  1. Ironic the people who want race to not be important factors, seem to make everything about race.... You're inventing problems that aren't there and diversity is inherently racist to begin with. You're complaining too many white coaches, but what if it was all black? Would you complain still? If not, it's not about diversity and more about you just being anti-white. Humans in general aren't keen to diversity. Ethnic and racial groups tend to cluster naturally with similar individuals. No matter how hard you force it, it ain't gonna work out how you want it to. Focus your energy into something more productive and you won't be so angry at the world.

It's because the comments aren't out of line...people are pointing out that the BLM organization is a joke for a number of many different reasons...now that doesn't mean that those same people are for systematic racism..in fact they are not...the issue is when the BLM tag is used by the players when they (BLM) are driving other agendas not related to racism or at best best loosely related to racism...that was my point earlier...the BLM organization will tell you that all of their demands are valid...it is all under one movement though..now personally I realize where these kids are coming from (stopping racism) so it doesn't really bother me...however, I know the BLM organization is sitting back and eating this up...they feel this is their opportunity to drive their marxists agenda becaue if anyone calls them out for what they really are..they will be called a racist...or ignorant or many worse things...

My exact feelings and why I feel upset and disgusted with the university for allowing and supporting that logo. The university is supposed to help educate and lead these kids, not play into and be associating with that race baiting, hateful and divisive organization.

    Byeeee have a good time

I will. So much extra free time now in the fall. Gonna be great. And with the financial savings, I think I'll spend it on a small vacation. Just think, I'll be hiking in some beautiful national park, while you'll be frustrated with playcalling and poor tackling while having to emotionally handle losses and more letdown from the program. My time sounds more enjoyable. Oh and I won't have to listen to bs politics along the way 🤘

They should have just stoped with their own branding of "United".

I'm fine with United, but they lost me at BLM. I watch to relax and get away from all the world's bs. Not to sit through athletes complaining about inequality. The same athletes who get into college based not on merit but being able to run fast and jump. If that isn't bias and privilege I don't know what is. BLM is a racist and violent movement. Its silent on the topic of black on black crime, black abortion rates and black fatherless rates. It's an organization that's quick to blame whitey for it's problems without having any accountability of ones own actions. I will never support that movement and any company, person or organization that supports it. Shame that after 21 years of tickets and attendance, this is how it ends for me.

Fortin's video of him vs VT and NCState show a lot. Kid is agile and wings the ball. Not afraid to run at all he looks solid.

His highlights looked good but I want to see the whole tape. Just by looking at the highlights though, he showed poise, accuracy, patience, scrambling ability and some read progression. His throwing motion was relatively clean too with good strength. Like all young QBs though, it all boils down if they can do everything or the majority mentioned above consistently while limiting turnovers. Time will tell but kid will certainly have a shot at starting.

In your rant... do you see the pieces coming together? You are basically saying that we need to pull in a full team of P5 recruits while in a G5 conference, going up against basically every P5 program east of the Mississippi that tries to recruit Florida heavily. We can occasionally have one or 2 pieces of that puzzle in place (for instance, Mack and MVS), but, it's not the norm, nor sustainable for us.

I completely agree with you, we can certainly make a pro-style work if we get the pieces in place, but, it's going to be hard to consistently have that talent level at all positions.

Eventually though, good coaching can mask some deficiencies on the OL, even in a "pro-style" system. Hopefully we have the right coach and he gets the right staff to maximize his talent. I have always thought great coaches adapt to their talent. You see it with John Harbaugh in Baltimore right now. He has embraced Jackson and changed their style and is being rewarded with wins and a ton of fun. The great quote about Don Shula is my favorite...

"He can take his'n and beat your'n and you'rn and beat his'n." - Houston Oilers coach Bum Phillips on Don Shula's coaching talent

Basically, if CJS can come in here and recruit the best players we can recruit and coach them up to be the best players they can be, he'll have a ton of success. If he sets his sights on only players that fit his system, we'll likely miss on the rare talents like Q who can lift the team on their shoulders and carry us to wins.

I think we can be successful but it depends on what we can bring in for sure. Having a good offensive line is key for anything we do. Without it, we will look terrible. Even an average to above average QB can lead us to a championship behind a good OL and good defense. Both our lines were pathetic last year.

We must improve in the trenches or we will continue to be plagued with losses and poor performances. I believe CJS can coach up these guys and whoever he brings in. A great leader like Flowers masked the issues up front, the defense doesn't have that benefit, nor does our offense right now because there isn't a major playmaker anywhere. I would've loved to have seen what CJS could've done with Wilcox. He was so criminally underutilized last year. A TE like him can open up the entire offense to plays.

I feel that’s a pretty good reason. No one hates Pro Style it works amazingly at many places, they hate prostyle here because it has yet to work despite being tried repeatedly.

