To me, the Leavitt hire for some of the older fans is nostalgia. He hasn't been a HC anywhere else after USF's first run in order to prove he can duplicate his success. When people are miserable, psychologically we revert to the last time we felt happiness and want to replicate that, even when it's not possible or reasonable (i.e. within an ex relationship). Although we know we can't or shouldn't go back to that former person for whatever reason, we romanticize that time and want it back. Leavitt is 12 years older than at the time of the end of his HC career at USF. Not saying he's old and brittle, I'm sure he still has some fire in him, but there's a reason most people tend to retire around his age. Some don't, of course. Some can do it until the day they die in their 80s. However, like I said, he never replicated again (not for a lack of desire to do so). We don't know if a 66 year old Jim is the same as a 50 year old Jim and if it would be the same. Would I be against that hire? No. Would I be for it if we could hire Deion instead? No. But as a last resort option, go for it!

Its not that at all.  He was wronged in an epic fashion and now there have been 3 chances to make it right.  His defenses are still performing, he is not out of the game, but this is it for him.     I don't think Deion is the answer, but it will be interesting.  USF is cursed.

"Guys remember back in 2022 when we thought we actually had a chance to hire Deion Sanders as our HC? lol we got plaaaaaayed."

    "FireJameyChadwell.com"

"I hear we might hire Tim Tebow as our next HC"

"BRING BACK LEAVITT! He's the only one who can return us to greatness!!"
-- "Dude, he's 70 years old, let him enjoy his pudding and his stories."

"@deioniscoming: My source tells me deion is still coming, a lot of concessions by both sides but he's not in a hurry to get the deal done, but definitely by 2028."

"JP Peterson @FanStreamJP: My source tells me deal is 99.99999999999% done, not signed yet but they're almost there."

Hahaha.  But seriously.  If Leavitt was hired instead of Scott, we would not have had attendance issues, we would have won more games, including against the mousketeers.  We would probably be back in a power conference.  If we would have hired leavitt instead of Strong, we would already be there.  If If If.

  3. There is only one coach that was successful here at the highest level of competition.  We became the relativists after that time just like every other mid-major turd of a program.  We are cursed.  It may be so bad we even have to give Judy back her money...

It's probably going to be Chadwell.

I feel bad for him already. Not only is he going to have the 'you're not CJL' crowd but also the 'you're not Deion' crowd from day one. The fact that most of his chatter has happened in the 'Deion Sanders' thread tells you everything you need to know. I sure as hell hope he brings in the best defensive coordinator and recruiter money can buy; otherwise, it's going to be a steep climb.

That tells you all you need to know about our AD.

Since this is a circus, I have random thoughts on the BTLS video that was posted earlier.

    • I tapped out about 10 or 15 minutes in
    • It was posted from a show on 11/28, so the information may be outdated.  There's been opposing gossip since.
    • It was clear that the staff wasn't really up on the USF situation claiming that we don't have a good QB or any good players on the roster for example, though they could cite certain things like Willie Taggart and Jim Leavitt.  It seems to me like we have one of our best offensive lines, a future star at QB and THE RB Battie.  Even with a supposed leader at WR sitting out, we were really moving the ball when we tried.  Maybe our TE and WR situation is better than we thought once we were not relying on one person.
    • My thinking is that Bubba is always trying to find an angle to boost his signal, so he was throwing shade at USF by saying the solution is to just give Deion whatever he wants.  That's because he wants Deion to come here and hopes to get a piece of that attention.  Heavily biased take.  Nothing wrong with that.  We all have our motivations.  😀
    • That being said, he does represent the kind of "casual fan" intrigue we would suddenly capture again in the TB area.
    • Bubba is also heavily versed in the wrestling world, so he wouldn't mind playing his part of a storyline even if he knew it was all a work.

I think this is it.  I think our new poster, and our seasoned one both got info from Bubba as he has a relationship with Deion from way back.  I haven't seen any posts from either since someone hinted it could be him.  Either way, other than the side show I still don't see how Deion is anything more than Coach Strong/Skip revisited.  We have a knack at picking up our target coach and them not being up to snuff.  And Tags needed a come to Jesus before he did anything notable. (which is easy to do in a **** conference)  You see how well he has done since...

    Team Leavitt.

  6. I have not been a season ticket holder since they fired him.  I borrowed some tickets for a year or so, then it was apparent that this ship has sailed and never looked back.  I've attended a game or less a year since.  Time frame was around Nov 2012.  I am not the only one, there are others.  The product stunk, even when we started winning games again, it was against mediocre competition and it was already tainted.  I'm not superstitious, but I do think we are cursed.

  7. Depends on my mood:  The Beatles, Metallica, Megadeth Anthrax, Slayer, Testament, Grateful Dead, rolling stones, the black crowes, Old Crow Medicine Show, The Punch Brothers,  The Milk Carton Kids, Coltrane, Dave Brubeck, okay I could go on and on.  I'm a music geek.
