  1. I'm not trying to start a flame war or anything...

If we don't get a lifeboat out of the NBE - honestly, how many of you are done with football?

I know some of you are going to be like, "Oh no, a true Bulls fan would never turn his back...", "Don't let the door hit you on the way out..."

But honestly, how many of your's perception of the program is going to change (if) when we are left holding the bags, stuck with a coach with zero enthusiasm and ability to win, possible recruit apathy and with a AD who from all indications recently, can't do anything right?

Is it going to bother you when USF is completely ignored by the media? Is it going to sting if (when) we have an amazing season in whatever conference we are in and no one gives a s***?

As a Green Jacket and a person who has given over $20k to various teams over the years though tickets, donations and auction fund-raisers, this is really beginning to bother me.

Some of you will say, "I'll never give up on USF", but I have to believe there are some of you who think USF has given up on us.

  2. If all of the new rumored changes occur and the NBE is left without Rutgers, UConn and maybe Cincy, does Doug just throw in the towel and keep Skip because of our financial obligations?

He'll know there are no more seats at the 'big boy conference' table. He'll know season ticket sales and some fan interest for football will suffer.

However, I'm thinking if the realignment scenario comes to pass, the only thing that will build any kind of fan interest OR momentum will be to fire Skip and completely start over.

I guess the question is, do we have the cash to buy Skip out and does DW have the balls to make a real change?

  3. Now would be a good time to just embrace the fact, like it or not, that CSH will finish the season and will be around for - at minimum - one more. I'm not saying you can't fantasize about it, if it makes you feel better, but it ain't happening (no matter how many stars you wish upon). If USF were an SEC school? Of course...BUT IT AINT . It's a fifteen year old program that is no longer going to enjoy the luxury of 'in-with-the-in-crowd' membership. Look, the nuevo Big East is a glorified CUSA and that's where we're going to be. There will be no invite to the Big [X] conference. A step backwards? Yeah, and a lot of that had to do with being in the Big East to begin with. Truthfully, I don't think we were ever as good as we thought we were...we believed we were better than our record showed. We thought, rightly or wrongly, that we deserved to sit at the big people's table. It was better than CUSA, Now...well, hard to tell the two apart. We'll spend the next decade or so playing our eight conference foes, going to the Beef O'Belks Auto Compass bowl. And at the end of next season, depending on what happens on the field (and all it takes is six wins, right, to be bowl eligible?) CSH may be still camped out on Fowler Avenue.

    Yep. +1

  4. We lose Daniels which gives Holtz cover for losing the next three games.

I am worried about Doug coming out and saying exactly this as to why Holtz will not be fired.

At the very least, Cosh needs to go at the end of the season. If Skip is unwilling to let his buddy Cosh go in order to improve the program, we will know what his priorities and commitment to USF are.

  5. Not sure this is the time to gripe about receiving an email or not, a phone call or not, etc. Seems like a great time to bring a toy or two to the game.

Sure, it's a great time to think of those less fortunate and those who lives can be made better by receiving gifts this holiday season. I am sure that those on this board who did not receive an official communication from the athletic marketing department will rise to the occasion and give what they can to this worthwhile charity.

However, I think the point of this thread was to illustrate the systemic failures of the marketing department once again and to voice disappointment in something that could of (and should of) been better had marketing gotten the word out in an effective manner. The fact that there is no mention of this on the USF Athletic site in collaboration with an email campaign or hell, even something on Facebook shows how shortsighted this initiative is, IMO.

If I were Toys-for-Tots, I would be disappointed if I thought USF was not insuring the maximum donation turnout for this event.

  6. Never said I got taken off the email distrubution list. Never said I called to complain about anyone or anthing. I said I never got the email about Toys for Tots, I called the ticket office spoke with someone who than transfered my call to the Asst AD , I left a message about the hurricane and asked for a call back. Read the emails above. I also stand by fact that Im not the only one who didnt get the email, I also stand by that its not even mentioned on the game day central. That would be the most odvious place to put it wouldnt you agree? This is not the first time that people have had not gotten emails when others have.

I Came forward with a suggestion and wanted to get the ball rolling even if it meant doing more myself, I have yet to get a call back.

The Marketing dept is horrible at best. We hear daily about how poor its ran, and how alot of fans never know whats going on. Sounds to me like you may work for the Marketing Dept, If so than maybe open your ears, listen and take the suggestions, It might actually make you and the Dept better.

perhaps you have an issue with you email provider.

by all means get the ball rolling. go to home depot. get a big bucket. tape a piece of paper on it that says donations for hurricane relief and sit in front of gate 4. why are you calling someone else to do something that you can do for yourself?

