  1. The articles and quotes were all from the last 24 hours after an AP release. Alvarez may or may not think Taggart is still in play, but he is clearly using it in his recruiting schtick. That's why the ambiguity in my post, but this isw NOT dated news.

And yes Trip, I knew the initial interview with Willie took place before he was hired at USF

This is what I was sooooo pissed about when we hired CWT... From what I heard, USF only interviewed Taggart and Nutt, and they only interviewed Nutt because his agent pressed the issue. USF contacted other coaching candidates, but only interviewed two candidates out of like 15.

Its impossible to get a good salary out of a new hire for a any big level spot if you handicap yourself by not having a good field of candidates, so you can use those candidates to negotiate your chosen candidate down in price.

    Its salary negotiations 101.

I'm sorry, I must have missed you being in on the interview and selection process. I'd love to hear everything about the process, who was interviewed when, how each interview went, what was good and what was bad about each interview.

If you could supply us all the details about what happened, since you were there, that would be awesome.

I'm going off of news reports which all stated (all of the ones I read) that USF only interviewed two people... if I know this then I'm sure CWT's agent knew this as well. It automatically puts USF at a disadvantage in the negotiation process.

you realize he's earning like $900k less than our last coach right? his contract from what i understand is very favorable towards USF. nothing like Holtz contract.

Even so he is still one of the highest paid coaches in the Big East and he has not done anything.

USF could had got him for a lot less had they played the game more.

    Negotiations is a art.

Why? So we can get picked off after a season? USF did exactly what it needed to do. This thread is ridiculous, people already complaining and we haven't even played a game yet. Typical Bulls fans. The thread should have never even been started since it has no relevance anymore. CWT interviewed before he took this job and that is that.

Sorry I don't think Coach T has the character of Todd Graham. I also don't think Alvarez offers him the job, that looks bad on his part. Alvarez has a little more class then the former Badger coach.

Don't disagree, I just wanted everyone to know that the conversation was going on out there. 93 articles on Google, I thought deserved a small mention here, given it's context.

I think it had legs a few days before we hired him. We had a few days advantage and was able to offer while Wisconsin wanted to interview a little longer.

  4. Bad shooting night.

It was the result of great defense on the part of the Huskers.

    This.

Nebraska played a strong 3-2 zone that we couldn't crack. Plus, Nebraska played a much more physical brand of basketball which took its toll down the stretch.

Now our ladies know what they need to work on. This team can score so I am interested to see how the rest of the season goes for them.

  5. Boy, thanks, I needed some of the this feeling again. Welcome home Coach T.

At first I thought that was an Adam Sandler tune.

Found out it was "Coldplay". My niece - 18 year old freshman - likes this song (for reasons that escape me).

Truthfully, that's a bit more...oh, how do we say this....weepy, than I like with my football.

However, I suppose if one wanted to cuddle on the couch with some warm cocoa and talk about

their feelings, well, I can see where this tune would make for good background music.

    Really...

Great video, brings back the memories that seem like so long go!!

  6. You know because all coaches should be the same. I know Skip didn't work out here, and I wanted him gone as much as the next person , but I hope he kills it at La Tech to offset some of the **** people have given the most minute details of his tenure...

No program should have to suffer through what he will bring to the table. He will not kill it at La Tech. Looking at past results, 6-8 wins is his max. Nice person, but one of the worst coaches in the game. The only reason he one three games is because we have decent. We were very close to being the Southern Miss of the BCS teams.

  7. I love this university and bleed green and gold, but let’s look at some things.

    Large Commuter School

    Abysmal 6 year graduation rates

Ranked 170th Nationally by US News

    Relatively new football program

Plays home games in an NFL stadium, 12 miles from campus

Has actual attendance around 30K for non-marquee matchups.

Never finished higher than 3rd in the Big East, Never finished ranked.

1 NCAA Basketball tournament in 20 years.

Resides in the 13th largest media market.

Looking at this, it is pretty clear that USF is where it is supposed to be in terms of conference re-alignment. The only thing we have going for us is the large media market, but all the other schools in this conference were chosen for that reason too. The Big East gave us a huge gift because they wanted to maintain a presence in Florida, our lot never improved.

