From http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/tribune-review/sports/college/s_383308.html
Linebacker H.B. Blades will play Saturday against South Florida, although he will continue to wear a boot on his injured right foot when he is off the field for the next couple of weeks.
"It's a precautionary thing," he said Tuesday.
Blades said he strained ligaments in his foot during the first half of the Rutgers game.
"I'm not even sure what happened. I just kept playing. After the game, I could barely walk," he said. Blades made eight tackles last week against Cincinnati. "It hurts, I'm not gonna lie. I don't get a (cortisone) shot or anything like that, because I want to know when I'm injured. I'm a football player, so I'm going to play through it."

Oh, and here's a CNNSI "midseason prediction" type article where they do the same thing: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/football/ncaa/10/12/midseason.ball/index.html
Everyone's just handing Louisville the hardware. Three columnists have the Big East champ in the Sugar Bowl (vs Alabama), one in the Orange.
-
Are these developers looking at the real numbers? FAU hasn't been selling a whole bunch of tickets to their games, so how is that going change anytime soon with them playing in the SunBelt?
Yeah, really. The news article says that "by year 10, the group estimates the stadium will bring in $14.2 million-a-year from tickets, concessions, advertising and merchandise."
To put that into perspective, UCF's revenue projection for the 2015-16 fiscal year is $7.3 million. And they actually have fans.

I don't have a complaint with anything that was said about USF. I just don't see why everyone is handing the title to Louisville.
The Bulls may not be a proven road team. But considering what happened to the Cards in Tampa, as well as their narrow win against a bad Kentucky team, Louisville sure as hell isn't either.
In fact, if I had to make an objective pick, I'd put West Virginia in the BCS game right now.

Wannstedt impressively has found the hot seat just six games into his storied return to his alma mater. Even Renee Zellweger's honeymoon lasted longer than that.
Hiring Wannstedt was hailed as a layup for Pitt, but it's looking like a brick.
The Big East was weaker than a Roy Jones jab.
Looks like Jemele's been getting comedy tips from Mike Bianchi.

USF needs to prove that it can beat a comparable/lesser opponent on the road.
So far, other than the Louisville game, the Bulls have only beaten inferior competition at home, and lost to superior competition on the road. Taking care of business in Pittsburgh will go a long way towards making people think the team is a legit title contender.

Refresh rate might be too low. Usually those aren't made for 26+ frames per sec.
I figured that. But people use NetMeeting to play games, so maybe the frame rate will be decent.

I can't believe there isn't a thread about this yet...
In their Tuesday Question, the CFBNews columnists predicted who would play in each of the four BCS bowls. Of course, one of these teams is the Big East champ.
EVERYONE picked Louisville to represent the Big East. USF got little mention. WVU got none, except as a speedbump on the UofL schedule.
Here are the relevant comments:
Richard Cirminiello: "Louisville will not lose again in the regular season, however, they’ll play in the Gator Bowl unless South Florida loses at least two of its final six games. The Bulls are a legit team, but winning pressure games in the Northeast in November will be a daunting challenge for the fledgling member of the Big East."
Matt Zemek: "Louisville still figures to be in the Orange Bowl because... well, besides beating West Virginia this Saturday, it's simply hard to think South Florida can stay atop the Big East. This ain't no Bull? We'll just have to find out and see if USF's 31-point win over Louisville was more of a Cardinal meltdown than a running of the Bulls all over Bobby Petrino's team. Until USF solidifies and backs up that win, Louisville is still the percentage pick to come out of the Big East."
Mark Risley: "Louisville has proved that it’s beatable, but it’s so difficult to put the USF loss into black & white. The Cardinals just destroyed a very good Tar Heels squad, and with its new “focusâ€Â, it’s hard to imagine UL losing again. Given that trend combined with USF’s task of severing three heads of the four-headed road monster (trips to Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse, and UConn) makes you think that Louisville still has a slight edge."
OK, so the pundits aren't sold yet on USF as a Big East title contender. That's fair, but why is everyone just handing the conference to Louisville? West Virginia is a capable team, as is UConn, and the Cards have to go both places.
BTW, all five columnists placed the Big East champ in the Orange Bowl, vs the ACC champ (Va Tech or Miami).

