  1. Phil Steele:

USF makes my Most Improved List and gets my call to earn their first ever Big East Title, to finish the ssn ranked for the first time and to land in a BCS bowl."

interesting quote: "Land in a BCS Bowl"- If you look at USF's history, we have an odd track record of being the last team to win a bowl that either does not exist the following year or undergoes some form of change..... 2013/14 is the last traditional BCS year....

Yes, I watch Ancient Aliens, Ghost Adventures, and believer there is a loch ness monster; I just think the universe has certain repeating patterns

In this case, let me start saving up to buy some BCS NC tix, since the BCS will no longer decide the NC with the new playoffs. Also, an archaeology USF professor of mine, Dr. Strange, says that the notion that Aliens might have somehow been around a long time ago is nothing to scoff at. As for the Loch Ness monster, I saw Troy bag that thing on Swamp People. This has to be our year to do something great. Just tell BJ to stop running with the ball in his hand.

  2. Good. Nice and hot afternoon games on Saturday.

FWIW, Hofstra played 10 games in Florida this year and went 2-8 in them. Granted, it was early in the season and they played some good teams, but their record playing in this heat isn't very good.

We are an excellent team and its gonna be hot. This bodes well for us.

  3. The "superstar" of my 09 PCHS class, Sirchauncey Holloway, tried transferring to Armwood when our coach and his father got into it because his father felt that the coach wasn't giving Chauncey the ball enough. He got caught by the county though, since he didn't live in the Armwood zone and was banned from playing sports. Point is, Armwood coach was on board with having students lie about their address to play for them. Isn't that what their baseball team got cited for a while back also? Ineligible players?

  4. New policies in College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the one ANYONE accepted to USF can declare their major in, recently raised the minimum acceptable grade to receive credit in from D- to C-. Weed out the slackers who do just enough to get by. I was pretty astonished when a self-proclaimed slacker in my class informed me of the D- policy. He stank of Ranch and Mary Jane. They are also requiring more math courses for some majors, effective Fall 2012. So yeah, we aren't that great academically but the school is raising the minimum requirements to get a degree and trying to raise our academic profile.

You need a 2.0 - either in all major-related classes, or all classes period, I can't really remember - in order to graduate, so a D- is not "just enough to get by." A C- is "just enough to get by." I am consistently amazed by the number of students that get Cs and Ds and are not embarrassed by it.

EDIT: Actually, a C- is 1.67 GPA points, so even a C- is not good enough as an average.

I don't remember the ins and outs since I don't get anything below a B. You can get a D- and still receive credit for the course if its a general elective. Not an elective related to the major, but just a general elective. I'm not really sure and I don't care enough to look for the actual policy since I'm on my phone. Regardless, a D-, if currently acceptable to receive credit for any course, is embarassingly low.

  6. I was sitting in class, looking out the window instead of taking notes since it was one those days where I don't feel like doing anything but I'd rather be in class checkin out the ladies instead of at home doing nothing and then getting mad at myself for not going to class, and I saw them cleaning the dome. It made my day.
