  1. skip does not exude confidence.

he doesn't coach confidently either. from settling for field goals to punting on opponents 37 yard line on 4th and short.

he shows no confidence in his players. he is almost always playing it safe.

he doesn't coach to win. doesn't have the killer instinct. you see it in some coaches. they just do whatever it takes to win. they refuse to lose. it's night and day the feeling you get watching brian kelly or muschamp or saban on the sideline compared to holtz. they have a different aura about them.

skip almost sets himself up for the big disappointment. leaves just enough time on the clock for a team to kick game winning field goal instead of going for the first down to ice the game.

it has gotten worse. not sure he can turn things around. these players seem tainted.

You're so right, look at the Mad Hatter... You never know what he's going to do but his kids believe in him. He finds a way to win. Skip is SO PREDICTABLE.

  2. The majority of the people on this board understand we were barely a top 25 team ever. We had a legit defense in our best season but it took all the teams losing above us for us to move up like that. We were on the cusp though of being big time football. We really were. We needed a BCS game to give us the recruiting edge to keep us in that consistant status and it never came.

This is the thought process that has our fanbase fuming right now. We weren't really on the cusp. We were (and still kinda are, one and 1/2 season aside) a solid program that needs a lot to get to that level.

Besides (and humor me) what is to say we're not right back there with a solid season in 2013? How many people had Notre Dame and Florida where they are? Florida especially looked hopeless this year.

Woulard could change a lot of things

Phil Steele sure has seen the potential of USF over the years. We have the athletes, we just can't close the deal when the game is on the line. We need a coach who will push the players to excel and WIN, not be satisfied with "being competitive".

  3. Legitimate list of Positives and Negatives for Holtz

    Positives:

    Beat Miami (2010)

    Beat Notre Dame (2011)

    Much higher team GPA

got the team (temporarily) ranked (2011)

Beat a BCS Conference team in a Bowl Game (2010)

    (now my brain is stumped)

    Negatives:

    No Bowl games (2011) (2012)

15-21 overall record (assuming loss vs PITT)

9-11 @ Home (assuming loss vs PITT)

    6-10 on the road

5-16 in the Big East Conference (assuming loss vs PITT)

Team has not progressed but regressed

Fans are not going to games

The team appears to continually make the same mistakes again and again

I had to look again at the BE record...5-16 and just said :wtf:

based on this info I just can't see keeping Holtz another year....what sucked the most this year is...I was not pissed Friday night...not suprised...not sad...just at a loss for words...except for :wtf:

If anybody else has an item for EITHER list that is not there please list and discuss

and sorry that i might be :icon_deadhorse:

You forgot my favorite one about now not being able to win games in low humidity...

"You just don't have the humidity up here in the air. B.J. was having a hard time holding onto the ball, complaining about it being really slick," coach Skip Holtz said after his team passed for only 164 yards. "One ball went out of the back. You could see he kept coming over to the sidelines, spraying his hands with water to try to keep them moist so he could grip the ball. He just missed a couple of balls."

  4. Mark Snyder just made it look better than it was.

I'm confused. Last year everyone said that Snyder was terrible.

Obviously now seeing Cosh in the same defense and Mark Snyder doing well at Texas A&M we can see who the common denominator is.

So everyone was wrong last year when they were melting down demanding that Snyder be fired? And wrong two years ago when everyone was melting down demanding that Coach Heath be fired?

    I'm seeing a pattern.

Me too. You're life is pretty boring.

    "Your"

  5. Woolard said he would review Holtz after the season. I am sure that is still the plan.

Can't wait to hear what he would say IF he retained Coach Holtz.

I just can't see Coach Holtz being back, regardless of what Greg wrote the other day.

I can think of 2.5 million reasons unfortunately

I understand that, but I think they come up with the money. Isn't the payout over 5 years?

I agree with you. Shouldn't we be getting a buttload of money from the schools that left the Small Least and have to pay the buyout fee?

  6. Ok, so does Nippert. are you basing this off of having been there or off of the tweet that was sent out earlier? Cause I went to school there for 5 years and went to every home game and I can tell you there is indoor plumbing. They added porta pottys to the outside wall of the stadium to alleviate the time it took to get through the bathrooms because Nippert never saw the crowds it had until recently with success and many complained it took an entire quarter to go to the bathroom. TUC (student center) is also connected to the stadium and bathrooms are open throughout the game. The normal stadium bathrooms are next to each concession stand.

You should know by now that half the things people say on this board are repeated-baseless-garbage they saw elsewhere.

Ballsy statement from someone with only 25 posts...

Ballsy statement from someone who posted 25 times, but has read thousands of posts since 2007. Long-time lurker.

    Sorry bro, carry on please.

  8. Point is it was a sham and that's it.

The investigation and its conclusions where a result of a third party source who has a fairly established reputation. You have to believe a lot of people who would have no real "skin in the game" just had it out for Jim Leavitt to believe that entire story. What to do with the information is certainly open for debate, but there is little doubt as to what Jim Leavitt did (both in the locker room and in the aftermath during the investigation).

I know far more than you can only assume - including players that were contributing to the stories, making stuff up. You'd be surprised. I had direct correspondence and have it stored safely. You would truly be surprised at the players conspiring, admittedly, to help take down a coach.

    I believe you...

  9. with Doug, Skip, and Judy conducting. Get this:

Boise State, San Diego State and BYU have had conversations with Mountain West membership about the possibility of returning to the league, sources told ESPN.

These talks originated after last week's decision in Denver by the BCS commissioners awarded an automatic access bowl berth to the highest rated champion to the "Group of Five" conferences. That decision, in essence, put the Mountain West on equal footing as far as playoff access with the Big East starting in 2014.

Sources said Monday those talks are expected to bring on greater significance after Maryland announced it was leaving the ACC for the Big Ten. ESPN reported Rutgers will announce it's leaving the Big East on Tuesday so the Big East will lose Rutgers and then potentially either UConn or Louisville to the ACC.

Our conference is crumbling. Some better get Aresco on the red emergency phone pronto!!!

    we're F'ed.

This has already been refuted on many sites. No BE team has spoken to MWC. They are all in with the BE (quote from presidents).

Let me know when TCU joins the Big Least
