I'm hoping hiring Strong will put some butts in seats; he's a pretty big name so it may inject some more interest amongst the fanbase. It might even generate some interest amongst the casual Tampa sports fans since he was a big deal at Florida.

I had season tickets during the Jim Leavitt era and beginning of Skippy era.   I did not renew my season tickets after skippy killed the program, however I did watch every game when it's available for viewing.  Also, I live in Palm Beach County and not Tampa, however I will be a season ticket holder again next year with the hiring of Strong.  I was never that big on Taggart based on that offense he ran the first 2 years with endless shifting.

I never disputed that fact. I said show me someone besides Willie that called plays on the offensive side.. You do realize Willie was making the play calls during the game right? That's what play calling is.

Joe Kinnan and others others developed the plays that Taggart called that were written down for him. I do agree that Taggart kept the power run plays in the new spread he was Forced to run by Harlan after the Maryland Game.  Look all I am trying to say is that it's not a big deal he is leaving.  His recorded is something like 25-24, not sure that's accurate but it's close      He does not care about USF, he has been butt hurt ever since Harlan put him on notice after Maryland game

No way, I did not enjoy that offense. I don't think anyone can genuinely said they did. I'm giving him credit to listening to wisdom and changing his philosophy and adapting it. I was calling you out for saying he got serious help on play calling. As far as I'm aware he is the only coach to call plays on the offensive side, but correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't get why you were trying to label his time here as a failure, when it was clearly a success. Yep, there were some low moments, sure. But he got hired by Oregon as a result of his success!! I'm starting to get excited to see what coach we can get next.

Btw, Lane is not coming here.

Joe Kinnan.  Senior offensive Consultant . Formerly Manatee HS Coach. He is on USF staff hired by slick Willie to provide offensive consulting.   This is a fact, google it

During CWT tenure.... we went 2-10, 4-8, 8-5, then 10-2. That's enough for me.

Also his Oregon contract is for 5 years, not 3. However, if you want to make that up as fact too, go right ahead. Just don't present it as fact and expect to be taken seriously.

I got the contract term from Pete Thamel who is works with SI.  His Twitter is @SIPeteThamel.

Im just a USF grad and fan, I let the experts provide me with the Contract info.  Tell me seriously did you like that pathetic power run Stanford offense with endless shifting the first 2 years??  Do you think he changed his ways by himself? No he was forced to change and listen to the high school coach he brought in.  lol

What happened when he had his talent in position?

What happened when his players were in place was that he was still trying to run the power run Stanford offense with endless shifting. Don't you remember that pathetic offensive. After he got embarrassed at Maryland, Harlan told him the offense  has to change.   Then poof other staff members implemented the spread and here we are.    A local high school coach. Lol saved USF

  6. During slick Willie tenture we lost at home to:

    FAU, McNeese State, UCF

    lost on road to:

    UCF and Western Kentucky

even lazy skip would not have lost to these schools

Go Bulls.   The team did not turn around until Taggart was on hot seat and cut Flowers loose and got major help with play calling.  Oregon is not sold oh him, 3 year contract at $3.2 million a year.  This is a wait and see Contract, Eugene Oregon does not have football talent, he will have to recruit Texas and California to be successful.  2 wins first year and he will wish he was in Tampa.     Now let's get Charlie or Lane.

  7. I would be very surprised if Oregon offers Willie the job, his resume does not warrant that job and also he does not have the connections yet to build a winning supporting cast of assistant coaches (Woodie...lol). However, if he is offered that high profile job he has to take it.

what irks me is Tony dung who lives in Tampa and says he supports our program is lobbying for the coach he helped bring here get the Oregon job.   We really need to distant ourselves from this kind of support.

jim Leavitt never let outside people affect this program.   We need to bring in an ex USF coach to lead this team if slick Willie leaves who understands defense.

last time someone raised a hand too me was in 7th grade and  i knocked  the kids front teeth out.Never had a problem again

leavitt won nothing at usf abnd leavitt stopped playing the orlando school

leavitt would never  hot someone that could hit back.he is  a classic bully

Relax smazza, we are on the same team I was just having a little fun with you.  But I do think the overall football program would be in better shape if that incident never happened and Leavitt was still here. I cannot forget we lost bad to FAU at home

he meant to hit the kid.it wasnt an accident so there is intent

if a school hires leavitt there is a giant risk.If he hits a kid again that school will pay dearly

I would like to Leavitt smack smazza.    We could have been in much better shape to be in a Power 5 conference if Leavitt was not fired, plus not sure Central Florida beats USF with Leavitt here

If CWT is to be believed, it ain't happening, now or after the season.

    Hopefully one of these happens:

    1. Woodie is hearing the noise and is looking to move on, he could get an offer from a smaller program for D- cord or from a larger program as a recruiter and linebackers coach

    2. The Athletic Director makes Taggart either demote or fire Woodie.

If neither one of these happen, I don't see Taggart getting rid of his Woodie

When I read someone post this it tells me you really never knew him.

CJL did great with mainly 2 star athletes and getting the most out of them.  He never had any money to pay the assistant coaches which is why we always had to replace coaches that got poached.   He had a pretty good coaching staff in place when he got fired.  Plus he knew how to use BJ to his full potential.  Skip tried to keep BJ in the pocket   CJL would definitely still be here if not for the slap heard around the world.  Where is the cry baby kid now and his dad, in Jail somewhere or on food stamps .

Plz explain what Judy did to kill the deal?  Im seriously curious bc I do not know the story.

BTW CJL may still be here if he would have just manned up and confessed and apologized. That is unless the big dollar alums just wanted him gone. The cover up was just unwise on many levels.

Big east TV contract was up, ESPN gave us a great new deal, Judy led the charge to turn down the TV deal and ask for more money, shortly after that ESPN talked the ACC to take in Pitt and Syracuse.   The Big East died that day.  Then ESPN stuck it to us with a 3 million dollar a year TV deal.    She led the charge to can CJL because he was not her yes man.  Yes he made a mistake but they could have done other things, reduce his salary suspend him for half the season.  The school  did end up losing a court battle with CJL over the termination, so I think they could have kept him if they wanted to.   Look at our BBT Judy led the charge to fire the coach just one season from being I think in  the NCCA tournament    HE was bringing in some good players that all left to major programs.  She is our main problem.
