to show even a crappy AAC team can beat a crappy AAC team, lol, at least in theory.

This new recuiting system is something else, don't think I will ever get all 25 scholarships taken. Another interesting thing I've read is they have added is decommits. They must follow USF over in Orlando where the game is created.

For me it's my first year in the dynasty and it looks like i'll get the 25 taken, I think it just depends on who you target.  Got lucky and the #2 quarterback was in Florida and his #1 priority was proximity to home, got him over Bama.

  2. FGCU beats us in every sport that I remember them playing us - soccer, baseball and basketball - within the last year or two.  They are running good programs down there. Saw their basketball team in person this year. Ran out to a big lead against Lipscomb and then blew it and lost in OT.  Tremendous athletes on that squad.  Let's just hope they don't start playing football.

This year in the soccer NCAA tournament

Haven't played  them in over two years in baseball but play them on tuesday.

And we've never played them in basketball or at least the last 10 years (as far back as i've checked) so please what have they so dominated us in?

And we beat Georgetown too  :FIREdevil:

But seriously, congrats to FGCU great win for their program.

  3. Looks like ND is just too much. We're getting out-rebounded here in the 2nd half because we don't have any size and our foul troubles.

You still have to give our ladies and Coach Fernandez major credit. They have fought Notre Dame tough both games. Going toe-to-toe with a team full of all-americans and olympians when we have none is something to be proud of. I hope the selection committee was watching today, because this further proved that we should be in the tournament.

    +1

  4. Football won 4 bowl games. I'll call all of those big games. WBB winning the last two. Volleyball used to win big games all the time. If you go into the corral you will see a bunch of banners from a period in time where we were good. MBB last year won at least 4 big games, including two in the tourney.

Yes, USF overall is probably under .500 in "big games" .... but I think a big part of that is what makes games big games is top notch opponents.

Its not like a volleyball player from 1995 and a football player from 2007 have a common bond that dictates choking in big games. When you aren't the neighborhood bully, big games are tough to win ... and over the years USF has won a decent number of them.

I don't know, I really can't count PapaJohn's, International or the Beef O'brady Bowl as Big games.  Those are pretty much consolation bowl games to me.  Always happy to be playing in a bowl game. Meineke vs Clemson...Maybe a big game. Especially with the way things have been here lately in football.  These are/were certainly not "must win" games to me.

I am not saying our programs choke.  I just don't feel we have a winning culture with any of our programs.  Certainly not one at the highest level, that anyone can point to, in any of our programs.  Well, perhaps sailing if you want to count that.

Living in CT, when I am talking to my UCONN friends or Syracuse friends and I have a good friend that is a Louisville grad, when I talk to them and they are talking about national Championships or conference championships I am certainly not pointing to the Beef O'brady Bowl as our shining moment.

Soccer seems to be at least somewhat of a powerhouse and have a pretty deep culture of winning, I mean we don't make the big east tournament last year but were still good enough to be in the big dance of soccer... Has to be some sort of tradition for that to happen.

  5.

My projections. Don't have USF in quite yet. But obviously trending up, had them as a 6seed NIT two weeks ago, now a 2 seed NIT

Why do you have them not in as of yet? Too many good teams or just not enough quality wins? Just wondering the reasoning.

RPI mainly (58th) and you have 12 teams that are auto-qualifiers below USF, 9 of them outside of the top 64. The idea of win and you are in will work here. We dont need anyone to lose, we just need to win and that RPI will move up. Outside of losses, the only thing that can keep USF out is a plethora of upsets in the conference tourneys

Would you have them in if they win the 2 road games but not UCONN?

  6. I understand that football and MBB have been absolutely horrible this year. However, that being said our soccer team was an overtime win away from the sweet 16, our women's basketball team is on the verge of a NCAA tourney birth and the softball team is ranked in the top 20 with a full season left. I understand that football and MBB are the moneymakers and those are the ones that everyone pays attention too, but great athletic events have been there to go to this year and overall has been a decent amount of success. If soccer was switched with football and MBB switched with women's basketball everyone on this board would be happy, just shows how two of the many teams that play for USF can automatically make an athletic year great or horrible.
