  1. Sorry, I meant bandwagon with regard to the OC.  I should have been more clear.  But, again, the offense doesn't operate in a vacuum. There are going to be days when you feel like opposing defenses are wired into your headsets. I got the sense that this was the case in this game. Also, USF did make adjustments in the second half. They started throwing the ball....with success. Then the running game got going a little because of that success. UConn was just extremely tough in the red zone. From what I saw, not much of anything was working really well against a fired up UConn defense. I dunno. I just thought the game was lost by the head coach.
  2. You mean the guy that UConn's defense had been keying on all day? Give ME a break. UConn had Hall's number all day. The only time Hall started getting some room to run is when USF's passing game started clicking. Whatever, I'm not going to debate you all on this but I'm fairly certain I am more objective about what I saw than you are at what you saw.
  3. Man, you guys are a riot. Some of you act like the offense operates in a vacuum and there is no defense on the field or a DC in the box. Just changing the plays that were called doesn't guarantee that UConn wouldn't have stuffed them. I don't see anything wrong with the call to quick snap it. USF was simply trying to get some leverage on a UConn defense that had been stuffing the run all day. Makes sense to me. I don't care if you have the backup center in. Maybe that's the better time to do it. The trick play was simply snuffed out by good defense. If either had worked, you guys would be lauding the call and praising the OC for his innovation....just like you did after the Louisville game. Yes, USF should have took the field goal. That one is on the head man himself. He takes the three and you guys aren't even talking about the trick play. USF has overachieved this year. Revel in it. Historically, there is nothing to compare to USF's success in such a short time span. Still, that doesn't mean that you aren't going to have to pay some dues. The UConn game is just an example of that. You can be sure that all the coaches in the Big East who stand on the field opposite of Leavitt would just love to see him bolt to KSU. If he doesn't leave, we'll settle for him purging the coaching staff of those that got USF where they are. Oh yeah, including this fan as well. You guys are probably going to slam me for saying this but there seems to be a lot of bandwagon fans here who don't much like riding with the band.
  4. First and foremost, USF should only schedule top teams that are willing to come to Tampa, even if it has to be a 2 for 1. This will generate interest and will fill put fannies in the seats. Then you strive to get some wins over those teams which, when it happens, will create lingering hype and will help swell your fan base. Of course, if you start ripping off some wins, nobody will play you anymore. However, that's a problem you want to have. If everybody wants to play you? You're Temple.
  5. Thanks Bulliever but I'm good now.  I think I was just having problems with the proxy server where I work.  Today, I experienced no problems. Wow D-dub, that was deep.  We really need to talk more.  You read a little more into that than I intended to convey.  This is just a hypothetical conversation these two might have while Jimmy is drilling Mikey.  In SuperMario games, the 1-up signifies lives.  In my little cartoon, they represent the fact that Swofford is significantly more skilled at conference brinksmanship than is Tranghese and is consistently advanced in foreward thinking.  Beyond that, no more thought went into it.  I did use Syracuse because of their earlier flirtations but UConn was simply a coincidence.  Anyway, just forget about the dialogue.  It is secondary to the picture which is simply to convey my belief that no matter how much arguing there can be about which is the better conference, I do know which conference has the better commissioner. Also, DW is exactly right. Long-time BE fans have watched their conference decline considerably under Tranghese's leadership. If I had the power to do anything with the conference, the first thing I would do is replace Tranghese.
  6. Okay, I'll start: MikeyT: Jimmy? JimmyS: Yes, Mikey? MikeyT: If you stop, I'll give you Syracuse.... JimmyS: Mike, you ignorant slut. I can take Syracuse anytime I want. MikeyT: Okay, I'll throw in UConn too.....
  7. Who's your daddy Mikey? Now imagine Mikey's answer in his best Marge Simpson voice...."you are Jimmy!.....You are...ar...ar....ar....ar.....ar.....ar.....ar.....ar!....." Shhh, if you are very quiet, you can almost hear the bell for each 1 UP? I just needed an outlet to vent and this is what I came up with. I'm tired of our leadership getting us shafted. For fun and games, all are welcome to add dialogue to the scene above....If you're up for it, use this image in your post followed by what would be, I hope, fictional dialogue....  [img=http://www.bigeastboards.com/userfiles/whosyourdaddymikey.gif]
  8. Good looking young calf. As Teddy Roosevelt would say...Bully for you! ;D
  9. Wow, that was rather ambiguous, vague, nebulous, hazy, tenuous, fuzzy, and indistinct. ??? But, hey, he didn't say anything bad about the Big East so I'd call it a win. That was a classic example of what you have to write about college football in the middle of June.
