  1. Venture sounds to risky.  Stay and if you wanna start your own biz, sock away a large portion of that salary and start something of your own in 8-10 yrs.  At $150K annually, you will be financially set in 10 yrs...easy.

In 8-10 years you can have a wife and kids, and may not be able to take the risk.  $36K is nothing.  If that scares you, you are not a risk taker.  There's nothing wrong with that.  If you are an entrpeneur, go out on your own, if not take the stabilityof making someone else wealthy.

Also, my wife owns her own recruiting firm, she says it's a bad sign if you have to resign to get a raise.  Can create problems down the road as well.

  2. I personally don't like working for someone else.  I do because I have to, for now at least.  My wife worked for someone else and made them a lot of money.  We asked ourselves, why are we making someone else rich?  She left and started her own firm and has tripled her salary working only working part-time (Had a baby last year).  She is now working it full time, and I am about to leave my job to join her.  Your current job is similar.  If you can go out and get the business, why share the profit?  Your still young and are not tied down yet.  No wife, no kids. Take a chance.  Don't have any regrets.  If it doesn't work out, I'm positive another company would love to have you.  What do you have to lose?

Where would Bill Gates, Donald Trump, etc. be of they didn't take chances and start their own company?  I used to work for a guy in Tampa who started his own appraisal company.  He made alot of money, invested wisely, and now spends his days working deals on the golf course trying to figure out to spend his $50M plus.

You just have to decide if you are a risk taker or not.  You can make a good living working for someone else but you don't get wealthy working for someone.

What I read on this board from you, you seem like a risk taker, who has what it takes to be successful.  Good Luck!

  3. Too early to look ahead?

South Florida is one of a few schools to have already offered 2008 linebacker Lerentee McCray. The Dunnellon, Fla., prospect claims the Bulls are one of his early favorites as well along with Miami, Florida State, Arkansas, Florida and Virginia Tech

Can we change our name to the McBulls?  We signed 6 guys whose last name name begins with Mc and now we are already looking at another for next year.  Change our name and we are a lock.  You think McDonalds will pay USF for naming rights?

  4. Ferdinand:

Actually in order to have the tickets for next season, you would need to make the entire contribution by June 30, 2007 and then you could go on the quarterly.  Your donation must be paid prior to end of the fiscal year.  The ticket guys should be telling you this as well.

Also, keep in mind the donation check must come from one person and only one persons name can be on the account.  We won't accept 8 checks to go towards one donation.  It's a tax issue.

If you have any specific questions feel free to call me in the office or I can answer your questions here.  Thanks for your interest.

    Eric

I specifically asked him when the first payment would need to be made and he did say July.  But, if that's not the case, I guess we will be making the entire payment before June 30th.

I will contact him again to get more info.

So I guess if you could wait until July 1st to avoid having to pay this years donation with no benefits?

  5. How do you figure?

He played last year at Hargrave and the year before he was a stud at sarasota?  Its pretty tough to not be the starter and still get 37 TD's in 2005 (1 year ago)

How has he not been starting in 3 years?

He was a senior at Sarasota in 2004, played with about 6 other RBs at Hargrove in 2005, did not play anywhere in 2006.  The 3 years will be 2004 - 2007 when he gets to play here.

  6. Don't forget he hasn't played competitve football since the 2005 season at Hargrove where he was one of many RBs who shared carries. I believe there was at least one other back who got significantly more carries than he did as well as 3 or 4 other backs with as many carries as him.  He hasn't been the feature back since his senior year in HS in 2004.  So by the start of the 2007 season he will have not played in 2 years and will not have been a full time player for 3 years.  I assume there will be some rust to work off getting into game shape.  He may or may not be a factor in his first season.

  7. First I am not a dark sider.  I will wait to see how the season plays out.  I feel our biggest problem right now is inexperience.  2 freshman guards and 3 transfers who don't have a lot of playing time yet.  All that adds up to a ton of turnovers which is hurting us right now.  I'll play the wait and see game.

As far as the list of candidates, I would prefer a head coach from a midmajor or major school.  3 of your picks are long time assistants but not head coaches.  I would hope that we are in a position now where we can go after experienced head coaches instead of taking chances on assistants.

Kirk Speraw is an interesting option.  I wonder why he has been at UCF so long instead of taking the jump to a higher profile job?  He seems to have done a lot with their program.

  8. Are we not doing well recruiting wise?  It seems like our class is shaping up to be a stellar nonBCS type of class.  We have lots of 2 stars and a few 3 stars while 95% of the BCS teams have quite a few 3 stars and 4 stars.  Seems like we are still a cut below the BCS world.  Any chance we catch up soon?  A few years ago we led all Big East teams in recruiting and we are competitive right now, but if the rest of the conference is beefing up recruiting wise we could get left behind.

  9. I voted 3K.  We probably had quite a few people who went last year because it was our first bowl ever.  Couple that with the fact that Charlotte seems to be a better destination than Birmingham.  Also it is Christmas Weekend.  I know quite a few alums who went last year but are not going this year.  I hope I'm wrong but I am having a hard time believing we will even come close to last years draw.

  11. Pride...Hell they are playing for 750,000 bowl payout... They are playing for me to go to Birmingham bowl... Pride--they should have that everytime they put the uniform on... They are playing for every member of the BULL NATION!

    ::)

I don't recognize any bowl games outside of the BCS bowls.  all others are just money-makers for bigtime corporations.  especiall considering how many 1-A teams get to go to postseason, the big 4 are the only ones that matter

I'm sure the kids on the team recognized the Bowl game last year.  I'm sure they had a great time, and I'm sure our fans had a great time.  I'm also sure the coaches appreciated the extra practice time making a bowl gives a team.