It fails here because we've consistently recruited athletes that can play QB, not quality QBs with proper fundamentals, good vision and a capable arm. Mix that with terrible offensive coordinators, a junk OL and receivers that drop more passes than catches and no wonder it fails. It's a lack of talent, not the style of play. Just having an offensive line that could block worth a **** would instantly improve the offense no matter what system we run. That is the most important place to recruit imo, followed by QB.

  8. I'm not sure why so many people here hate the pro style QB. Just because they're listed that doesn't mean they aren't athletic. It doesn't mean 7 step drops and I formation dives. Today's pro style is nearly all shotgun passing, split backs, two TE and play action off a 3-5 step drop. You people have an aversion to it because we've never had a quality passing QB teamed up with a coach who was imaginative in play-calling.

What if ... if one of the interviews is Skip? If he was given a second chance to recruit hard here. I know he can work a board room. He has only taken La Tech to a bowl game every year since he’s been there. Why the sudden success for them? He knows how to coach. I’d be fine with it.

Kids, this is why you shouldn't do drugs.

Jim Levitt was an average coach and still a good defensive coordinator. But he was regressing towards the end

Regressing towards the end? 2009 saw his starting QB tear his ACL in week 3 and we still managed 8 wins in a conference that had 6 teams with 8+ wins and 3 top 25 teams that year.

Out of all 5 of those seasons you list only 2008 was a down season. We had a veteran team with a junior 3 year starting QB.

2007 ended poorly due to injuries and we got rocked in the bowl game by Oregon who would've likely been in the National Title game if not for Dixon tearing his ACL.

Leavitt did more with little than anyone could've ever imagined. Do I want him back, not really. I want youth but we can a helluva lot worse than Leavitt. He would still be a quality hire. I'm done going back and forth with you.

Yeah except that is not remotely true.   Again, for those of you with difficulty reading, when we joined the conference, the upperclassman were recruited when USF was just a I-A independent.  A vast majority of the remaining roster was recruited when we were just CUSA.  So we had a roster of 90% players from "G5" level recruiting going against teams with full "P5/BCS" rosters.  It would be no different then taking our current team and throwing them in the ACC or Big 12 next year and then wondering how we haven't won that conference in the first 3-4 years.  We are not on the same playing field.  Being on the same playing field is brought Leavitts highest recruiting class in 2009.  And the roster he left Skip still had talent like BJ, Barrington, Kayvon Webster, Lindsey Lamar, DeDe Lattimore, etc..

No use arguing with an ignorant fool man. Logic isn't relatable.

5/6 years of recruiting in a BCS conference. When Holtz took over its not like we had a great team that CJL left him either.

Holtz was a bum that wasted BJ Daniels and plenty other talented players Leavitt recruited. If Grothe doesn't tear his ACL, Leavitt likely never gets fired. Give Taggert the same team Holtz had and it's similar to 2016.

His first several seasons in the BE were with CUSA level or worse recruits, a bad QB in Julmiste (2005) and then starting over with a freshman in Grothe. The 2007 season was the first one with actual expectations and we had a good season until injuries hit and tested our terrible depth. While 2008 had 3 one possession score losses which could've gone either way.

For all his teams faults, Leavitt made massive strides with little to work with. Was he Nick Saban, hell no, but he was no Skip Holtz. Leavitt is a rock solid ball coach that can easily get us back to 9+ wins and contending for titles in this trash conference.

I mean if you like winning 7-8 games per year with the occasional 9 win season due to beating a wack team in a bowl then go ahead. It works well for Vanderbilt, Wake Forrest, Pitt and UK.  CSL simply had competitive teams that underacheived

Young team,? He was in a BCS conference for 5 seasons. how much time does he need to recruit a good team? lol

Yes, shame on him for not winning a BCS conference multiple times with a 10 year old program with highly inferior facilities, no program recognition, and underfunded cash pool for a proper staff.

He got more out of nothing than probably 98% of the coaches in CFB could. Give him our current stature, money and add an IPF and he can do great things here.

CJL is a good Defensive Coordinator and an average head coach. As a coach...kind of like CCS.  😎   He had 5 years in a  BCS conference and never won more than 9 games. Pretty much averaged 8 wins a season. So you think it's ok to give a coach 6-8 years to win 10 games? GTFOH man! We barely give a coach 3 years over here b4 we want somebody fired. The double standard with CJL compared to other coaches is hilarious. But go ahead and give this man more false praise.

Leavitt was a solid HC. Where his teams struggled was with depth which isn't surprising for a young program, and having quality assistants around him. Wally was great as a DC but we didn't have good OC's and consistency. Your HC should be hands on but not as much as his staff. You need to have faith in your staff and give them space to be innovative and coach up players and not step on toes. He can do that but question is can we build an entire staff of hungry savy minded coaches. That I haven't seen before at USF. We continue to lack quality across the board.

charlie didn’t know the score when he kicked the fg. He thought it was 21-7 when it was 28-7

It was the correct call kicking the field goal. It cuts the lead to 18 and you get the ball to start the 2nd half with a chance to make it 28-17. Too early in the game to not take the points.
