  1. Raptor...I expect to drive South around late Sept/early Oct with my wife(depending on the Cuse FB schedule).  Having nonstop flights  on Allegiant Airlines to Syracuse/St Pete Clearwater will help as I can fly back and forth once or twice in the Fall with or w/o my wife for a Cuse game and to close down the cottage by late October.

BTW, I took a group of Cuse fans to RayJay in '06 and '12.  We had a great time for both games and the USF fans treated us great.  I plan to bring a group of about 200 Cuse fans in next year for a tailgate.  I will open my Syracuse tailgate to any USF fans who travel north in '16.

  2. Apis:  I actually grew up in Syracuse (went to college at a SUNY that didn't play D-1 sports).  The USAF sent me to San Antonio...I'm taking early retirement next year and will be spending the Fall through Spring in Tampa Bay with summers up in NY at my lakehouse.  I'm a NY'er with time in TX, FL, IN and CA.

  3. Cuse fan here...watched some of your game the other day.

    1.  Taggart will get you there.  Your team is playing better.  I see a bowl game this year.  Frankly, the AAC has several easy games. I'm guessing 7-5 sounds about right.  NCSt is there for the taking this Saturday...they are still trying to find their identity.  Hope your new QB can elevate...it looked pretty good.

    2.  Day games in September Suck in Tampa.  Kills attendance but TV rules. It is what it is.

    3.  I hope winning brings back the fans...you have a great tailgate scene.

    4.  I'll always be a Cuse fan but, I'm moving to T-SP next year and I will be adopting USF as my 2nd team.  I won't be hard core as I still bleed Orange but will root for you to do well as long as it isn't against Cuse.  Hope you don't mind.

Finally, (This isn't meant to ingratiate myself to you but...it surely will LOL)  UCF fans are some of the most annoying fans out on the Internets.  Every fan base has their share of T-shirt knuckleheads and jerks...but they take it to a higher level.  How do you guys put up with them?  They are like Rutgers fans to us (Cuse).

  4. Is there a buyout clause for Syracuse? I don't think they drop us but you never know. I didn't think Indiana would have

Cuse is at USF first...even if they were not it would be really stupid to piss off USF.  Syracuse needs games in Florida for Recruiting (Students and FB players) as well as a nice destination for traveling Orange Fans.

Also, it doesn't hurt for USF to schedule Syracuse.  You do draw students from NY.  Also, I assume you want to keep Cuse close if the ACC ever needs another school or two.

One of Louisville's best friends to get them in the ACC was Syracuse's AD who vouched for Louisville's strengths to the old line ACC schools.

  5. The leaves around Syracuse will have minimal change...however, if you have a rental car a day trip to the Adirondacks would be spectacular.   Old Forge is about 2 hours away.  I would go there.

Agreed that Cuse isn't high powered (not since McNabb era really) but they are still a big name in college sports.  Cuse fans are excited about this being over Columbus Day Weekend next year.

  6. The game at Syracuse in 2016 (9/17) should be a great time for Bulls fans to visit.  BTW, Nonstop flights on Allegiant out of St. Pete/Clearwater to Syracuse (or Tampa to Rochester).  Also, non-stops from Orlando to Cuse.  If Any of you are sportsmen...30 mins north is the best area in the East for Salmon Fishing.  Also, the leaves will be nearing peak in the Adirondacks.

I will open my tailgate up to any Bulls Fan that will travel up. We had 130 fans last Friday for the Nova Tailgate.

Those making fun of our 2 OT win versus Nova should remember that Nova is in the Top 10 of FCS and we had 2 starting OL out and our QB got ejected.  Still we played like crap and should have won by 14-17 pts.  Our next game @CMU will tell more. Syracuse has post season bowl wins the last four seasons over Kansas St, WVU and Minnesota...we don't suck anymore like we did under Greg Robinson.

  7. Cuse fan here...I have a group of 90-100 Cuse fans in Section 335 + 336...so I take it the 300 level will be pretty empty then? Cuse has been having issues getting fans to attend to this year. Really don't understand it.

If I had to guess I figure we'll have about 2-3000 Cuse fans at the game. Looking for a great time...I think this game is a toss up. We'll be tailgating in a private lot off Woodlawn. Come by and say hi.

  8. Off Himes Ave is the old Mall(now a parking lot) its acrossed the street from the stadium. You wont miss the tailgaiting. Lots of room so you should have no problem. There or any of the Stadium parking lots. Also Al Lopez Park is a short walk and lots of room as well.

Thanks any idea what they charged at the Old Mall and/or Al Lopez Park last year?

i wouldnt recommend old mall for that age group...

thats traditionally a student tailgate area...

That is what I thought...For our age group (30-70) you recommend just parking in the lots at RayJay or going across the street to Al Lopez? The park (Lopez) looks pretty good but it seems like they enforce you parking in official "lined" parking spots. Anybody have an idea how quickly it fills up for a typical Big East Noon Kickoff? The Cost?

Fill up for a noon start?? :) Only if we're kicking ass and taking names, any other time, not so much.

Well I expect we'll both be playing for 1st place in the Big East that game. :yeahbaby: We are playing a very tough non-conference schedule (i.e...polar opposite of Rutgers) but I'm thinking 8 wins right now for Cuse. Leadership is much better this year and talent is improved along with depth.

  10. On the west side of campus near the botanical gardens is a great place for away fans to tailgate on game day

Are you going to be giving us rides over to the game?

Uh oh ... looks like someone has been given similar directions when going to away games before! :D

 If you click on my blogspot link in the original thread...I think it will explain why I'm a tad smarter than the normal visiting dude...if I was with my regular crew the Lot behind the TV station sounds great...however, we have a mixed bag of people in this group of 90. Anyone know anything about Al Lopez park? Cost? When given the choice setting up on grassy fields are always a plus. Once again thanks for the help...hopefully I'll be able to meet a few of you. Our menu will be simple but we plan on bringing some Hofmann coneys...I suspect our game will be a noon kickoff. Looking at MattSarz's TV website make it a 50/50% chance.

I'm trying to talk my wife into moving from San Antonio to FL somewhere close to MacDill...you guys might have me as a tag-along soon. Much, much prefer you guys over UCif'ers.

  12. Hey guys Cuse fan here...we are doing one last tailgate to USF. I have a group of 90 Cuse fans meeting for a tailgate this October. The last time I was there (2006) we had a smaller group and I arrived at the opening and parked in Lot 7 (IIRC) and late arrivers came and found me. I think I might try a non-RayJay Lot this year...any suggestions of reasonably close lots that can handle 30 or so Cuse cars of laid back tailgaters? I have a few ideas but I want to see if I'm missing any. I'll update my guide accordingly.

BTW, most of us will be from 30 to 70 years old and we love to interact with our host school's fans. Tailgating is about the food, drink and camaraderie.

  13. Im with you Griggsy...people who still root for their "home" town team sicken me.....I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, but have been down here for over 10 years.  How anyone can root against the home town team is beyond me and in my opinion truly does show they are bandwagon fans.  Oh, the Devil Rays suck so Im going to still root for the yanks/sox/etc... Its pathetic.  And hey, you can have your old memories (I still remember the back to back stanley cups with Lemiuex and Jagr...and the Pirates going from horrible to division winners during the Bonds/Bonilla/Van Slyke days)...but guess what thats the past...now I get to be part of memories of the Lightning stanley cup, and the Bucs superbowl win...and the frustration of being a Devil Rays fan.  Thats what a true fan is....

    Griggsby hates you,too.....why?

    You're a friggin northerner.
