  1. Gerry Bohanon Jr would be a great addition to our QB room for the next 2 seasons.  He has a strong arm, good mobility and was also a good leader.  BU decide to go with the Shapen and they wanted to give him time to find another program.  He would allow Timmy more time to develop.  Timmy has more raw talent, but Bohanon would give us a great chance to win more ball games this season.

don't remember if it was you so not attacking anyone personally, can't say the guys are missing open jumpers and blame it on the coach. He's doing plenty wrong, obviously. Don't know if it is just an old school mentality, like Charlie Strong, or lack of talent. And I know we can blame the coaches for lack of recruiting but believe it has been said that the head coaching job at USF may be the toughest job in the country. We haven't produced a whole lot of NBA players here. I have no answers but know I don't want to watch in person next year.

No I did say that they missed open shots which is on the players.  I should have been more clear as it always seemed our shots always seemed to be rushed, off balance, or with the shot clock winding down.  So getting good open shots didn't happen very often, when they did come up the players missed those.

  3. We struggled all year to generate consistent offense. Our shooting percentage shows that. Shouldn't the coaching staff be responsible to create opportunities for the players to get open shots.  Every game was a struggle to generate consistent offense, whether that open looks, layups, or getting to the free throw line.

Most of our possessions always end with some type of rushed shot near the end of the shot clock.

Players do need to make shots, but coaches don't get a pass on poor performance for the team.

    The coaches are getting paid!

  4. It still comes down to coaching. We do not identify quick enough what the other team is doing offensively or defensively.  Teams run zones against us and we can't hit open jumpers consistently. We struggle to identify defensive mismatches when teams run man to man. We struggle against pressure.  As I stated before we do play hard on defense, however it isn't a style that creates fast break opportunities.

In my opinion that if we just watched our same players play in a pick up game against one another, where they are free to just play we would probably be shocked at what we saw. It takes a great amount of talent to play D1 and these guys know how to dribble, shoot, and pass.

The coaches fail to instill confidence and teach situation awareness of what teams are running. We don't have any superstar or alpha players that can take over a game or carry the team.  We also lack having those "floor general" type players or the coach on the court to help identify whats happening at game speed. Our players constantly try to run the same offensive concept into a brick wall every possession. With that being said our coaches have recruited kids who are not suited for their style of play.

  5. CBG is a nice guy and says the right things.  I think his defensive philosophy and offensive philosophy is to always try and play at pace to keep it close.  Our defense at times is good enough to win, but we dont play a style of defense that generates any offense. However, offensively there have not been many bright spots over the last 4 years.  These kids know how to shoot a basketball or they wouldn't have made it this far.  This coaching staff doesn't know how to coach these players up, nor get them to be able to play with confidence consistently within the Princeton style of offense that Gregory wants to run.   This lack of confidence is why we struggle consistently with scoring.  There are so many players at the Div 1 level and the fact that we can't find guards who can create space and get their shot, or post players that have decent footwork around the rim. Every facet of our offense struggles........yet most times I would say the players need to play, in this situation coaches need to coach

  6. This is a huge problem. The roster is a dumpster fire, the coaching staff is unoriginal, you can't burn this program anymore than it already is.

Our coaching staff can not recruit, develop, or coach/make adjustments. I really wanted CBG to succeed but enough is enough. Its hard enough to get decent players to come here at this point in time. The product on the court is getting to be a hard sell for players. There is no buyin, there is no alpha on this roster, and that is direct reflection of this staff.  No one will buy into this program....

Coaches need to be held accountable.  Unless again there is a bigger story that will break in a few days that we are unaware of.

  7. Chaplin is athletic and thats about it.  He plays with high energy, but there is no real feel or role to his game.  If he was a lock down defender and we could totally neutralize our opponents best offensive player that would be valuable.  However, the lack of consistency on offense and defense does make him a liability and he would not start for most programs.  I feel Gregory is loyal to him because the guy probably works his tail off in practice.  It speaks volume of where are talent truly is on this roster ATM.

  8. The thing is this board would absolutely melt down.  Before Baylor found some consistent success playing football they had 14 straight losing seasons...We are melting down after 2. Baylor has been playing football since 1903, thats 118 years and has been to 26 Bowl games.  We have been to 10 bowl games in our 25 year existence.  Men's Basketball Scott Drew was terrible his first 4 years back in 2003.  Finished 11th or 12th and never won over 10 games until he got stuff situated.  Every program has had their years of being in the sun, they have also had long periods of simply not being relevant.  Florida State started playing football in 1954.  Until Bobby Bowden got there in 1976 they only had 9 winning seasons.  Bowden had a few down years but had 33 winning seasons in a row. Imagine now being an FSU fan how do you think they are feeling about their program now after 4 straight losing seasons and didn't miss a bowl game between 1982 - 2017.  Our best years are in front of us.