Give it a ******* break, 94 ... The email is nowhere to be found in my Outlook and it's not the first time something like this has happened to me, and obviously others. I thought there was something a while ago said about a third party that distributes emails at times which could be a problem but that one looked like it came from in house. Toys for Tots is a great program and needs to be put out there... There's still nothing on the website that I can find.

perhaps you have a problem with your email provider. I doubt they took you off the distribution list.

either way you know about it so you can bring your gift with you to the game.

people need to stop ******** about anything to do with marketing. it gets old.

I also did not receive an email mentioning Toys-for-Tots and like Dhambuc, USF seems to have no problem finding me when they want me to pony up cash or go to a banquet dinner or something.

And also like Dhambuc, I am a donor, football, basketball (and baseball) season ticket holder.

In my opinion, USF Sports Marketing often falls short when it comes to promoting our games, building excitement or maintaining contact with the fan base we do have. To me, it does not feel like (some) members of the marketing department care about the Bulls as much as people who post on here do. I wonder if that is the case at other schools.

  7. I don't think the Big XII is stable. Texas was trying to get into the Pac12. Rumors were of Texas and OU trying to get into Pac12 and bring TXTech and Oky State with them.

From what I saw on one of the boards linked in this thread, those Big XII fans do not think highly of USF. One poster said Texas would jump ship if they had to play an infant D1 school like USF every year.

Big XII is controlled by Texas and OU and everyone else is put in their place, part of the reason A&M left to escape Texas' control of the league, there is very bad blood between the two university's now, apparently Dodds has said he would never schedule A&M again after the events that lead up to the move to the SEC. Also Texas tried to strong arm (bribe?) Texas Tech into playing a game aired on the Longhorn network, were Texas Tech's opponent (not Texas) from a smaller conference had made a deal to air their games on the network. Texas Tech held and said they would cancel the game if it wasn't moved to a different network. I really don't think the grass is greener in the Big XII. We would be the bottom there in league decisions and respect. In the BEast from what I've seen we have a lot of influence within the conference and its direction. Maybe the money and stability aren't yet there, but I really don't think the Big XII is stable in the long term either. If the Pac12 wanted to expand I think Texas and OU would be first pick and willing. Pac 12 rumors were that they rejected expansion because they were satisfied with their revenue and they could not agree with Texas on distribution of media rights, as Texas wants higher revenue vs the rest of the conference, and to have their own independent network and not share the revenues with the league. Their network has so far been a failure, no providers want to get anywhere near it because they are likely to lose more subscribers than they would gain if they offer it.

we would win 1 conference champ every 50 years. there is the big 2 and all the rest.

    no thanks.

I'd rather be a big fish in a little pond and compete than be a small fish in a big pond and never amount to anything. I honestly don't care how much money it would mean for our athletic department. if we can't win big east with $2M coach and brand new facilities then there isn't much hope in big 12 regardless of all the extra money.wvu will now go back to winning one conference champ every 25 years. they have made themselves irrelevant nationally again. they had it great in the big east without miami and v tech. 3 bcs bowls and almost a shot at national champ if they hadn't gagged on a 4-7 pitt team. now they will be lucky to finish top half of league on average.

This is how I've felt about USF and realignment for a while. I totally agree with you, Bull94.

  8. Sorry about being the grammar police. As much as I'm a clown on here for my childish antics, I'm covertly a grammar/English Nazi in real life. The word I hate seeing misspelled the most on sports message boards is "LOSER". If I had a nickel for every time I saw "LOOSER" utilized, I would be able to pay the fees for this website for life... especially when someone has a well written post and "LOOSER" gets into their narrative. I hate even more when I misspell a word and don't catch it before posting... oh well... that's my OCD nature I suppose.

Hey BaltoBull... Any chance you follow the Orioles or Nationals? Just curious as the O's are playing well and they potentially could have a Beltway Series with my Nats. Machado just came up for the O's and he's crushing the ball for a 19-year old phenom.

I used to follow the O's closely when I was younger until Pete Angelos bought the team and started messing things up in the 90's. Buck Showalter has done great things with the team as of late though. And yeah, if the O's can hold onto him long enough, Machado might be the man in Baltimore in a few years.

I can't say I follow the Nationals at all.

A Beltway Series would be very interesting although I'm sure the powers that be at FOX would be less than thrilled about it.