I had a low-tech idea about how to do this:
1. Find one person who can access ESPN360.
2. Have that person download and install the ESPN360 app.
3. Use a app-sharing program like MS NetMeeting to share the image with other users.
AFAIK you can share any program via NetMeeting. Any reason this wouldn't work?

OK so riddle me this.... if we beat both WVU and UL, and then end up losing to some other team like UConn, would UL still be chosen over us?
The tiebreaker rules can be found at http://bigeast.collegesports.com/sports/m-footbl/bige-m-footbl-body.html
Short version:
If USF is tied with ONLY Louisville, USF goes. Head-to-head is the #1 tiebreaker.
If USF is tied with Louisville and one other team, the bid goes to (a) the team that swept the other two in the tie, or ( the highest-ranked team of the three.
If USF is tied with Louisville and two other teams, they make a mini-conference out of the four teams. If one of them went 3-0 in the group, that team goes. If two teams went 2-1 in the group, the winner of the game between those teams gets the BCS invitation.

I am so sick of hearing about FAU's Fantasy Dome. These committee meetings have been going for at least five years now, with no progress made. Nobody wants it, nobody wants to pay for it, but FAU keeps having meetings and calling press conferences about this dome that is never going to exist.
-
I can recreate it at a larger size. What size do you want it?

Hey Gary....is that your photoshop of Wanny?
Yes. It's in the Image Gallery.

You know, with all the wacky university courses you hear about in the media from time to time, I bet you could pass off TheBullsPen.com as a three-credit course. You just have to name it cleverly enough:

This was in the "news and rumors" section on CNNSI:
Pittsburgh coach Dave Wannstedt said freshman running back Conredge Collins is expected to see more playing time this week.
-- Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Going into last week's game, Pitt had three running backs listed as injured: Ray Kirkley, LaRod Stephens, and Rashod Jennings (also a freshman). Jennings ran for 103 yards vs Cincinnati despite a sore shoulder.

I remember when we had a post a while back asking about everyone's major and graduation year....I didn't remember seeing so many fashion design majors on that list.
None of us majored in Sports Coaching, Marketing, Business Administration, or Building Design either. But it's not like we don't have opinions about any of those subjects when they come up relative to USF sports.
-
The Pitt-Cincy game must have pushed the line to them ....
That, and the Louisville game has faded a bit from short term memory. If the UofL win had just happened this past weekend, USF would be favored by at least five points over Pitt.
-
Sheriff, USF controls its own destiny NOW. The Bulls are in the driver's seat to win the conference and the big bowl game invitation NOW. The WVU-UL result only matters if USF slips up and loses a game at some point. We don't need one team or the other to win.
-
Gary, your wanted posted is frieking hilarious. Kudos on the superb photoshop job. Have you posted that on the Pitt board yet?
Nah, I figure one of them will see it here. I'm hoping it catches on with the non-Koolaid-impaired segment of their fan base, the (at present) minority that realizes that the guy is clueless and never should have been hired.
-
#18. Matt Cavanaugh. The Dave Wannstedt of offensive coordinators. His offensive strategy is slightly less conservative than Strom Thurmond, and almost as old. Baltimore Ravens fans threw a party when he left town.
-
Since USF has only been around since the mid-1950s, I doubt you'll find too many old geezers in its fan base.
-
#21. It's impossible to stay on a conditioning program anywhere in Pittsburgh, due to the city's pathological need to put french fries on EVERYTHING. I went to an Italian restaurant and they were in my salad.
-
#22 - since we just had a stadium thread - boo on Pitt for abandoning an on-campus stadium to play in an NFL stadium. Don't they know it's supposed to be the other way around?
-
#23 - since we just had a uniform thread - boo on Pitt for getting rid of the "Pitt script" and the Marino-era blue and gold uniforms. Those were some of the best, and most unique, in college sports.
Another on-campus stadium thread: FAU

That makes even less sense. The Marlins stadium proposal just struck out at the state level. A retractable roof makes it even more expensive. Boca Raton isn't the optimum location for an MLB franchise (though maybe they're willing to take whatever they can get).
