  1. Should be a great event.  Thanks to all that plan on attending.  Don't forget the home opener on Friday the 9th at 6 pm.  Nice thing about this years weekend series games is that the Saturday games are at 6 pm instead of noon or 1 pm.  That way family's have no excuse to bring the little ones out for an early evening game after little league, etc.

  2. and I gotta say while I understand UCF fans  excited of getting an oncampus stadium, that pic you posted is nothing to brag about it looks like a high school stadium erector set.

While I do not care for UCF, I do think they are taking a big step in building the OCS.  The picture I have seen on the UCF homepage for athletics look pretty good.  Despite the fact that it is pretty much a steel built stadium, the exterior looks good (per the artist drawings).

While I like the fact that we play in Raymond James, I'd still prefer to play in a 40K+ steeel stadium of our own, packed with fans and students.  No doubt that they will have a huge increase in attendance next year.

USF should do whatever they can over the next 5 years to get an OCS.

  3. it is so premature to count on ford

there are 3 guys ahead of him on depth chart

Smazza...don't think anyone is really "counting" on Ford but rather hoping that he becomes the running back that he is hyped up to be.  He has the physical tools as we all know.  I still think it's a lot to ask of a freshman to come in a be the "guy".  I'd expect to see Plancher/Williams/Ponton get most of the carries early unless Ford shows that he is clearly better.

  4. Welcome to the world of corporate responses... I would've expected a more sincere sendoff for Frey's loyalty. His response is a valuable lesson learned and should be noted for those who work ungodly hours by slavedrivers!

Sheriff...I have to agree that CJL could always give praise to past coaches who put so much into the program.  You say that his response was a "corporate like response", well I say yes it was and he is like the CEO of the program.  As I'm sure you know, the corporate world is one where hard work pass off, and if CJL has to work his assistants that hard to achieve success than so be it.  I don't think you will find one extremely successful or wealthy person out there who doesn't put in the hourse to get it done.  I myself am one who values family/quality time more so than the $$ that goes in my pocket.  There's just those out there that choose success over what others value more.

Despite the fact that CJL is hard to get along with and seems to run his assistants ragid doesn't minimize the fact that they all have gained valuable experiences while at USF and will only make them better at their next positions.

I guess a question to be asked is why does Burnham stick around if CJL is hard to work with?  Is it possible that he comes from the same school of hard work that CJL does?  Maybe some of these younger coaches have a different mentality.  I for one sure see that in my profession where the kids coming out of school just don't have the same work ethic.

  5. Brad...can you keep this as an Important Topic on the board?

The baseball and softball programs are having a kickoff banquet Thursday Feb 8th.  Coach Prado did something similar to this when he was at UL and it turned into a great annual event.

We all know that softball has been doing some great things over the years and baseball is on the right track getting back to one of the power teams in the country.

Come on out and show your support.

  6. I believe they are in the early stages of drafting plans to add boxes in the Sun Dome.  Also...I think the floor this year is new and was purchased after one of the basketball movies that came out last year.  I can find out the details if anyone is that interested.  But yes the floor is new this year.  The main reason to buy a new one was they really felt that the floor they had before was not the main reason for so many injuries over the past few years but definately had something to do with it.
