  1. It was also the birth of what later became known as the War Flamingo

War Flamingo? Were those the inflatable birds I saw a bunch of kids on a short bus holding? Had absolutely nothing to do with USF, but everyone told them "way to go" anyway, just so nobody's feelings got hurt.

I forgot we had all those other traditions... Don't know why you are so against the only tradition we have maybe you were attacked by a rouge flamingo as a child

  2. This is why Tampa sucks were a bunch of front runners I watch sports to see athletes not to see things I can do myself in my backyard

No one cares about Women's Basketball!!!    On a Thursday night in  November of  2007, ESPNU held a WBB Invitational St Pete Times Forum.  USF vs Duke followed  by Oklahoma vs Tennessee.. The actual attendance that night was greater than that at most USF Men's basketball games.

I think that is more of a reflection of our fans who only support winners

  3.

Agree, Womens games are as exciting as the mens if not more if you go by the level of play on the court.  I have men's season tickets (missed 1 game) , attended 4 womens games(bought individually) might buy the season tickets next year.

Would be nice to pack the place for both Men and Women.  Women had some nice crowds for the UConn , ND games, Not sure about the others.

I guess seeing who has the best fundamentals, and who can make the most mid range jump shots in 40 minutes is fascinating to you.  Woman athletics recieve 35 percent of NCAA funding on average, and in some cases equal funding in select athletic programs.  To me this is a joke and wouldn't hold up in a free market.

Unlike Stan Heath basketball, USF women's basketball is very entertaining.

I'm not sure if your trolling or not

Is that the best you can do?

I'm a USF season ticket holder for both men's, and women's basketball.  I enjoy USF women's basketball far more than I do Heath ball.

Is this the Heath ball you are referring to. Sorry your such a front runner that you have to resort to watching girls basketball to get enjoyment as a fan. I am sure there are some dominant teams in the YMCA youth league maybe you should be their biggest fan

  6. This team beat a Georgetown team that vastly overachieved this season.  If you were at the game where they came to the Sun Dome you would understand that they were not anything special, and in my opinion an average team in a deep conference who got some lucky breaks.  San Diego State what a quality win...(Sarcasm).  After that little stunt that FGCU played today I am predicting that UF will not only beat them but probably take them behind the woodshed.  If they beat UF I will give credit to this run, but beating two average teams in my mind doesn't justify anything.

  7. This thread is ridiculous FGCU had a team built for one season not a sustainable program. If you compare where our Basketball program is currently projecting out into the future we are in a very good position in comparison. Only an ignorant fan would look at this years lackluster results and judge this program or its coach. We have made a complete 180 degree turn since Heath's arrival here and if we stay the course we will reap the benefits /THREAD

They said during the game the other night that they have one senior that plays a lot on the roster.

Since Heath has been here we've 180'd then 180'd then 180'd and now 180'd again.

That being said, no one will remember FGCU in 6 months for this.

I don't understand what you expect from Stan he was competing in the BEST basketball conference in the nation and playing with mid major talent.  Two 20 win seasons are you kidding me? Look at where the team is right now as in today. With the recruiting we had this year and the athletes we have coming back I don't only expect us to compete next year I expect to see us competing at the top of the conference.

  9. I have never seen such a fiscally responsible fan base, can't imagine we will ever get a OCS with this type of attitude.  I think USF should aim large, I think big things are around the corner, and we will soon make that 30 million back.  Showing conferences we are willing to spend money only helps us, because it shows we are dedicated towards building a winner.  Our potential is our biggest asset we should be looking for ways to increase this, and it may just land us a spot back in a BCS conference.  Doing nothing and just sitting on this cash is a good indicator that we would do the same if gifted with big time TV money.  By spending big it means you mean big, but hey I guess conference USA will be a blast....again.  We shouldn't be preparing for uncertainty, but instead doing everything we can to get a spot back in BCS football, if we miss this chance with open conference realignment we may never get another.  At least we will have a balanced budget WOOOH

Brody love the passion but please  don't  do any financial planning or return on investment projects any time soon...

IMO No CEOor financial director would buy into your reasoning...Now if YOU were willing to loan us the 15M interest free we could talk.

    Go rich Bulls

weird I am a finance major

  11. You want to be average go ahead and be conservative, you say cash is king well I say college football is the king of cash.  Build it and it will come this is an investment, we have a massive enrollment we should take advantage of that and build this football program.  Just look at what success in football did for the University of Florida through the 90s and 2000s they probably make that 30 million in a few home games.  Football made the school a destination, it put them on the map, I think the same thing can happen here.  That will never happen though if nobody is going to take a risk, and we just continue to be conservative.  Btw how has that conservative approach worked since the firing of JL?

Here's a picture of the Gators' IPF ....

    7795906848_210b99bcb8_z.jpg

It looks better than O'Leery's tinfoil oven.

Just because they don't have an ipf doesn't mean they don't invest in their athletics program. You ever been to the swamp? They have tradition we don't and we need to compensate through our facilities and coaching

  12.

Don't have a problem with an indoor facility but I don't think the moment is right...

Too many unknowns right now...Cash is King...Cancel Debt etc..entrance fee's

If there was some stability and we were in a new stable  conference  my blessing...

    Go Bulls

So your idea is to sit on our hands and hope we get picked up...No we have to make our athletics program more attractive to the ACC/Big 12

Building an IPF isn't gonna make us more attractive to the ACC/Big XII. The university has already shown a commitment to putting up top notch facilities.

Having the money for a conference buyout on hand, however, may sway someone into taking us.

This money should be directly invested into our facilities. We don't have the tradition of our in state recruiting rivals so we have to get an edge in another way. Just think about it if we used this 30 million for a IPF and the down payment on a OCS in 10 years we would have state of the art lifting and player facilities to go along with a IPC and and a brand new on campus stadium. I can't think of a way to make our program more attractive besides winning lol

Brody...Take a step back...Take a look at the big picture....the primary reasons recruits choose a school is conference, coaches...IMO .IPF is way down on the list....along with OCS..*I don't believe any on this blog would not like IPF or an OCS...but  spending money on these items right now does not apear to be the most logical decision..Having cash reserves conference entrance fees,,,short fall in game attendance due to last two years performance..is the most prudent course of action....

CEO's of companies are normally very conservative....Cash reserves relieves anxiety and stress....Board of Directors are conservative....University Presidents are conservative and AD are conservative....With all the turmoil in our conference...IPF and OCS have very little chance of being implimented...Once again good things for our future just not the right moment...

  14. I don't think it's the right time to build an indoor practice facility either.

An IPF won't help sway recruits from the in-state 'power' schools and I don't think it will have any implications what-so-ever in us potentially being invited to another conference. The forces at work then will be "potential" & tv market (B12 - not going to happen) or needing to fill the void left by other teams departures (ACC).

I really think we should use the funds to pay down as much athletic debt as possible and save the rest for future endeavors.

You act like debt matters paying off our debt doesnt do a thing to help this program. Won't matter anyways when our federal reserve blows up our economy imo
