  1. I have Sling TV and it works rather well. The main reason I subscribe is for USF sports. That requires the sports package for an extra $5 a month. Standard Sling TV only has ESPN included, not ESPNU, or ESPN2(I think). My total is around $27 a month after taxes. I received a free Kindle Fire TV stick for signing up for 3 months. Quality is exactly like watching cable television. There are times where it freezes for buffering or lips aren't completely synched, but these instances are rare. It has all the channels I'm interested in. Food, Travel, TNT, TBS, CNN, AMC and they recently added History and H2.

    I recommend it.

  2. I mentioned it a while back about Kinnan coming to USF. Don't foget that he was almost the first coach there.

He is an offensive genius and if anyone had any idea how valuable he could be to the program, they may have think twice about this one. You're going to get a guy at a great value and leave you with some good money to bring in a much better DC than Bres was.

As a head coach, you have to trust the OC and I think that CWT will have that trust in Joe and know that he can manage the game offensively and leave the overall sight of the game to Taggs.

I laugh at all the members on here that we excited about CWT coming here and two years in want him fired too!

Let's be honest, it's going to be very hard to attract a "hot" upcoming coach to this program having to compete against the three big ones here.

Joe and CWT can make the spread work here and we have the kids that can run it. Don't be surprised if you see Coach Weiner from Plant come along as well.

Joe didn't take the job last year because he felt Manatee had a great chance at winning another State Title and didn't expect Superintendent Mills to come after him personally.

Kinnan was covering up for his assistant having inappropriate contact with teen age girls.

I don't want him around the program.

If Kinnan was covering up what happened there, why wasn't he charged with anything? The other administrators were.....oh maybe he is good friends with the lead investigator.

Give me a break and grow up. State the facts that you actually know and don't talk about allegations.

I know what was in the police report. I was wrong in saying he covered things up. That was a poor choice of words. I should have said he looked the other way. And it is my personal belief he did.

When it comes down to it the school failed those girls.

Please present some evidence that Joe Kinnan was aware and covered up those things. Their was criminal proceedings, people were investigated, Kinnan was not involved. Why are you so certain he was?
I worked for the Manatee School District for years and know many of the people involved. Kinnan knew everything going on at that school. He was more interested in winning football games than the welfare of the children.

No one was convicted but 6 people lost their jobs over this.

If Kinnan was just interested in winning football games, why would he know everything going on at the school?

If it was involving one of his coaches, he knew what was going on. Do you honestly expect me to believe he didn't ask why his assistant coach was suspended for a game as stated in the police report?

He knew Rod had issues with the girls. He looked the other way.

  6. I see Cincinnati and BYU getting Big 12 invites in the next 12-24 months and then USF/UCF come along closer to the Big 12 GOR expiration date (2025). These two schools have some brand name recognition and have won national championships (UC in basketball, BYU in football) which is needed if the Big 12 expands with its current TV contract. USF/UCF are better adds as a pair to open up the Florida market but this does not make sense until the Big 12 TV contract expires and they can negotiate different terms based upon markets. The Longhorn network puts a wrench into things as this hold back the Big 12 from having its own Network which means the Florida market might be on hold until the Big 12 figure outs how to get out of this mess. The Big 10 and SEC got it right regarding their own networks and its paying big dividends for them. The only reason Maryland and Rutgers were added to the Big 10 was that it increased the Big 10 network value with these markets (cable subscribers). If the Big 12 adds a new market with its existing network situation it adds nothing so this needs to change before USF has a chance of being added to the Big 12. USF does not move the needle when it comes to brand but it does move the needle when it comes to market and potential. Hopefully USF will have some time to build up it brand (winning!!) and invest into an OCS so when the Big 12 is looking to go to 14 teams they select USF/UCF. USF needs some time to grow and build its athletic and academic brand as we are still a very young university. If USF does not turn around its football program soon then this discussion is mute and please turn off this message board as the past 3 years have been brutal!!

I don't see BYU joining. They won't play games on Sunday.

Football only invite and boom, not a problem.

It is if they get into a playoff game played on Sunday New Year's Day.

If BYU can't make that one concession, that will never happen, they deserve to be sitting on the outside looking in.

That one concession is the difference between standing up for what you believe in and selling out if you're BYU. Remember when they suspended their star player before the NCAA tournament and the fans were proud of it? Unlike Notre Dame, they actually live by the moral code they preach.

They suspended him for having premarital sex, and the fans cheered.

I would assume most colleges would have to suspend all their players. Isn't having lots of premarital sex half the point of going to college?
