I really dont like blaming losses on the refs, but this one would have been close if they refs were at least decent.
Let's not forget that the Marquette and Notre Dame games were poorly officiated as well. We're just not good enough to play against a team with 8 players on the floor at any given time.

I guess no one noticed that USF couldnt get a foul call on their end until 1:30 left in the game. When your only two legit post players have four fouls apeice it's not hard to figure out why they killed us in the paint in the second half.
-
Cann wanted to play. McCullum explicitly stated he'd have rather he sat, but the player said he wanted to play. He knew the consequence.
I like how people were complaining last game about the fact that Cann hadn't played and now that he has, others are complaining about that.

The refs were as bad as I've ever seen. I've seen some bad calls go against us, but never 4 or 5 in a row like last night. They're calling jump balls on one end, but not on the other for the same exact play. In the second half Kantrell went inside three times in a row, got absolutly mugged without a call, then they turn around and call one of our guys for breathing on syracuse. So they get both of our interior players with 4 fouls and then they go inside all day. If you dont think that has to do with why they pulled away (with points in the paint) then you're insane.
Absolutly horrible refs. I hope this offseason the Big East takes a long look at their refs because I can't say i've been overly impressed.

I think tonight's crowd was quite possibly the worst i've seen at any event since i've been at USF. They were asleep the entire time. Overall just really crappy and it didn't help to have 60% Syracuse fans either.

I dont think this hurts as much as you guys say it does. The kid had two strikes already...not many thought he'd make it through. We've got some kids lined up behind him that have shown a ton of promise, he just opened the door for them.

Found some attendance numbers from the baseball media guide.  Here are the numbers from the first weekend last year versus Northwestern:
2/10-  818
2/11-  486
2/12-  296
Using my simple math skills that equals 1600.  From what I've seen and read, we've averaged about 700 per game, so that is a total of 2100, so we are already 500 above last years average.  So we didn't double it like I predicted, but we did get 1/3 more traffic at the game.  We don't get ND for a three game series this year, but GT comes to town so that should balance it out.  Also, Louisville was the next biggest draw last year thanks to Coach Prado and family.
I've been to two games already and notice a difference.  Once we get the beer sales sorted out and once hoops season is over, all USF fans can turn their attention to the Baseball team.  Go support the team, you won't regret it.  It truly is the best bargain for all USF sports.  ÂÂ
While the numbers have increase, there is still some novelty involved with Prado, the changes they've made at the Red, etc. I think ultimatly any boost in attendance will be due to strong play.

Opening weekend will always have good crowds.

I'm still waiting on last year's. :-[

OK, here comes the controversy.
Bring in teams that people want to see us play against and you will raise the attendance.  FAMU, UCF, WV were good draws.  Even though FAMU and UCF are not big names, there is local interest.  But Elon and Wofford?  I don't think so.
Playing these programs boost attendance but it doesnt grow the fan base. Filling the stands with the other team's fans is not how we should plan to sell out.
I think Shoop answered his own question...it comes down to winning consistantly. That's the only thing the team can control. So it's the only thing they should worry about. You know what they say, If you build it, they will come.

If you recall, we were in a lot of games last year and it didn't seem to matter.

Not on in Tampa.

I just want to know how anyone outside of our coaching staff can determine how well we "could" have done. Because to me, the only way one can measure how well we could have done is to look at the kids we missed out on THAT WE WERE IN CONTENTION FOR. Patrick Grant, Jock Sanders, Robert Marve, etc. On the other hand you need to look at the kids we got (esp. in need positions) that we weren't "supposed" to get...guys like Edenfield or Sutton. Given our history, or lack thereof, I dont think we can be compared head to head with places like Florida, USC, Ohio State, Michigan and therefore saying we could have done better based on what someone else did is illogical.

Lelo is fundraising already. I like it.

I think Deion Sanders helping a kid make a recruiting decision when the kid is looking at Deion's alma mater is a bit of a conflict of interest.

I hope you told them why you canceled.

sometimes i question the "darksides" basketball knowledge.
they are very good at pointing out W vs L and final scores but dont really understand how the game is played.
Ari was not being inflamatory, so you don't need to be either.
I agree that we need another scoring option something that can take a 15 ft jumper with confidence. I don't care who it comes from as long as they're on the floor.

Dont forget how great rutgers is or how great USC is.
Also, Leavitt is the worst coach in the Big East.
-
FYI: FSU has signed SIX OLinemen today.
Also, I dont think any of these guys start as freshmen.
-
Also, if USFNation is listing them, it's offical. I promise.
-
and hopefully Edenfield and Jackson.
-
I'm surprised at this one. Like I said on scout, this is probably a better situation for him given our depth at the LB spot.

But I thought he was a lock for Toledo! ;D

WVU has the best daycare program on the east coast.
Friday Night Lights-WVU Game Moved
in USF South Florida Bulls Athletics
Posted
Leavitt isn't a big fan of Friday night games...it takes the focus off of the HS game and we can't get recruits there. Given that this will be one of the bigger games on our schedule, i'm sure it'll have an impact on recruiting. From a recruiting standpoint being on ESPN doesnt matter because the recruits wont be able to watch, but maybe they'll catch something on sportscenter. I'm just glad this game isnt later in the year.
