  1. It's kind of bizarre that USF fans are trashing our bowls and championships when they haven't been to a bowl in years and have never won a championship. Yeah we've had some luck along the way, but you have to be good enough to take advantage of those breaks. Luck is the intersection of preparation and opportunity. I bet almost every team that's ever won a championship has had a couple lucky breaks along the way.
  2. Any links or sources to prove this? Sounds like a lot of conjecture... The source is my own observations. All of the "elite eight" matchups had huge shifts Sunday Morning and the NCAA posted a statement that lots of people appeared to be running illegal scripts through email voting and all the emailed votes would be thrown out. Regarding point #1, I was keeping an eye on the votes throughout the week. In our matchup with UTPA we had about 75% of the vote throughout the week and it didn't really change much. Then Sunday morning we suddenly dropped to about 22% of the vote. Regarding point #2, as I said I was keeping an eye on the votes throughout the week and BYU's lead over NDSU stayed between 52%-54% for most of the week. Then Sunday morning BYU's lead jumped up to about 75% of the vote in their matchup. On Sunday morning the UCF Nation facebook page (has about 100k subscribers) started posting that we had fallen behind and asked people to vote. Our vote percentage versus UTPA started to rise and it looked like we would overtake them with time to spare, but then our rise started to stall. I checked out the BYU message board and they had about a dozen threads about shifting over and focusing on voting for UTPA so that UCF would lose and they would have an easier opponent this week. Yep, a couple fans running vote bots (just like fans of every other school still in the competition) is certainly indicative of the culture of an entire university. Just like a USF recruit being arrested must mean that USF has a thug culture, right?
  3. We lost for two reasons: 1) Some UCF fans were running an illegal script which had us way ahead of UTPA for most of the week. Since we appeared to be safely in the lead, nobody was casting legitimate votes. Then when the illegal votes were thrown out, we were suddenly losing to UTPA in the final day of that round of voting. 2) BYU had the opposite happen. They appeared to be in a tight race with NDSU for most of the week, but it turned out most of NDSU's votes were illegal, so the morning of the final day of voting BYU jumped up to a 50% lead on NDSU. When this happened, they turned to voting for UTPA in order to knock UCF out of the contest. I'm sure most of you don't really care, but since there was a thread on this topic I thought I would share what happened. BYU is taking this thing really seriously so they're probably going win by a large margin.
  4. Maybe the rivalry trophy can be a set of tires, one for each school. The winning team gets to slash the other team's tire each year. You can tell who is leading the series by how many holes are in each tire.
  5. Just offering some friendly advice. I created an account, posted on your main open board, and promptly had my post removed and sent off to an obscure thread that few will read. When I asked why, I got the response that they don't want us posting on that open board. It doesn't make sense to have an open board that isn't really open. Is Kanigit supposed to be an insult?
  6. Probably should have moved the whole thread here when it first popped up .... the game is 3 freaking weeks away .... and all the replies weren't in line with the op on the thread because the op was talking to and about Bulls fans: Despite the outcome of the UCF game remember to be classy and encourage your fellow Bulls to be as well. How is this inline with the op on the thread?: If USF can't sell out the allotment for a game 90 minutes from your campus this year & in the future it will just make your fanbase look bad. All those #s count for a Program's Future & Perception. And I'll repeat: The Main Board is by, about and for Bulls fans. There is plenty of other places for interaction .... I think that's what the majority of our fans on there want. I can understand wanting to have a place to just discuss amongst USF fans, but by making that an open board you're inviting other fans to post there. If you don't want anyone else posting on that board then you should consider making it private.
  7. Can anyone explain to me why this post was moved here? A USF fan started a thread encouraging other Bulls to be civil toward UCF fans when we play in a couple weeks. I posted this tip that if they want to avoid confrontations then it would be best to avoid the Memory Mall area where most of the UCF students tailgate. Nothing about my post is trolling, I was polite and informative, yet my post got removed from the thread. If I made the exact same post but changed my name to MechaBull and didn't use 1st person pronouns for UCF then it would have been accepted. Are USF fans really that thin skinned that you can't handle any posts by non USF fans?
  8. The rowdiest UCF fans are going to be at Memory Mall, which is the greenspace right in front of our basketball arena. However there is tailgating all over UCF's campus on gameday so if you just don't go to where all the students are hanging out you should be fine and still have a good time. Every fanbase has it's knumbskulls, especially young programs like yours and ours. When I went to down to Tampa the last time we played there I got plenty of heckling from USF fans. It didn't bother me since I didn't have kids yet, but don't pretend like your fanbase is full of angels. Any time you get thousands of drunk college kids together there is going to be some foul language.
  9. I think the same. That's funny. I see a time in the very near future when UCF is still struggling with Houston and USF is in one of the big conferences. The opposite is more likely at this point In your dreams. You are not taking into consideration the fact that USF had years to develop relationships with WVU, Louisville, Pitt, Syracuse and Rutgers. That is far, far, more important than how many football wins you have in a particular year. I'm sure Judy won over a lot of friends among the other Big East Presidents when she sided with the BB schools to add Villanova football over UCF.
  10. I have no idea how many tailgaters were at the game since I don't live in Orlando anymore, but we used to have people tailgating all over campus. The students concentrate in Memory Mall, which is the large greenspace in front of the CFE Arena. However, there are clusters of tailgaters in many other places around campus. The USF fans saying all UCF tailgaters are all restricted to the Memory Mall have clearly never walked across our campus on gameday
  11. lol, you've been run off from every other board so you come to the USF board to rant about UCF? Get over it dude, you are embarrassing yourself. Regardless of whether or not the call was right on the penalty, the fact remains that Houston had a 1st and goal inside the UCF 10 yard line with 30 seconds to go and 2 timeouts, and you failed to score on 4 attempts. You can't blame the refs or the UCF fans for that. FWIW I don't think the DB was trying to hurt Perriman. He was in a lose-lose situation where he either had to let Perriman come down with the ball, or commit a penalty to stop the play. After the game the refs clarified that the penalty was for launching, not targeting, since the DB made no attempt at the ball or to wrap up and tackle, he just slammed into a defenseless WR. Last year that might have just been a hard hit, but the NCAA is trying to stop that kind of play since it can cause a serious injury, as it did on Saturday. Finally, yes the UCF fan that threw a drink at your player was wrong and I heard he was kicked out of the stadium. However, your team was on the sideline laughing and antagonizing UCF fans while one of our players was being carried to the hospital on a stretcher. Your starting QB represents your school far more than some random fan.
