  1. As of the end of Saturday's Spring Game, myself, the greatness that is BigShoop and various other members of our crew are now official, having purchased 8 season tickets for our beloved Bulls.

I'm sure we'll still cause havoc in the front row of the student section because its fun and, well, because we can, but we are now also some of the newest USF season ticket holders.

  2. My hope is that the coaching staff wants to see how Grothe moves the offense with the "2nd string" receivers versus PJ with the "1st teamers". They have lots of practice time to build a comfort level with the receivers, so if Grothe moves his offense better than PJ moves his, I think it will stand out a lot more in the coaches eyes.

  3. Unfortunately there is no way to make a comparison between the two at this point in time.

That is a situation where it is Oklahoma's own home field, which is probably painted up at all times (unless there is some type of change made.)

The only time I see us ponying up the cash to paint the field would be for nationally televised games (a'la TCU a few years ago). If we see the field completely painted up at all this season it'll be for the Rutgers game.

Besides, if we paint it up all nice and pretty for the spring game it'll just give us something else to complain about.  ;D

  4. I think it was changed this year because the NCAA bought the rights to the NIT last summer and changed the bracketing to resemble the NCAA Tournament with seeding and regions and all that. I believe that because of this the first and second round games are played at the home arena of the higher seed.

  5. if ftu/ou.oc beats usf that would be all evidence anyone would need to fire leavit and AD dullard in one fell swoop

and Coach Mac too, I'm sure plenty of people would find a way to throw blame his way as well    ;)

I still love how we find a way to be upset about these things.

We lost our best offensive player, still have question marks on much of the offensive side of the ball as well as a question mark on the defensive side of the ball (D-Line) and are coming off of a .500 season, yet we're ranked how many slots higher than last season and still find reason to complain.

  6. it was 20 points.

even better looking than that is if you take our 4 games over teams in the top 25 we were only outscored by 13 points.

o well, that still doesnt get you an invite to any post season games

Well if you listen to some people around here all those teams could have beaten us by 40 "if they wanted to"   ::)

The BE Tournament just started today and I'm already fired-up for next season. I do believe if finances allow I'm going to be in line for a couple of season tix.

  7. I think my favorite part of this season has been all of the "fans" who care so much about our team not giving the team credit for how much they have fought and competed this season, but rather using the "::insert name of opponent:: could have beaten us by ::insert margin of victory:: if they wanted to" as just another excuse to bash Coach Mac.

And for everyone who wants to say that Calhoun's comments were just lipservice, just remember two things:

    1. That is a man who has seen a lot more basketball and has been a lot more successful than any of us have been coaching a college program.

    2. If you have watched the team this entire season, the things that he has credited the team and Coach Mac for was pretty much constant throughout the entire season.

  8. Sadly, only a handful of students care about our teams.  I like the suggestion of playing more regional and Florida teams and national teams, those are the only games I get excited for.  The Big East football teams don't excite me or the general student and I doubt it ever will because we lack rivals, we are far away from the other schools, and BE football is seen as on par with the last conference we were in accept we now can go to a BCS bowl.  We need to go to the  ACC or SEC, period.  Until then, student support for our sports programs will be weak.  There was a big difference between the Central game and the UofL and WVU games, students cared about the Central game, at first the UofL game was one of those typical to be seen and then we started to blow them out so some started to care, but the WVU game, it was like no one cared and you are just there to be seen and to chill with friends.

This post puts it in a nutshell.

Until the attitude changes we're going to be rowing this boat in circles. The excitement should come from going and seeing OUR team and cheering OUR team on. The excuse that the opponents don't excite you is downright pathetic.

Playing more regional and Florida teams is all well and good, but you have to take some things into consideration. One, OCC games are generally scheduled years in advance, so you can't just snap your fingers and schedule a game with UF, FSU, Miami, Georgia, Alabama, etc.. Two, if we do schedule those teams, you'll have to travel to be at the game, cause they're not coming here to play us (with the exception of Miami, props to them for making the series a home and home).

And if opponents that don't excite people is what is keeping them away from games, what good would a move to the ACC do? After Miami, Va Tech and Boston College, who is "exciting" in that conference? The BE has Louisville, WVU and Pitt, all opponents I find just as "exciting" as any ACC school.
