  1. Late July or August.  I haven't been hanging around the MC lately, so I don't know the latest update.  I think it will open up with the start of the Fall term.  They already have many parts done, painted, and ready to move stuff in.  The entire project won't be finished until they finish the "enhanced plaza," which will be where the old MC sits currently.  That will continue into Sp09 and maybe summer09.  In the end, it will have a bandstand (amphitheater) with seating near the Beefs, water fountains with bronze bulls, and a MOTL lawn with MOTL projected on the bookstore wall.

You should hit the jazz program up and get them ready for some jazz nights at the MC bandstand!  Beer and wine from the beefs... haha.

i thought all that with the bronze bulls and such was the enhanced version of the plaza.  i think they are building it at a watered down version. still nice, just not as nice.  either way, hopefully they will get the enhanced version and it will still be WAY better than the old MC.

what do u mean watered down version??? the enhanched version has already been approved and is going to get built......

They changed a few things in the plaza... but it's pretty much the same.  The entire amount requested was approved by the Student Senate a while back.

One thing they added is a bandstand near the Beef's...

The thing is almost done... less then one month!

"University Mall, which represents over 60% of the dollar value of the original mall disposition program, has attracted interest from institutional investors and we are optimistic about the pricing and ultimate execution on the sale of this property," stated Michael P. Glimcher, President and CEO.

Current Status of Mall Disposition Program

       * University Mall (Tampa, FL) - the Company has several prospective buyers interested in the property and expects to have a formal sales contract in place shortly. Based upon current interest in the property, the Company expects a sale of the asset at a significant gain during the first half of 2007.

Now, this could just be me wanting USF to buy this place... but does INSTITUTIONAL INVESTORS mean a big time investor or an INSTITUTION like USF, or our backers (foundation).  Dr. Genshaft DID say that we will be raising up to a billion in our fundraising campaign, and stated their will be good surprises.  Could this purchase be part of it?

  6. I don't think a OCS stadium is needed for a National Championship or even the arms race in football. Personally I think the atmospheres of the stadium created by the fans are more a draw for recruits.

However, from a program pride/student life/campus gameday/alumni campus reunion type stuff you need an OCS. I am all for one when the time comes and money is available in a feasible manner.

There is no doubt in my mind that USF will have an OCS by 2020.

Would an OCS be good for...

To have an NC or any success?  Of course not!

    Recruits?  Yes.

    Building of campus spirit? Yes.

    Traditions? Yes and many.

    Alumni pride and return? Yes.

It's just that things that bites all of us and drives us insane.  PRIDE.  Recurits, players, students, admin, alumni, communicty can be PROUD of our program.  An OCS is a SYMBOL of pride.  It's a symbol of everyone coming together.

I agree, no later than 2020... maybe as close as 2010 and they could start planning VERY soon.

The Sun Dome is an on campus arena (OCA);  is the the Sun Dome a center of pride and tradition? Is it a SYMBOL of pride?  Is it a drawing card for the return of Alumni.

As far as recruiting goes, both CJL and recruits have stated that RJS is a big plus.

Football and Basketball are different... sorry.

Plus, I am talking about a really nice OCS, not something that looks like the Sun Done does now.

It will be a great reason for alumni to come back to campus.

It will be good for building campus life and a true campus atmosphere.  It's one of the few events that 45,000 to 60,000 people would be on campus at the same time.

It would be a symbol of pride like I said.  I will be the rallying point of BullsNation, and it will be on OUR turf.
