He has held his own against some of the best DEs in the country at a few recent camps during 1on1s, and the DEs have a huge advantage in 1on1s. The Nature Coast district contains South Sumter, Pasco, Zephyrhills and Hernando... not necessarily a bunch of slouches.

Picked up 4 offers over the last 2 weeks: South Carolina, Penn State, Oklahoma, and Syracuse.
He did real well at the Nike Camp yesterday considering the terrible weather/conditions.

Opens a spot for TBP fave Ryan Crozier!
Or not...
St. Thomas Aquinas offensive lineman Ryan Crozier commits to #UConn http://bit.ly/1n63sBR

Also of note... The recruits sit in section 121. The kids all saw this going on.
Bayes, Brown, Porter, Fullwood, Black, Galati... The only excitement they experienced all night was in the stands.
-
Quoted from Les Miles this a.m. Give Taggart and crew some time.
"@MrChadBishop: Miles: "When I watched (WKU) play Kentucky, if you had just put them all in plain uniforms, you would've thought WKU was the SEC team.""

Hysterical - I love it... It's going to go viral and bring a ton of publicity. Some are hating on it but who cares. Good stuff.

This might help... From February - Pasco HC had some kinda beef with USF right after signing day.
Reading tweets from HS coaches and players about USF junior day. I had no idea they were having one.
I guess USF won't be interested in Nate Craig-Meyers Or Brandon Ray or Brandon Debyah or Malik Johns or 6'5 1/2" TE Bowman Archibald
Yeah we'll they have always done a stellar job recruiting at PHS. Never recruited Josh Johnson, Mylon Brown, Jamie Byrd, David Emmanuel
Took a fly by with Janarion Grant though
oh and USF don't forget 6'6" 240lb OT RJScaife and Ajee Carr
-
Simple - I spoke with the original source of the rumor...
-
Hopefully in the next month or so, we'll find out if we're really going to get Antonio Andrews to USF via transfer from WKU. I have faith he'll be able to rackup the yardage here as well.
Has anyone heard anything on him since that initial rumor a few months back?
Not happening.

Tampa's top 2014 DE - Rohan Blackwood - He is at USF this morning.

Just curious not being from the Tampa area or knowing Weiner, but how does this lock down Tampa in the long run? As an example, Why would a 5 star recruit from Tampa, or for that matter Plant HS, want to go to USF over Offers from Alabama, ND, USC, Texas, UF, etc. because of our WR coach?
Weiner is an awesome coach, and he is extremely well-respected across the state. If you were tuned into twitter when this broke, you would have seen coaches across the state raving about this hire, from Jacksonville to Miami. Whoever runs state powerhouse Miramar's football twitter account liked it a lot. Weiner attends most of the coaching clinics around the state throughout the year.
Plant was in absolutely terrible shape when Weiner took over at in 2004. They won just 3 games in 2004. In just his second year, he got them back to the playoffs and even won their first round game before bowing out to Armwood. Then in year 3, Weiner led Plant to a 15-0 record and an incredible state championship win over a Tim Tebow QB'ed Nease team. He followed that up with state championships in 2008, 2009, and 2011.
The excellent players that have developed under him are endless.

USF just didnt want to pay the real money it would take to get Butch Davis, or Jim Tressel here.
Tressel??? Do some research if you want to be taken seriously.
Willie is an excellent hire. Many very important people are all seeing eye to eye on this. Every local high school coach... local ESPN analyst Corey Long... HomeTeam writers... even Dickie V!! All great support to have.
-
BHSN article...
This needs to be a done deal. Plant, Armwood, Manatee, Lakewood, Tampa Catholic... They have stated their full support of Taggart. Forward this to McGillis/Woolard.. whoever.
If Joe Kinnan had a say, Willie Taggart would be the next head coach at the University of South Florida.
"I think he'd do a marvelous job," said Kinnan, who coached Taggart while the Western Kentucky head coach was a star quarterback at Manatee high school. "I think he's an outstanding young man and would be a credit to South Florida. He's got a great demeanor, and he's just a quality young man.
"I've never head anyone say anything negative about him in all my years of knowing him since he was in the ninth grade."
-
In all the talk about looking for a new head coach, there is a lot of talk about being able to recruit Florida or Tampa Bay area. So Willie Taggart played at Manatee. Does this mean the kids at Plant, Armwood, etc. are going to jump at the chance to play for a Manatee guy? Or does just the fact that he is from Florida give him an edge? How do guys like Larry Scott or KP for example lock down a particular area?
Serious questions. I don't know how this recruiting thing works.
It helps in a lot of ways. He is connected to HS coaches all over the place. He would bring Marquel Blackwell back with him. His LB coach, Raymond Woodie, used to be a HC at Palmetto and Bayshore also.
Look what the big local ESPN guy is saying publicly on twitter...
Couple of HS coaches I talked to tonight seemed to be hopeful that Taggart would get the USF job.
One of them said that if Taggart were hired USF would be "a player for every top prospect from Tampa to Naples."
-
If you were him, would you sign on the dotted line?
Potential four year starter. Chance to lift a whole team on my shoulders. I would.
Yes. He has a very unique opportunity at USF.
There is already some young offensive talent here too. Davis, Price, Montgomery all provide some excellent targets. The OL still has great potential. Just need a game-changer at RB too.
-
Recruiting is horrible right now. It is hard to understand. USF has become a joke to local coaches, and local media. Just go on twitter during games. It is clear as day. The horrible coaching decisions and lack of effort are not hard to see.
USF needs a young guy that can mine the talent. One that can earn respect and back it up. Coaching becomes much easier when you have legit talent.
USF has to get on guys earlier. Forget the current class. I can point out a dozen 2014 kids that should be getting love from USF already. But they aren't. USF will wait until they have other offers. It sucks. Look at how long it took them to offer Nate Godwin. Then they lost him to..... Minnesota!?!?!
Isaiah Wynn, Mason Cole... they used to mention USF regularly. Now, USF will never sniff those guys again with the current staff. Willie Taggart is the obvious name. He could do some big-time things with this program in my opinion. They are other options out there too.

BIG COUNTY PREPS â€@BigCountyPreps1
"#USF kept it real with me". - Mike Love, Countryside DE
??? any info on him?
Here is the article that quote came from...

I hope we did not lose our most exciting player. The kid has that NFL gear.
Not joking here...... can he redshirt this year or is it too late?
Way too late.
-
The ineptness of Holtz.
He wanted to redshirt our best running back and second best offensive player.
... Which really has to make you think hard about the staff's ability to evaluate talent. Terrible.
-
No biggie. An even better RB resides right here in Tampa Bay.
Slightly taller, longer build, more speed. They performed head-to-head at the one camp at West Orange HS this summer and this guy outdid JoJo easily.
-
I have no inside info to the locker room... I've just had direct conversations with 4-5 players on both sides of the ball that implied the team has quit on the staff.
Have any more insight like why they are quitting on the staff?
****. There is obviously a lot of negativity around the program right now, but I hate to hear things like this. I just saw this tweet from Eatmon too...
Times like this make me wanna just say f#@& it and give up but i cant/wont do that cause i got too much and too many people counting on me

I hope someone took a picture and can post it here...would be very funny to see.
I had to get a shot of it...
Vandy QB May Transfer to USF
in USF South Florida Bulls Athletics
Posted
Interesting.. I don't know the details, but has he finished his degree and is a possible graduate transfer?
He'll have 1 year, so it really couldn't hurt, and maybe it will help at Armwood, and with Jordan Griffin who would be a game changer for this class on defense.