What if we are stuck in this conference for the next 5 years? If things do not improve, what makes us think we will be first in line to get into another conference? Yes, Florida has fertile recruiting grounds and maybe FSU will bolt for another conference at some point. However, we cannot bank that in 5 years USF will be in a better position than UCF under that mindset. The Big 12 might not choose to expand to Florida, we just don’t know.

Instead of blaming others I hope we start looking at some of these things, and look for ways to improve. Administration and the fan base should take ownership. I for one will continue to support USF athletics via donations and attendance at football games. I will make it a point to have all 6 of my season tickets used. I will also continue to press administration to improve academics. We have to take some responsibility.

What scares me the most is the entitlement mindset, and that we somehow deserve to be at the table with the big boys. Let’s sit idle and see if we get picked up. Sure if the ACC or Big 12 came calling we would gladly accept, but that gift might not ever come.

Fat, Drunk, and Stupid is no way to go through life, lets clean up...........

Going to disagree with you on just about everything. The University of South Florida is one of the Premier research Universities in this state. AAU status will come with time. The money is there now but that is not enough. AAU membership requires results. Just look around you, USF just had a professor win educator of the year in the entire nation. The results are there as well and just need a few more years of proof. USF is no longer the fall back school kids are getting denied here and getting into FSU and other schools on a consistent basis now. I'm sure that works both ways, but not something you could say a few years ago. USF is also considered the one of the leaders of the up and coming institutions ranking top 5 yearly. Our academics are fine as I am sure University Presidents would be well aware of this information. I really hashed out at DW in the past but I know see the light. Our Administration knows that USF's way into a major conference is to bring to the table upgrades in ALL SPORTS. Football needs to catch up, basketball needs to stay hot, and baseball needs new leadership which will come after this season.

Commuter school. You can keep thinking that way, but that is not true anymore. Housing is full to the point where the school just put pressure to speed up the Fontana Hall property remodel project. It will be ready for the fall...

You disagree with everything yet you do not refute any of these claims that USF just does not stack up that well with the schools in the power conferences. Yes, we are certainly improving, Judy is doing a great job. But we are simply where we should be in terms of the conference situation.

You’re not very smart if you think a university that is 50 and in some cases 100 years younger than most of these schools it is in competition with, would have the resources to automatically compete with these schools on a yearly basis. The reality of the situation is on the wall. Many on here accuse Judy of not doing her job and I laugh at them. Look at the schools academics before and now after her arrival. You say let's clean it up all happily like no one is doing anything. The administration is working their ass off get us out of this mess. It will take time and the university is right where it should be. On the cusp of becoming a great institution and after a little more than 50 years. I would say that is far ahead of the schedule anyone could have predicted.

Please lay to bed the OCS statement. Has it help UCF get into a better conference then the Big East? UCF a school whose recent athletic results are far superior to ours. Athletics and the university made a commitment to improve basketball and non-revenue sports facilities. They saw this mess on the horizon and reacted and did the smart thing. USF is not willing to build a metal disaster of a stadium just to say we have one. They choose to spread out our dozen eggs instead of laying them all in one basket. How anyone can say that was the wrong decision is shocking to me. Look at the state of the football program. So we put the 100 million down on a new stadium and build something like Minnesota has. Now we have a start of the art stadium for a currently failing program and awful facilities for every other sport. The correct decision was made and playing in Ray Jay is right for this university at this time.

Is the university where it should be? Yes it is, it is exactly where should be given the circumstances. Is it where it wants be? No, it shows this by the improvements it is making to itself. The University of South Florida is gaining ground fast in the central Florida area. Every time I go out I am shocked by how much bull’s apparel is now walking around instead of hanging on a rack. When I first came to love this University, a member of my family was and still is one of greatest women's basketball players this school has ever seen. I have been around it ever since that time. While it is only 10 or so years the improvements in that time frame are ridiculous. I am refuting every claim you make as you are acting like nothing is being done. I used be like your kind on this board, coming on here stirring the pot for the helluva it and seeing everyone’s reactions. Sit back and look around you, the University of South Florida is and has done everything it can to improve and makes itself more attractive. The rest is out of its hands.

  9. Aside from last year, we havent had a good season in 20 years. We have been poopoo in football for the past two years. We have been poopoo in baseball for years now. Our only good sport is soccer and lol if you think anyone gives a ****. Yes, with upgraded facilities and the like our future looks(maybe looked?) bright, but we need more time. The timing of all of this is what hurts the most. Just when we start to our climb again they pull the rug from under us. Shame.

