  1. McCullum will likely be back because we probably will win 3 or 4 more games this year.

Unfortunately a coach in his last year of his contract can't recruit worth a **** because his recruits don't know if he'll be around to coach them.  McCullum hasn't been able to recruit anyways so it may not hurt us too much but the odds are he will have a hard time signing anyone worth a darn as evidenced in the early signing period.  Jones took a gamble on us.  We'll see how it works out.

By the way, don't expect too much out of the late signing period.

  2. In my opinion a new coach needs to bring in at least 2,000 extra paying tickets per game.

    2,000 * 30 per game * 15 games = $900,000 per year.

That will cover the increased cost of the new head coach and a higher pay for his assistants.

Can we get a great coach for $750,000 to $1,000,000 per year with a decent paid staff?  Not sure about great but definately a good one.

The biggest problem may be that the State will only approve a certain base salary level.  I don't think we have the booster power to make up the difference to get to a high guaranteed level.

  3. Shoop - if you think I was a Seth supporter you've got the wrong guy.  He lost control of his program here and I was ready for a change 2 years before he left.  As a side note, I've been a big supporter of McCullum until this year and this is the year that I've finally seen enough of it.

Daly - Why is Seth winning in the ACC and couldn't in CUSA?  I have no idea but he's having one hell of a season and deserves credit for it.  Seth's run may or may not last but he's had an unbelieveable 6 days of college basketball.  Program changing days if VaTech can take advantage of it.  Meanwhile, we are having yet another embarassing season.

The point of the initial post is I simply can't believe that I'd ever say Seth is doing good job and McCullum is doing a bad job.  I thought both would be the other way around.

  4. I don't think it's the "program".

Seth was in CUSA.  He attracted CUSA level players.  In the ACC he's getting ACC level players.

McCullum is in the Big East and until recently was attracting SunBelt level players.  Now he's attracting some CUSA level players and a few Big East level players.

McCullum has been plagued by injuries but at the end of the day his poor recruiting is killing him.  No depth to speak of.

  5. Never thought I'd say that.

Seth hands #5 Duke and #1 UNC losses in less than a 1 week period.

We get drilled by 26 against a depleted Louisville team who is on a down year.

VaTech scored 94 today.  We played two ranked teams and scored a total of 98 points for the two games.

This basketball season can't get over fast enough!

With that said, see you there on Sunday.  We should all still be supporting our team.

  6. Comprehension has always been a problem with UCFers.....the point is their attitude is holier than thou and they don't want to recognize that anyone else in the world exists except for their "elite" program, however they come those who aren't "equal" to them to better their staff.  Well if they are so dame elite and too good for everyone then they shouldn't have to stoop to take from those beneath them.

It similar to settling for the ugly fat girl that hangs out with the hot one at a bar.

  7. Not for me.....one win won't change how poorly we've played this year.

It's going to take a lot more than than.

Hell, I don't mind losing regularly as long as I see improvement/progress.  I'm appalled by the way we have played against a very soft schedule.  If we were consistently improving I would have hope of a turnaround.
