  1. ...this is good news for all of college basketball. http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/college/2540180
  2. In my opinion, USF's offense will depend on how quickly the incoming TB's can pick up the offense, specifically Hall, and at least one of the HS TB's (Jones, Copeland, or Ponten). By picking up the offense, I am referring to their ability to run the right routes out of the backfield and pick up the blocking schemes appropriately. This is vital for a coaching staff to be able to disguise plays and run both passing and running plays out of a base offense. If the TB's can't prove to be anything more than a running threat, the coaches are limited on what they can call when that particular TB is in the game. Fisher hasn't proven he can be a feature back, even though he has proven that he is a very talented player. I think he fits the mold at slot or as a 3rd down back. Obviously, the QB position is key, but it looks like JL has been pleased with the improvement of PJ and RB. Again, I think it boils down to the TB's that are to report in August.
  3. I believe TCU is joining the Mountain West Conference.
  4. Basketbull - The NCAA limits every Division I school to 85 scholarships, period. There are no extra provisions for "booster funded" scholarships. From a historical perspective, the number was reduced by the NCAA form unlimited; initially reduced to 115, then down to 95, and then again to the current 85. Many experts believe this single move by the NCAA has had more effect on the paridy of NCAA football then anything else.
  5. Concerning the RB's - I don't think the talent is arguable...clearly it is a VERY talented group. But even the most talented players needs time to learn the offense. And one August camp is a short amount of time to pick everything up, particulary blocking schemes/blitz pickup and route recogntion out of the backfield. Offensive coaches need RB's who know the system so they can open the playbook and disguise plays. Next year....look out.
  6. Overall...the USF D appears to be quite talanted...especially at LB w/ great size, speed, and depth. Your D has always impressed and played with great emotion and heart. Offense is the concern...no proven playmaker at QB, although there is experience, and then the RB situation that would have me most concerned. It's not a good situation to be in when your coaches verbalize that that TB(s) they expect to contribute may not be on campus yet. There is just not that much time to learn everything in the fall, especially for such a demanding job as TB. OL and WR look good though, no doubt.