And Softball buddy don't forget them. The only team who had a real shot at Winning its sport's National Title last year. Well you could say Men's basketball as well. Had they not played an average game against Ohio last season is a different story. They would taken down a limping North Carolina and who knows from there.

  10. Bulls247â€@Bulls247

DT Derrick Calloway unsure of where #Bulls stand now that DT coach Kevin Patrick is gone

Really sad we got rid of him...

The guy was an ok coach. Not hard to see why we got rid of him. So what you may lose ONE recruit this season. Coach T will bring in guys that can recruit and coach, if you only got trick your bus stop is up next and you need to get off.

  11. Charlotte?

    Did someone say Charlotte?

You know, Charlotte being in CUSA, and our love for CUSA teams, why this might just be a good thing.

Well, good for me, as it's just about a ten minute drive from the stadium to the ranch back home.

    Yeah...Go Niners!

And they, at least, have the common decency to play in an OCS and not some NFL thing uptown...

Another OCS Chest Beater. You wanna pay for it?

  12. I agree Mike, I do not think it is fair to blame anyone for upgrading the other sports facilities. Nobody could have predicted what has unfolded. However, we did upgrade the facilities for sports that are essentially also rans in this whole process. The upgrades really do not benefit anyone but the teams that use them, there is no trickle affect to the rest of the university. It would be interesting to see the thought process involved in taking care of them first before looking after football. It is clear that football is the driver and does have impact on the rest of the university. It might possibly be that they were just low hanging fruit, or they were so terrible the Big East was complaining. In this situation I think the majority of fans would rather be paying debt on a football stadium then these facilities, but obviously hindsight is always 20/20.

I still do not see why USF does not have specific fundraising campaigns for the Indoor Practice Facility or an eventual stadium fund. We can't raise money until we ask. Let the people in the Foundation put their creative brains to work and come up with some fundraising gimmicks.

Do you remember what our facilities looked life before? There are other athletes at this University that deserve the facilities that were built. Why would USF put itself in that much debt? If the A.D did not suspect what has taken place in the realignment process, then he was not doing his job. He knew it would be a long shot to put USF in another conference. Raymond James fits our football needs. Soccer and Softball are the most successful sports on the campus and we played in a conference known for basketball. It’s pretty clear to see why the upgrades were made and when.

  13. Doug and Judy are fine with it, so long as we keep UCF on the schedule.

Glad Fowler Avenue's monitoring the changing landscape of college football. Without their monitoring activities, I don't know where we'd be...

WTF do you want them to do? Just because they didn't consult you, doesn't mean that they are not working to get us out of this mess. If no one wants us, then no one wants us. It's really that simple.

There is nothing they can do. We are not who you think we are.

This. We will be saved when the ACC is poached again, which will happen. Hold your ground.

  14. Bulls247 @Bulls247

Skip Holtz's staff let go. Was told they'd individually interview for their job, but got canned before their interviews took place.

Guys, I am not happy about this. WTF Willie.

The more I think about this the more pissed I am.

Well stay pissed. Business is Business. The current staff (well previous staff now) got worse from year to year. I would have jumped for joy had he fired everyone. The one guy who got saved should be kissing the ground and thanking the lawd.

I'm thinking he got retained due to his recruiting prowess and the fact that he was an original player here. KPat was an original coach here too, but I think Taggs wants his guy Woodie in here, I expect like Databull said, he'll be a DL coach.

Yea Scott can recruit and it helps to have a guy with so much invested in the program. Why did everyone want Patrick to stay? Am I missing something here? Willie can find another great recruiter.

He's been pretty passionate about the program and I believe was one of the first coaches out of the tunnel for that very first game in 1997 ..

Well the defense playing so bad did him in. Willie probably wants to start over fresh on that side of the ball.

  17. Has Coach T talked with him yet? if not, hold on. That kid with Willie would be something special, I mean BCS contenders special.

White has the talent around him at University like what he will have here. If Woulard dosen't want to come here then so be it. White will do a fine job and might have even beat him our for the start. Woulard is not the gotta have guy anymore. Just go watch some tape on White's University team in the playoffs.
