It’s also where you’ll find the Football Bowl Subdivision’s best-kept secret.

The University of South Florida Bulls — shhhhhh! — have a team well worth watching. It probably sounds ridiculous to mention USF as a legitimate national-title contender, but you know what? The Bulls could be favored to win 11 of their 12 regular-season games.

USF could well be the thinking man’s surprise team for 2016. Already, Ralph D. Russo, lead college football writer for The Associated Press, has projected USF over Houston in the American Athletic Conference’s championship game.

This sums all of it up. Iowa State's writer is tweeting/reporting that schools are physically making their pitch to the Big 12 today. He has this information coming directly from the president of the university. JK's talking about which WWE wrestlers should be in the Olympics.

Yeah, seems like "it's my job" only applies when he's trashing the school.

Even in his article Fennelly says it may have been a draft.

It was a draft that USF gave out as a response to a FOI request. Greg, as well as someone at USF, told me that. Greg's argument is that they should not have given it out like that. My position is that JK is a big Richard for abusing the trust even if he is not officially bound to show any. If he was covering any decent sized school he would be cut off from access.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they don't care, because as much as we read into it; the media has absolutely no say in what happens. University presidents and Athletic Directors know who they are dealing with in these expansion talks, they aren't reading Twitter or caring about typos.

Good points and I agree. But... Some secretary or possibly an intern typed the draft more than likely. They probably feel like ****. Maybe even worrying about his or her job. It sucks to have a bunch of men on twitter ganging up to use you as fodder for their sagging egos.

There has to be some agreement amongst all of the USF writers or something because Twitter is full of Fennely bash articles about it, Joey retweeting, Auman finding more typos in other publications and many of the other guys joining in. They have to all have said "we are gonna laugh it off amongst ourselves and make a bit about it," right?

I just feel like I'm taking crazy pills. This was an FOIA request sent by the Times, in which they were required to send ALL publications including drafts, they received a draft, TWEETED it for the world to see and now are making fun of it as if it was the finished product? Like what the ****?! It was a draft! THAT YOU FORCED A REQUEST ON! The real one with graphics doesn't have any typos at all!!!  :furious3:

Greg's being his usual dickish self acting like he's just reporting facts when he's being disingenuous in bringing the media guide into it like it's a  piece of literature. I bet I can find a typo in almost every media guide in the country. Some of the other guys are friends with McMurphy from back when he got fired for unethical behavior. It really showed up when they all came to his defense when he picked the fight with Levitt. Even Duemig is one of his protectors.

  6. What pisses me off is that the misspelling was obviously a simple typo not something like mixing up they're/there/their. I do that all day long and my degree is in literature. And I write code where it really does matter. To see these big richards giggling back and forth like they just scooped the NY Times at the expense of probably a secretary who may lose her or his job makes me sick. I bet I can dig through McMurphy's stuff and find somewhere he follows an intransitive verb with a noun.
