  1. http://news.yahoo.com/590m-plus-powerball-1-winning-ticket-sold-fla-061647844.html

    Sold in Tampa area......

"It's all about the odds, and one single ticket in Florida has beaten them all by matching the numbers drawn for the highest Powerball jackpot in history at an estimated $590.5 million, lottery officials disclosed Sunday.

The lone winner was sold at a Publix supermarket in Zephyrhills, Fla., according to Florida Lottery executive Cindy O'Connell. She told The Associated Press by telephone that more details would be released later.

"This would be the sixth Florida Powerball winner and right now, it's the sole winner of the largest ever Powerball jackpot," O'Connell told AP. "We're delighted right now that we have the sole winner."

She said Florida has had more Powerball winners than any other state.

The winner was not immediately identified publicly and O'Connell did not give any indication just hours after Saturday's drawing whether anyone had already stepped forward with that winning ticket."

Would the odds doubled to 350 million to one if someone won lottery and committed to funding OCS on the BullsPen......?

  2.

Ginzalez just hit Futgers batter, and the announcers said he didn't move.

I thought you had to make a move to avoid the ball, or you didn't get your base?

A never enforced rule. I don't think I've ever seen it called in 50 years of watching baseball.

as an Astros fan & watching Craig Biggio play for a while (MLB all-time leader in HBP had been called for it on a couple occasions)

  3. I was on the same flight last night as the Rutgers Baseball team from Newark NJ to Tampa. We didn't arrive at TIA until 1130 pm. Than they had to go get their bags, go to the hotel, ect... Im sure they didn't get a good nights rest.

It was chilly up there as well and had been all week, High in the 60's low in the 30's/ 40's So I'm sure the Fla Heat will play a factor.

Cpl of  funny notes, Was surprised at how Tall a lot of their players are. They looked like BB players not Baseball.   Also they didn't seem very organized or too bright, One lost his boarding pass in NJ and had to get a new one, He didn't have his ID so the gate agent was giving him a hard time, it was hilarious but he did end up getting a new one and made the flight.

I sat  Listening to them talk among themselves and I Knew we wouldn't have a problem beating them, They didn't come off to bright. Not saying they are stupid but didn't seem to educated.

They seemed like a High school group not a College Team.

too* sorry, I always notice when people misspell words like that

    1. What would be your estimated donation? 50 million
    2. Given naming rights in return what would it be (if your donation is $25 million or less, forget it)? Lee Roy Selmon Field, maybe Stadium (if no company that were right to sponsor it/pay enough)
    3. What unique feature or design would you request as part of your donation? I want this stadium to STAND OUT and  and ask for ideas from USF fans to submit ideas
    4. What/who does the statue out front depict or resemble? Since stampede of Bulls already outside of MSC, I would have statue of LRS
    5. What would be your last football or stadium related request as a new big money donor to USF Athletics? 4 front row seats at 50 yard line on home side & sideline passes and/or 4 best available seats for visiting team on away games. Also get access to locker room after games
  4. USF guard Shaun Noriega, who missed most of last season with a foot injury and is likely to get a medical redshirt from the NCAA, won't be back with the Bulls next season.

Noriega, limited to eight games as a senior in 2012-13 due to a stress fracture in his foot, should be eligible for a medical redshirt, but hasn't been officially granted another year of eligibility. He graduated from USF last week, so he'll be eligible to transfer and play his final season anywhere that has a graduate program not offered by USF, if he so chooses.

Noriega started 25 games in his four seasons with the Bulls, hitting 36 percent of his 3-point attempts over his career. The graduate of North Port High School, near Sarasota, flashed the potential for serious streak shooting, as seen in two memorable wins during his Bulls career

In the 2011 Big East tournament, Noriega went 4-for-4 on 3-pointers in the first four minutes, finishing with 22 points and sparking the Bulls to a 70-69 upset win against Villanova that heralded USF's success in 2011-12. Noriega had a key cameo in a Big East win during the Bulls' run that season, hitting two 3-pointers in one minutes off the bench to rally the Bulls to a 55-48 win at Providence.

With Noriega not returning, USF is still one scholarship over the limit, presuming all returning players and signees are with the team. Stan Heath can resolve that if his son Josh, a standout point guard from Tampa Prep, isn't on scholarship in his first season with the Bulls.

TAMPA – Sara Nevins’ junior season packed full of accomplishments now includes the conference’s top pitching honor.

USF’s left-handed ace was named Big East Pitcher of the Year at the league’s pre-tournament awards banquet Wednesday night. Nevins also grabbed a spot on the All-Big East First Team with teammate Kourtney Salvarola, who became a unanimous selection after tying for third in the conference with 13 home runs.

Third baseman Kenshrya Jackson made the All-Big East Second Team while Lindsey Richardson, the Bulls’ right-handed ace, become a third-team selection a night before the conference tournament begins at USF Softball Stadium.

Nevins currently ranks fourth nationally with a 1.06 ERA in 178 1/3 innings in a season that saw the junior become USF’s all-time strikeout leader with 759 and counting. Nevins no-hit Pitt on April 6 and leads the Bulls’ staff with a 22-7 record and 230 strikeouts in 40 appearances.

