  1. I would have to go back and watch more tape, as my memory may not be the best.   But I can recall several plays where ford was getting hit yet still grinding forward for more yards.   Not only is he short, but he has a solid lower center of gravity.  Not to mention you can tell he is a top notch competitor.  Add all this to the obvious speed he has, and the hype is certainly warranted so far.  No he isnt a 25 carry per game back, but he certainly can be a swiss army knife of sorts.   Oh btw, the kid is a true freshman.

As awesome as cronk has been, ford definitely deserves more touches.

  2. We lose McCants on offense (Bronson to a slight lesser degree as well) and we lose McGee, Thomas, Wilkins and Hoggins on defense.  That's it.  We will have 10 starters back on offense,7 on defense and the entire special teams unit.

Aside from the secondary, we will have this entire squad back with a whole year under their belts.   Hell, over half of our starters weren't even playing college ball last year.  This team is young and still not very experienced.  So to be 7-1, when many including myself had us at 6-2 or worse, should be encouraging.

I'm not a fan of how we have looked.  At all.  And I fear Saturday is going to be another hair-greying day.  But the future holds a ton of potential

  3. The offensive gameplan was fine.  We needed to have a more grind it out, efficient offense to prevent Houston from scoring 100.  Penalties came at costly times, and there was some crippling misjudgments in playcalling on those two drives in the 3rd quarter.  If we want to blame the offense, then there is where you point the finger

  4. 3 freshmen o linemen.  2 of them true fresh.  Receiving corps is depleted at this point.   Defensively, our two linebackers arent even actual linebackers and we're starting two freshmen at safety.

I understand our schedule has been weak, but we have also had to break in lots of freshmen and first year players to the program along with dealing with the injury bug this year.  We have essentially trial and errored our way to 7-1.  And above all else, I have yet to see this team hang their heads.

This squad reminds me of the 2006 team.  A lot of us called for 8-4 or so.  A lot of experts as well.  And nobody was calling for us to win today unless they were wearing green and gold glasses.  We have the talent, despite the lack of experience, to win 4 of the last 5 games.  And to be honest, an 11-2 record this year spells BIG trouble for the conference next season.