  9. Offensively Murphy needs to be looking often for his shot.  Boggs and Greene need to be the 3 shooters.  McCreary and Chaplin are x factors that need to be looking to stress the defense around the paint by looking for cutting/slashing opportunities or offensive rebounds.  Tchewa needs to play bigger and more under control and use better footwork and position he could be a beast.  Josh Carlton is a tad smaller and played so much bigger last night.   I am not sure what the issue with Walker and Matos is with their playing time.  However,  Moss, Hines, Patrick and Smith need to really just be role players and not try to do too much.  Too many times there is such a drastic drop off in positive plays when these guys are on the floor.

  10. I know that culturally the administration wants CBG to succeed.  He absolutely cares about his players and wants them to be successful in life and he may in fact be a better life coach than a basketball coach.  What happened last year was unprecedented, and it is almost impossible to blend that many new faces in one season.  So it almost makes sense to give him an extension as we do not have a track record of winning basketball in the last 32 years so I am not sure there is a coach out there that is going to just flip a switch and make us into one of the better teams in the conference. I do not know where the push came to incorporate a Princeton style of offense.  As this style of basketball really relies on all 5 players being able to handle the basketball, shoot and pass.  It also requires considerable amount of teaching and every player to understand not only their role, but each others as well.  This requires high basketball IQ and while we have a deeper bench of players with lots of interchangeable pieces which in theory is what you want with this offense, but it takes time to master.  This is why we do not see the consistency on the offensive side of the ball, we struggle with shot selection, we struggle with spacing the floor and making passes that lead to scoring opportunities, and when we do we rush shot or look out of control.   Maybe Gregory should not have been extended, but I think with the cultural shift of the athletic department is to give everyone everything possible to be successful.  If this doesn't work out we can say that we gave ample time and resources for there to be results on the court.  In the big picture have been mediocre to bad in basketball for a long time.  The teams that we did have that had aspirations of good seasons always under performed, a few extra seasons for CBG doesn't hurt our reputation.  **** Vitale has been saying since the late 90s this is the hardest coaching job in America.

  11. Most of you could not see a tree if you were standing in the middle of the forest.  We just finished our 25th season of college football.  There is more going on now about our athletic department than any time that I can ever remember.  Now is the time to buy-in.  Things happen as they are meant to, and if your don't think CJS deserved an extension, you are entitled to that opinion.  However, like it has been stated we do not know what boxes are being checked behind closed doors.  A revolving door of coaches shows instability and is never going to make us look attractive to future coaches, players, and conferences.  We are taking the steps to reboot, either you want to see it or you don't?  To be frank your opinions really don't mean a thing.  Just using football as the measuring stick, we have never won a conference title, we have been to 10 bowl games 5 with Leavitt, 1 with Holtz, 2 for Taggert (he lost the 1 he coached, Weist won his other on year he left for Oregon.) and 2 for Strong.  Only 2 of these coaches had a winning career Leavitt .629 and Strong .568. Leavitt had the longest Tenure of 13 seasons, since then its been 3 to 4 years.  You wonder why our program has not grown or why it has regressed? I Bullieve in the vision of South Florida making commitments to hopefully brings us to new heights.  Tearing down the program constantly just keeps us in mediocrity.  Everyone wants to make fun at Best is the Standard.  At least CJS, is the first coach to actually lay it out there on what our actual standard and vision is.  It is fair to say that most of us want regular bowl games, winning seasons, potentially a better conference, and better game day experience.  Those things are in front of us, stop looking backwards as there was a lot of wishful thinking and unfulfilled dreams.

  12. There is no path to guaranteed success! Period!  We might as well keep some continuity and see how this season plays out.  Those of you that are quick to take a dump on Gregory, how quickly you must forget or simply just don't know.  Here is a list of our coaches in the last 32 Seasons and we have not had a lot of sustained success.  You are already starting to see differences in player rotations and the players are still trying to figure it out in game situations.  Is it frustrating that out of 329 college Division I programs we can't ever seem to find pure shooters? Absolutely!  We have all seen highlight tape of these guys from high school or other programs, and it has not all translated onto the court yet.  Greggory may not be the most offensive minded coach, but at the end of the day its basketball, and our players need to execute and need to compete.  You see it on the defensive side of the ball, it's on the offensive side where they lack continuity and confidence.  We really have not had any really truly great shooters since Dobras, Sharp, Atkins, Jackson, Kohn, D. Jones. Those are some of the best shooters that come to mind immediately.   Caleb Murphy needs to become an alpha and start taking over offensively he is by far at times the best player on the court and his pull jumper he can get almost at will.  Firing Gregory doesn't solve anything just leaves us with the same problem that there hasn't been a solution for a very long time.  Of the limited success that we have had, it still came down to the players.  Paschal had a core very high IQ players, Greenberg had some of the best overall talent we have ever had, however under performed,  Stan Heath got us further with less than any coach I can remember, and OA/Bartow was a dumpster fire.

  13. There is nothing wrong with having multiple uniforms. The salute to service uniforms were awesome, are there a few combinations that we could do without sure!  The problem is you can dress a turd up but at the end of the day its still a turd it has nothing to do with the uniforms.
