  1. Funny things can happen if you stay to the bitter end . . . I remember one game where we were being hopelessly blown out by Rutgers or Pitt, and this guy in my section stands up and loudly chastizes every one who got up to leave early. Then as the last of the team and cheerleaders meander off the field, he turns to leave, and I yell to the loudmouth, "DON'T LEAVE NOW"! Eveyone had a good laugh in an otherwise dismal situation. GB!

  2. The crowd never really got into the game. The team was sharp as long as they stayed focused. But once they started to feel comfortable, they reverted to their old tricks. UTC may turn out to be better than most realize now, and our next opponent will dictate a more serious attitude among the team. Let's see what happens in the low humidity of the Sierra Nevadas on the road. If we steal a one-point victory there, I'll be happy. GB!

  3. Premature Excitement . . . I too have suffered from that painful, embarassing, and humiliating condition in the past. But this year, for some strange reason, it seems I have been permanently cured. For example, I appear to have zero interest in listening to Skip and the players talk about the upcoming season on video. Just save it all for the next game I say . . . end of story. GB!

  4. From reading everyone's comments, I see I'm not the only one who has actually changed seats to get a better HOT experience. It's the biggest factor in creating the college football experience for me (vs. pro football). I guess I'm open to the idea of amplification, but only if it is professionally executed and integrated within RayJays thunderous PA (my ears hurt just thinking about those pre-game commercials). My generally negative stance about sound amplification is rooted in having to endure the University of Georgia's Redcoat Band playing that same droning riff over and over and over again with their **** amplified guitar bass. Although I think the SEC outlawed that practice some years ago (thank you God), they were the epitome of the Johnny-One-Note band. I never want that to happen to 8_va's most famous musical composition. He should get royalties for that . . . and I think his genius is right up there next to Beethoven. GB!

  5. Is 8_va joking about the microphones? I thought several years ago he was against the idea (i.e., making us look as impotent as the other U's band). I've had seats in various locations over the years (but not in the upper decks). Walking around RayJay I can hear HOT clearly, even from the parking lots before/after the game. I know alot of you disagree and I admit there certainly could be some acoustic dead spots. I don't want to rehash those old arguments; I'm just surprised by 8_va's current stance. Maybe it was a joke that flew right over my head . . . if so, NEVERMIND. GB!!

  6. I've never bought into this so-called rivalry thing and will probably never attend a USF-UCF game. That being said, I see two positive things that could come out of this. First, the clueless national media, second-rate ESPN commentators, and uninformed public will be forced to realize we are two different schools. No more "UC . . . er USF" comments. They will eventually learn. Second, the recent mess with ESPN could give both schools a common enemy. To me, ESPN = Disney. Boycott anyone? I'm only kidding about this, but it wouldn't look good if the entire I-4 corridor had ill will towards the Mouse House. GB!
