Their stadium will look like FSU's when done.

Yes it will. On the west side the Roth Tower takes up most of the space and this brick facility will facade most of the East Side. There is another facility in the master plan that also will be built on the exterior facade of the Football Stadium when the funding is there. This huge donation will get this facility breaking ground this year. The advantage of having an On Campus Stadium is the flexibility to improve at the AD's pace.

No... it won't... unlike your wok, Doak has a much better angle to the seating... The 200 level seats in the erector set are so far from the action you need binoculars to see the game.

Make no mistake, USF will need to get more revenue from having an OCS. More concession. RJS is just not where USF belongs long term. Forget about 2007 as those days are long gone. And stop bringing up schools with a long history of tradition because USF does not have that. So I dont want hear how the U, So Cal, South Carlina, Pitt etc dont have an OCS. That is comparing apples to oranges. I think you need to look at UCF to compare USF. The nation looks at USF and UCF as the same. UCF has their on campus stadium and is brining in tons of money from concessions and parking.  There is no reason why USF cant do the same. No excuses. I will judge the next AD on how the OCS plan gets going.

The last time I was at the Wok, parking was FREE!

Sure, if you like parking a 45 minute walk from the stadium.  Unless you get there hours before kickoff, finding a place to park is a knightmare.  You have to go from one dinky lot to another until you find an open spot.  Parking at UCF is just one of the things that make it a poor gameday experience.

Maybe you haven't been to a college football game on a campus before..... it's an all day event... That's part of the problem at RJS... you can walk right up and not make a day of it on campus... visit the bookstore... tailgate... see the campus... Parking won't be an issue.

Regarding porter. Per article I just read on 247 he is a gator. Said " when I get there".

I usually don't care when a player flips, as all schools try to keep what they have and try to flip others.  Can't have it both ways.

But Porter's annoys me a bit, only because we locked in on him in June, when few others would.  Florida wouldn't give him the time of day all season, till he balled out at the end, and UF had a few slots to fill & went poaching.

He's a young man, and needs to do what is best for him...not us.  I get that, and respect that.  However, the baby in me hopes his career goes the way of Brion Carnes.  I know it's immature, but that's my gut on guys in this situation.

    ^^^^ This.... well said.

  4.

Tony Dungy, author, former NFL coach, current NFL analyst for NBC: An ex-Buc in this role is not unprecedented.

Rob Higgins, Tampa Bay Sports Commission executive director: Enterprising Bulls alumnus is deft in pulling off major projects.

    You gotta be kidding!

Agree. I get that both are known, successful guys in the Tampa Bay area, but what do these guys know about running a college athletic department?

I also get that people want someone like Dungy to duplicate what Lee Roy did. Lee Roy's strength was in fund raising and promoting the program. He wasn't really a great AD. His only big time hire rivals Holtz as the most destructive hire to a sports program at USF.

Higgins brings a lot of passion and energy, but does he know the ins and outs of scheduling, compliance and all the other things that go along with running this kind of program.

I want the best guy for job. Not just the guy that people around here have heard of.

The interesting thing that I would like to see is the profile of what USF and their search firm is looking for.

Um... you do know that Higgins was an assoc AD at USF prior to his current position right?

  5. Am I missing something?

About 15 years ago, some of us thought of forming a group called "the 12th Bull" club. I quickly received a legal-oriented threat from Texas A&M demanding we cease and desist claiming they owned the whole 12th man concept.

I wonder what the difference is or if they plan to threaten Seattle.

I believe the Seahawks pay TAMU for the right to use it.

Here I found the actual agreement.... $5000 per year.

  6. Look. I like the idea of Higgins. I'm an alum of Jesuit and USF so I see the logic with this choice. My only concern is big time college athletics is becoming more and more like some secret fraternity and if USF doesn't have any connections on the inside no matter how good of a salesman you are it falls on deaf ears.

For all I know Higgins is connected on the inside from his work at TBSC and if that's the case I'll support him 100%.

