Tampa, FL - Collin Sullivan led the Bulls (26-26, 8-15) to a series tying 2-0 win over the Wichita State Shockers (25-29, 8-15) on Friday night setting up the rubber game of the match to determine who advances in the 8 seed American Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament.
Sullivan ended the night with a fantastic line in a must win situation. Sullivan when asked about his clutch performance and impressive line: ""The off speed stuff, getting guys to roll over and hit things into the ground early in the count really helped me. Coming out there, we all knew what was on the line and we put everything we had into the game."
He went nine, striking out seven and walking three. The Shockers were shut out on two hits.
The Bulls scored two runs on six hits and two WSU errors. The Bulls runs were both plated in the fourth inning when the Bulls started the inning with back to back singles by Jordan Santos and Joe Genord. Chris Chatfield then hit into a double play, with Santos advancing to third. Julio Cortez would walk and steal second just before Austin Bodrato right field scoring Santos and Cortez.
The Bulls and the Shockers meet tomorrow for the finale and the ticket to the conference tournament. First pitch is Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the USF Baseball Stadium. The Bulls' expected starter is Alec Wisely.
