Things I'm sure about:
Mack running
Flowers running
Receivers catching and running
Athletic ability (best in USF's history)
Things I worry about:
Offensive line
Defensive ends
The Defense without Tom Allen
Flowers throwing over 20+ yards with accuracy
I'm fine with Q and the long ball. I worry more about the 3- 8 yard range.
Everything else I agree with.

IMO Won't play QB at USF. Maybe slot or he looked tough enough for safety. A Very tough & versatile athelete though. Hope he sticks as he has been really vocal about getting more Recruits to come to USF.
Needs to develop some arm strength to play QB. Also, the system would have to be tweaked to even more runs. However, no harm in CWT saying "Yeah, we will give you a shot at QB. "

So are we in the BIG12/13/14/15/16 yet?

Let us say we lose HOU, UCONN, and UC from the AAC. I hope Aresco gets in contact with the MWC and they start hashing out the merger.

I have an important prediction:
This thread has been around for 4 years and by my crude math we average about 200 (194) pages a year.
If this it wraps up in 30 days I don't see 1000 pages happening.
Not with that attitude.

Thanks fellas. However, I will admit I joined for completely selfish reasons. After a semester at USF I realized that college is expensive and there was an army guy who said they would pay for my college. SO I said effe it and the rest is history.
II know quite a bit of the penners have served at some point. And to you guys .......

I currently serve. Little over 13 years now. Just got back from my 5th tour of the Middle East.

Anywhere from 7-5 to 12-0. I did say I was jumping on the wagon with Cali though, so 12-0 it is.

We're going to win the AAC. Either finish the regular season at 13-1 or 14-1

Clearly a Texas fan wrote that and believes that the SEC and B10 would want Texas. Every conference Texas has been in has problems because of Texas and their attitude.
I thought that the SEC had a rule where they wouldn't invite anybody else where they already have a program. So no teams from TX, FL, SC, KY, and so on.
I have been here a minute, so I will try to find the link for that info

I see what you mean about the short passes and run game. However, I don't think that has anything to do with trust in QF's passing ability. I think a lot of people forget that CWT wants to run the ball. I don't think CWT has ever stated anything different, in fact he has always said he wants a power running team. When Mack averages 7 ypc, why would you try to over complicate it.
This scheme of running 70% of the time and quick, short throws, forces teams to stack the box. Which leads to all the big plays off of play action. I have heard the arguments that if they respected QF's arm it would open the run game up even more. Yes, however, the offense is designed to bring the defense in, then go over their head.
I don't think QF is instructed to go throw his progressions. CWT has even stated that he instructs him to go through the 1st read and if that's not there, look to run. I think as the season went on, you saw QF do less of that, and look for the pass play. Im sure you seen it where instead of taking off he would just scramble to keep to play alive and keep his eyes looking for a receiver. I honestly thought that was QF's biggest strength, that he knew when to pass it, and when to just take off and get the yards.
He does become inaccurate on the move though I agree. Also, I agree that if he gets moderately better in the passing game, we could be looking at 10 wins. Like everyone has pointed out before, there were times when he would just go completely cold and become wildly inaccurate.
In saying that though, even if QF becomes a great passer, I don't see CWT going away from the running game. Ever. It's just the offense he wants to run. It's just like Mike Leach will not go away from the pass, even when it is not working. CWT will stick with the run game, even if it is getting stuffed.

Did you see what Baylor did in their bowl game against NC? Basically played without a QB and ran all over them. I am sure they want to look into how they did that.

From SBNATION:
Five best two-year averages for Group of 5 teams (and BYU): No. 54 USF (57.4%), No. 57 UCF (55.3%), No. 61 Houston (51.3%), No. 65 Boise State (49.1%), No. 66 BYU (47.0%)

Could of used a DT. OL flips hurt too.
As far for size of the recruiting class, the team is so young that there isn't a lot of scholarships out there to give. Im sure CWT is looking towards Sping Ball when everyone starts to transfer, so he has to have a few to give out.

Good update. Even though Xavier Gaines looks better on paper, I think Oladokun is the starter in 3 years after Flowers plays 2, then Woulard plays 1 as a RS senior. That'll give him a solid 2 years. I wonder what's up with Gaines? His twitter has said USF is the move for awhile now, but nothing.
Rumor mill is, USF is waiting on grades before they offer.

Flowers has nearly every positive single season qb record in USF's short football history, but he should never start another game because we have the most potentially awesome qb ever.
You forgot he throws the football real pretty like.

OL will be the biggest concern. The run blocking was solid, but pass blocking was still suspect. Flowers running around made it seem better than it truly was.

And the even more important criteria, replaced by someone who has never played a down in college .... Again, I'm not saying that AW will NEVER replace a healthy QF as the starter, just that it's not happening on opening day next year or by the FSU game unless Wanky has a meltdown of epic proportions.
Triple B spitting FIRE.
I don't see any way with just practice and spring ball that AW overtakes QF unless, Q goes down with an injury. Barring that, Q will start week 1. Now, does Q hold the job all season? Now that's debatable ,and it will be up to Q to keep producing.

In response to their qb missing throws...
If our receivers could catch the balls that hit them in the chest, we would win.
BUT! just to put this to bed. We have NEVER won a game when my wife and I go to the alumni tailgate. We were hesitant this year, but we broke the Thursday night curse, so we thought...
Thanks. Way to put yourself before the team.

Im going with 7-9 wins. It's USF football. We will win some we are not supposed to, lose some we are supposed to win. Either way I will be back in the States and will make sure the family and I make to a few games.

Didn't see it at the game, just saw 2 receivers down. Will try to watch the game later (DVRd). What happened?
Blasted Rodney Adams for no reason. Ball wasn't going towards him and the ball was still in the air. Just lit him up out of nowhere. It was dirty.

From underdogdynasty.com
How did South Florida lose the game?
Just like there is not much reason Western Kentucky should have won this game because of their defense, USF doesn't have much of an excuse on offense for this loss. They scored 35 points, had two 100-yard rushers and had an all-around good game.
Defensively, however, well that's another story. The Hilltoppers held onto the ball for 31-and-a-half minutes and accumulated 612 yards of total offense while posting 45 points. Even though they picked off one of the best quarterbacks in the country twice, it was not enough for the Bulls defense to stand strong.
Things really started to go wrong for the Bulls in the third quarter with the 28-point explosion by the Hilltoppers. The Bulls showed some potential on defense, holding them to just 10 points in the first half, but as their second half showed, they still have a ways to go on defense.

Great insight. Can't really argue with any of it.