Whatever happens I jut hope they get it right. We can't afford a bad decision.

    Go Bulls!!!

Higgins headed the team that secured the NCAA Football championship game for Tampa.... I think he's got some up high NCAA connections.

  7. bizarre

one would think you would want a guy that knows the local landscape

cwt will never succeed if he doesn't keep local talent home

Please point to a recruit that MB has helped get to or keep at USF.... better yet please point out one that he got to WKU when he was there.

Look... I like MB as a person and alum of the program... but the hype about his recruiting has so far been unfounded.... he hasn't gotten anyone to go anywhere.

Hope he grows as a coach and succeeds as a person going forward.

Part 2 is the State of USF Athletics, financially speaking, and the enormous problems due to Little Big Man's complete and utterly disastrous mismanagement.  What I'm really ready for however, is the need to hear from Southshore26 or USFMikeB about the wonders of Doug Woolard right about now. That to me would the cherry on this delicious afternoon.

LOL... you never learn... I never said I supported DW.... simply said that you come off as an ass in most of your comments... which you've again proven in this post.

  9. Love the recruiting angle, but can he coach QBs?  He was a WR at FSU and a WRs coach.

If Dugans comes it will be as a WR coach. Reaves would shift to QB coach which is his natural position. Reaves worked out the NFL QB's at IMG a couple of years ago.

Edit... ****... beat me to it.

  10.

    Matt Baker â€@MattHomeTeam 7m

Jefferson 2014 ATH RT @unsignedpreps #Florida offers Deiondre Porter! @DtrackstaP

Hope we can keep this kid

Nobody wants to go to that clusterfunk of a program right now. UF is where athletes go to die now, they haven't had a half decent WR or TE come out for a while now. All of their big WRs seem to dud.

Well he just canceled his official visit to USF this weekend to take and OV to UF so I guess he's considering it.

  11. If we had hired Petrino and he had bolted for the 'Ville after one season, that would have opened up a position for Calvin McGee (a coach familiar with Tampa that would love to run the USF program). McGee has only run Rich Rod's offenses for how many seasons? Word has it that he was shocked when we hired Skip. Imagine McGee and a good DC at USF. We could score like WVU and actually have a defense that played old USF football. Our defense was nice to watch most of the season. We would have not lost to Michigan State if McGee were running the program - the guy knows how to get the most out of a player's talent (not saying Taggart doesn't - but we totally were committed to a coach's system - not a player's abilities).

If Calvin McGee is such a great HC prospect then why isn't getting any attention anywhere else?

  12.

    I did the second -1... simply because I think you're an *******.

Then you acted personally and have zip to say or do you fully support Doug Woolard's tenure at USF and think that the nearly $13M (just his salary and coach payoffs) was spent wisely by a University that takes nearly 50% of it's funding from student tuition? I would gladly meet you in person at a game and then you can change your internet tough guy nonsense and actually talk face to face with someone. I will be at tonight's bball game if you're so inclined. That's my -1 by the way, simply because you took this whole thing to a personal level between yourself and me. I've got ZERO respect for people that can't voice their opinion without this level of internet toughguy BS, and especially someone holding themselves out to be a blog MODERATOR (truly an oxymoron in your case).

Thanks for confirming my previous statement... You may or may not be one in person but you come across as an ******* in your posts here.

You also might want to know what being a Mod here entails before you throw that around.... In the meantime, bugger off Mr. internet tough guy.....

Wow, taking the internet tough guy nonsense and doubling down.  I really didn't see that one coming from such a stand up guy.  I guess you're just a Woolard fan and believe the money spent is well spent and anyone with an opposing view is an *******?  Got it.  Your views and opinions are ultimately more important than anyone else's, got that as well.

Again... you're going to deep here.... This had nothing to do with DW... and nothing to do with anyone else here. If you want to have an opposing view point that's great... it's called a message board for a reason idiot.

There's no internet tough guy going on here unless it's coming from you... I don't personally care that much... and either way your still an ******* on here.