Nevins tied for the Big East lead with 125 strikeouts in league play while ranking second in ERA (1.18), wins (13) and opposing batting average (.166). The Pinellas Park, Fla., native earned Big East Pitcher of the Week honors twice and was one of 25 finalists for the 2013 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award.

Salvarola, a shortstop, leads USF in almost every statistical category including batting average (.360), runs (37), hits (54), RBIs (41), homers, slugging percentage (.693) and on-base percentage (.470). The junior was named Big East Player of the Week on April 1 and has landed a spot on the conference’s weekly honor roll three times this season.

Jackson has committed just three errors in 103 attempts at the hot corner this season while ranking second on the team with 10 homers, 34 RBIs and a .549 slugging percentage. The senior ranks fourth on the team with a .296 batting average and she’s hit .379 in the past 10 games with two doubles, a triple, two homers and 11 RBIs.

Richardson (11-4) ranks ninth in the country with a 1.20 ERA and threw no-hitters against Marshall (Feb. 8), Maine (March 12) and Providence (April 13). The senior is second on the team with 186 strikeouts and ranks fifth on USF’s all-time list with 541.

USF (40-14, 18-3) finished the regular season as the Big East’s second seed and starts its tournament run 6:30 p.m. Thursday against seventh-seeded Providence.

Bulls Finish Strong to Claim BIG EAST Title

    By TOM ZEBOLD

    USF Senior Writer

KISSIMMEE â€“ The Bulls pulled away from the pack down the stretch to win their first-ever Big East Men’s Golf Championship on Tuesday afternoon at the Reunion Resort.

USF combined to go 7 under on the back nine and finished at 6 under, four shots ahead of St. John’s. The Bulls were tied for the lead through 15 holes before seizing the program’s fifth Big East tournament title overall and the conference's automatic bid to NCAA Regionals. The win also marks the USF men’s golf team’s 12th conference championship after finishing tops in the Sun Belt from 1979-1989.

“That’s what champions do. The best teams separate themselves and these guys did such an unbelievable job of stepping up at the right time,†head coach Chris Malloy said.

Freshman Chase Koepka finished second individually, only one stroke behind Cincinnati’s David Tepe at 7 under. Koepka started the tournament with consecutive rounds of 70 and closed with a 3-under 69 in his fifth top-10 finish of the season.

“I’ve been playing my best golf this semester and I keep raising the bar almost every tournament,†he said. “It was great to come out this week and do what I needed to do. It was a special week with all these guys.â€

Junior Richard James played a big hand in USF’s stellar finish by carding a 68 and collecting four birdies on the back nine - three in a row on holes 14 through 16 - to finish in a tie for 11th place with teammate Trey Valentine at 2 over.  USF started the day with a two-stroke lead and James said the team’s ability to remain cool under pressure paid dividends in crunch time.

“I think the biggest key was patience this week. You can’t really force things because then it goes wrong,†James said. “You could see a couple of teams try to force it coming in instead of letting things happen.â€

Devin Hernandez, the team’s No. 5 player, stepped up with a 69 in the final round and jumped all the way up to 18th place at 4 over. The senior birdied three out of his final five holes of an event he didn’t know he’d be playing in until last week.

“I was actually kind of nervous to be out here and I wasn’t expecting to play really,†he said. “(Down the stretch) I knew this was my time. I’ve waited four years for this and I’m not going to let this go by.â€

Malloy’s squad joined the 2007 USF women’s tennis team, the 2008 men’s soccer team, the 2009 men’s tennis team and the 2012 women’s golf team as Big East tournament champions.

“This is what we’ve talked about. To finally do it and have proof of it with that trophy in your hands is unbelievable, especially with the way we finished. It makes it even that much sweeter,†Malloy said.

USF now waits to find out what its travel plans will be for the NCAA Regionals that take place in six locations May 16-18 with a possible destination being the Golden Eagle Golf & Country Club in Tallahassee. The NCAA Men’s Golf Championships begin May 28 at the Capital City Club Crabapple Course in Atlanta.

  7. Enough of the criticism. You negative Nancy's need to ease off.

I'm glad the student body cares enough to want to start new traditions here at our university. Have you seen the old USF football jerseys? There's a season ticket holder near us who always rocks one, and that think looks throwback and its awesome. Inviting past players would be great for our alumni base as well, have to show respect to those who got you where you are.

Cowbells are a cool idea. And they're LOUD. That'd be something that catches on real quick and would be known throughout the NCAA about us.

Fight song? I like the enthusiasm but I don't know if you can just do that. Hope we can come up with something clever if we do go this route.

They never said how many they'd end up adopting. Could be 1, could be 2, or all 3.

you only approved 2 and shot down 1 lol

  8. Shocking twist of events. The 2nd game will not be played due to USF needing to catch their flight and the first game taking so long.

There will likely be no make up game.

That just seems like poor management that a double header is scheduled to start at 2:00, and 4:30 is too late to start the second game. Why couldn't the games be started at 1 or even noon?  Seems ridiculous that we lose a conference game because of something like this.

if baseball can play at 11 on a Sunday especially at last minute, this can definitely be done