  10. Honestly, this kind of surprises me because I truly think that Rick Catlett has a backroom handshake kind of deal with the ACC to discard the Big East affiliation as one of the conditions of Jacksonville hosting the ACC title game.  What's Catlett's interest?  Well, the Gator Bowl Association will run the title game for the ACC as per the announcement awarding Jax the game.  I just find it difficult to believe that Jax won out simply because they have 7,000 more seats in the stadium than Charlotte which is in the heart of ACC country.  I also can't figure out any other reason why they would want to trade the Big East #2 for a BigTen #4 or #5 as well as lose the possibility of a Notre Dame.  Conspiracy theorist that I am, I believe the choice of Jax was pre-determined and used as leverage to get the Gator Bowl Association to drop Big East affiliation as part of the ACC's ongoing effort to destroy the Big East and dominate the eastern market.  If I could just get my hands on a copy of the report prepared by the Bonham Group, a sports marketing firm out of Denver, which laid the foundation for ACC expansion, I think it would prove all! ÂÂ
  11. Very succinct. I gotta be sure to run up there next election and vote to keep him in office. **** skippy!
  12. Actually, didn't he spend a lot of time chasing Jamie Lee Curtis around with a big bowie knife?  What makes it even more disturbing and twisted is that this was when JLC still had her boy-chest. ÂÂ
  13. Gold......that's priceless......  ...... bahahahahaha Heard on the radio today that they are going to present a list of 10 names with a write-in option.  Majority rules... http://www.gomarquette.com/index.php?s=&url_channel_id=1&url_article_id=6675&url_subchannel_id=&change_well_id=2
  14. Thanks, I did live in SC at the time I started posting on these boards.  I lived outside of York and commuted to Charlotte.  I've since moved to Gastonia, NC, and just kept the moniker for continuity.  However, I am West Virginia born and inbred.   Whereabouts are you?  By the way, why does the Cardinal logo have square teeth?  How intimidating is that?  Sharpen those babies up a little and then, maybe, we're talking about some ferocity.  One more thing Bulls fans.  Just remember......barn.....vibrating machine......24/7.  DW, you flatter me.....love you too!  As for the avatars, having worked with images a lot, 65 pixels doesn't scale too well if you started with an even number of pixels on the x and  y axis.  80x80 would be ideal.  60x60 would be okay too. ÂÂ
  15. Thank you. I've given myself a little tour and this seems a fairly mature board. Some good discussions...I'll be back.
  16. Geez, going to have to redo my avatar for this board....it's been compressed.... Anyway, you gotta admit, the Pitt logo with the Panther sucked so I was glad to see them get rid of that.  Must say the Bulls logo is rather cool.  One of the better ones I've seen. If you go down the list, really, you have to settle on the Mountaineer all bias injected.  He's armed and, depending on how much time he spent in Sunnyside the night before the game, he could be dangerous. Pitt?  Maybe.  But, how many times to you see a Panther?  Maybe in Florida it is common....but in Pittsburgh?  I'm sure the Steelers were bummed when they learned that Panthers was taken..... Syracuse?  Well, it does hurt if you get squirted in the eye by an orange.  Is squirted a word? Cincy?  What the hell is a bearcat anyway?  Some kind of weird animal husbandry experiment gone awry?  I'd hate to see what they came up with before they landed on the bearcat mutation.... Rutgers?  A knight is kind of scary until you throw scarlet in front of it.....then there's that darn Monty Python scene.  Alright, we'll call it a draw..... Louisville?  There are some pretty ferocious birds out there but.....Cardinals ain't one of 'em, I don't care how many teeth you give it.... UConn?  Sorry DW4UConn but a dog humping my leg doesn't exactly instill fear......besides, I bet Jonathan has been neutered.... Well, that leaves a bull and a Mountaineer.  I once had to run my @ss off to get away from a bull but, in this case, I gotta with the guy who is willing to wear a dead animal on his head.  Besides, with a .50 caliber musket, he can drop the bull in its tracks.  Hell, if I'm a champion bull, just keep me hooked up to that vibrator they use to propagate the champion qualities in successive generations. Now that would be the life, I'd never leave the barn...... Look forward to chatting with you folks in your inaugural BE season.......
