  1. The Redskins lost practice squad center Austin Reiter to the Browns when they signed him to their active roster Tuesday, a source said. Reiter, a seventh-round pick in 2015, spent most of last season on the Redskins' practice squad. He was released by the Redskins on Sept. 13, only to be re-signed to the practice squad. The Redskins have Spencer Long to back up starting center Kory Lichtensteiger. They like how Long has developed and, though they still believe there's a gap between his play and Lichtensteiger's, they feel he can still improve. So if they made a move with Lichtensteiger in the offseason, they could turn to Long or draft another one.

Yeah... but I knew we weren't going to go 10-2... everyone who knows me knows I hated Holtz and was just happy we had a new coach.  So I actually went with 10 wins every year after Holtz... It became kinda my thing.  A few savvy people actually got me to admit what I thought the records would be and I gave them my actual number.  But I always have said year 3 would be the turnaround.  I think everyone on TOS pretty much knew that.  I'm a sunny side up, glass half filled guy when I know things are going to sh!t.  But most will tell you I do know a lot about the team... and the teams we play to be honest.  I thought we'd legit go 10-2 last season.  I didn't think we'd lose to Navy and Maryland.  I still don't believe we lost to Maryland, that one hurt me being from Virginia.  But I digress....  I didn't see two years ago as a disaster.  I saw it as a chance to get guys in.  I don't really think anyone thought we'd come from 2-10 and go 10-2.  I figured honestly 5-7 or 6-6, Collin got me to admit that over on TOS that year.  I saw a defense and flashes of talent.  The guys didn't quit and you could see Mack, Johnson, and the defensive guys getting better.  My mistake was expecting production out of White.  I didn't think he or Bench were the long term answer as I've always been a Flowers guy.

My honest assessment of this team is as follows.  No USF homer involved

I think the offense will go as far as the Oline.  I think the starting Oline will likely be better than nit was last season.  Kofi, Hall, Ruff, Threatt, Atterbury will be a formidable line.  It will certainly be the biggest we've had in school history averaging 316 pounds.  That tells you Taggart is going to still run a lot.  I look at Mack, Flowers, Johnson, Tice, and Sands as the most complete backfield we've had.  I look for the rushing numbers to go up.  The only thing that can slow this group will be injuries along the oline, which I honestly don't anticipate given the conditions and the majority of our games are on grass.  The oline is also the least injured position on offense.  If that holds true, we are going to have a next level running game.  I injuries... we'll have to see.

I think that Flowers is likely to likely to have a higher total QBR than last season.  I think he'll hit on a lot of big passes just because of the design of the offense.  He appears to have become more accurate and is throwing a more crisp ball this year.  I think he'll have another record breaking season simply because I don't think the records are that high.   If he goes down though... it's going to be a rough season.

The TE's I think will be a pleasant surprise to all.  I like Dillon and Wilcox a lot.  Two big athletic guys.  They are the real deal.

WRs... I think we'll see a lot of different combinations with a lot of different guys catching the ball.  The guy I think people should watch in McCants when he's on the field in the slot.  To me he's a guy who will turn heads.

So offense... i think we're good.

Defense... I think we'll be better than last season.  I like Livingston and especially Love.  The defense will be tough.  I think one of the best we've had in years.  But I worry about depth at DT.  I think we'll have some problems with teams like UConn that just badger the ball at you and play a game of attrition.  But I don't think the teams in the conference on our schedule can match the speed, talent, and athleticism.   I'll say the defensive line will be a lot better than most expect.

    LBS... not worried.

    DBs... not worried.

The game that most worries me is not a conference game, it is FSU.  Honesty... I'm at a draw right now.  I think that if their freshman QB is shaky, we'll win.  If he's not, we'll lose.  They  are a very talented team and well coached.  But I think we are too... but we may actually not be as talented, but I think we are just as good as a TEAM.  We have parts that fit now.

My biggest take is the difference between last years team and this years team will be confidence and experience.  They know what to do now.  We're no longer learning, but rather perfecting.  The team is also bigger, stronger, and by all accounts faster than last season.  Last season Temple's coach said we were the fasted team they played last season... we've only gotten faster.  So if you want my head analytics head to give a prediction... I'd say we go 10-2. Losing to FSU and possible Cuse (it can be a trap looking forward to FSU).  But honestly I can see us going 11-1.  Even if we beat FSU.. Cincy sits there waiting for a team that could either be down from a FSU loss.. or a team too high after a FSU upset victory.  But if this team comes out of FSU level headed with a win... they'll likely run the table regular season.  I also must say I don't think Cincy is that good.  They have serious oline issues and literally  just installed a new offense predicated on running the ball.  They also have a new starter at QB as Kiel is 3rd on the depth chart now.  There is a lot more to that than just his performance in spring and fall.  So I would not be surprised if we beat Cincy by 30 or 40 points again.

Townson.. while historically tough for some will be an easy game.

UNI.. It will be closer but I don't see them beating us.

FSU.. will be a really tough game.  But we can win it.  If things break right... we can win pulling away.  If wrong, we could lose big!

Cincy.. We are just a better team.  Home field or not for them.  Taggart is a better prepared coach than Tommy Tubberville.  I think we'll blow them out.  I don't see this team faltering after a loss, this is a resilient group.  Taggart is tuned in to them.

ECU will be closer than many expect but we'll likely put them away late.  They'll be up for the game as we will likely be ranked... even with a CLOSE FSU loss and definitely with a FSU win.

By Uconn we will have a target on our back... this game scares me if we'r undefeated or not.  My solace is knowing Taggart has never loss to UConn and the game is in Tampa.  If it were there this season, I would pick them.  That said... We could also blow them out as their team speed is terrible.  If our  WRs play as advertised, it won't be as close as I believe.

Temple will be tough but I don't think they'll be able to stop the offense.  I think Flowers will be playing in another world by this game.  Their offense is too predictable and USF actually matches up very good with Temple.  We have matching size and strength... but superior athleticism.

I don't think Navy, Memphis, SMU, and UCiF will be difficult games.

So my head says 10-2 but my gut says 11-1 regular season.

My honest assessment... in not so much of a nutshell.
