  1. OK, now I can breathe a sigh of relief.  Hopefully we correct the mistakes fast.  That's two weeks in a row.  We absolutely killed ourselves with miscues.  The defense played good.  If we can somehow put the miscues behind us, we can have a good year.  Remember, we had 2TDs called back by Ean, and when they scored their only offensive TD, it was aided by our penalty.  But that's not to take anything away from FIU.  They played hard and almost pulled it off.  I'll still take the win.  But we have to get rid of the miscues.

  2. given the choice i would rather play better teams\

usf doesnt have a choice it seems

schedule weak teams is the usf theme

These are not weak teams, they are average BCS teams.  Ill. has had decent teams the past 10 years, and they will again.  Same with MSU, NC St. etc.  We can't take anything for granted.

We play UL, WVU and Pitt every year, those are sure to be tough games annually.

Look at what K State did.  Winning 10 games every year is more important than getting beat down playing a brutal schedule.  Sprinkle the hard games (UM) with plenty of cupcakes.  Build up a string of 9-10 win seasons and bowl games.  Build and get national recognition.  Bill Snyder is considered a great coach.  He "cupcaked" his way to a great program.  They won and brought in recruits.  Winning brings in recruits, they want to be associated with a winner.

So, schedule a few toughies to get national exposure, hopefully by winning them, but don't forget about the cupcakes to build up that impressive record every year.  DW is doing a great job scheduling so far.

  3. The end of the decade is only 4 years away.  Currently FIU is ranked #118 in ESPN's weekly power ratings.  FAU is #116.  The only team lower than FIU is the dreaded Temple Owls.  They better start doing some things if they want to have a say in the football landscape by the end of this decade.

I think we'll win the game easily.  My prediction was 38-13.  But you can't always trust these power rankings.  Last year we started out in the 80s I believe and we were up in the 30s later in the year.  So they don't always know what they are talking about.  Just play the game and take care of business.  I'm expecting FIU to come out hard wanting to prove something.  But I bullieve we will take care of business handily.

  4. Who cares.  I could care less as long as he wins!  Win and the media will flock to your program.  Leavitt is focused.  give me leavitt any day than george o liar.  THIS IS BEING WWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY OVERBLOWN.  He was just stopping distractions from his team before they played.  Good for him.  He was getting focused and prepared and getting his team prepared.  Just win baby.

  5. 90% is a stretch, Rizzo.  I was listening to ESPN radio and they were talking about an unbeaten WVU or UL being passed by a 1 loss top notch team due to them having such weak schedules.

Won't happen.  WVU is already ranked #5.  They only have to move up 3 spots.  They have a lot of respect from national media and pollsters due to winning sugar bowl last year.

  6. You should kiss UM's feet for enabling you guys to stumble into the Big Least.  had

A team from the Sun Belt Conference is calling the Big East the Big Least.  HaHaHaHaHa.  Not one team from the SB could beat any team from BE, including Syracuse.  Good luck trying to win the conference for that one bowl tie in to the toilet bowl.

  7. USF in year 2000 = I-AA team

    FIU in 2006 = I-A team

and results from 6 years ago are not exactly comparable to results ~6 days ago

Your inaugural season was 1997, ours was 2002. So each of us faced MTSU in our 4th year of existence, the results:

    1. USF loses by 42 points

    2. FIU loses by 1 point (and beat MTSU in our 3rd yr of esixtence - transition year)

Interesting. You may have an advantage going into this Saturday's game, but don't get to cocky against us going forward, we plan to blow right by you guys.

I gotta hand it to you.  To come on here and talk smack to a team that is predicted to win by 3TD's.  Big talk from a SUN BELT team. The absolute worst conference in 1A football, bar none.  That would like us going on UM's board and telling them, we're blowing right past them.  Could happen, but we just want to get to their level within the next 4-5 years before we talk about blowing right past them.  At least be realistic when you talk smack.

  8. if we are to go 3-0, there is no way we'd get votes with wins over McNeese, FIU, and UCF.  We could sniff votes until we show our stuff with the Big East foes.

Someone could give us a vote or 2.  Not that many teams start 3-0.  Do any writers in the TB area have a vote for the ap poll.  Plus BE coaches probably look out for their own when voting, don't forget about that.
