  1. I have gotten so perturbed this year with ESPN calling us UCF. So I called them after hearing it again at halftime and during the highlights after our bowl game and the highlights played during the other games.

I forgot the guy’s name. It was not Joey Galloway or Jesse Palmer. I asked politely that he be informed of his mistake and if they could correct the highlights narrative.

I was told that it would be passed on but not guaranteed that the highlights narrative will be corrected. But at least they know it was noticed.

He needs not go, got it

Yes he does need to go. The O line seems to get worse each game by not protecting QF and hardly no holes for the backs to run through.  He hasn't taught the running backs that if there is not a hole to go around the pile instead of just running into it. If he'd watch other FBS games he could see what a wide variety of plays that other teams use and add some of them to the 6 plays in his play book. That is for starters.

Then there is personnel usage or lack thereof. When has there been a designed play where the tight end blocks then releases and is passed to. As well as draws, screens, flea flickers, etc.

He didn't have success at Texas with this type of plays and play calling, what makes you think it will be different here. He knew what worked for us last year so why not stick with it. It's the same offensive unit just minus 2 players. And this is just scratching the surface. Time management is just to long to get into now.

Where is the CCS wide open offense from Louisville?

  3. My thoughts:

Poor coaching in all 3 areas.

    Poor play calling on offense.

Poor offensive coaching, ex. If running back is to go up middle but no hole, then he should go to outside.

No killer instinct, say like Bama.

We seem now to be playing to the level of our opponents instead of what we are capable of.

Where is the offense that Strong ran when he was at Louisville. That was wide open, not this conservative crap.

I'll take heat for this but Flowers is a heck of an athlete but a fair and inconsistent QB. If not for his running ability, he'd never be the starter.

Tulane was a poor win and we deserve to drop in the rankings.

At this point the way we're playing, we'll be beat by at least Houston and as much as I hate to say it, UCF. And Navy is another possibility.

Something has to change quick if we're going to win the conference championship as predicted. That means better coaching overall and better execution on the field and a different mindset in the players to not give up or let up until the final buzzer sounds.

Sounded sincere in his remarks about USF... now he is making 3.2 million a year vs 1.7 here, and has better facilities and resources and can continue to coach and influence young people. How some fans are so critical of the man bettering himself is beyond me.

"Sounded" is the key word. I don't have a problem with someone bettering themselves. Sincere is a whole different issue. How sincere and thankful was he to his players and coaching staff that they had to hear he was leaving on the local news instead of by him face to face? How sincere and thankful was he when, before meeting with our team and his staff, he had already placed calls to all the top rated recruits that were to come to USF to try and convince them to follow him to Oregon?

Sorry but to me he was thinking of nobody but himself and showed his (and our) team, his staff, and us loyal USF fans just how INSINCERE he really is by his actions. His words mean nothing. His actions speak volumes.

Having been a season ticket holder since 2001, I've paid my dues and only missed 2 games in that time. I've seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. I was at all the firsts at Florida, FSU, Auburn, and Miami along with most bowl games. So I have the right to express my opinion, whether anyone agrees with me or not. Good riddance Willie and now we can take his knife out of our backs and get back to playing and winning our bowl game.

You're in the minority on this thread because it wasn't set up as another CWT bitchfest but I'm not sure you're in the minority overall, on this board anyway ..... and how exactly do you know that he turned his back without a thought? ... You people need to come to grips with the fact that CJL is never coming back, we're probably never getting someone as passionate about the program and USF football is bigger than CJL and CWT ..... hopefully.

You got to be kidding!  The players and coaching staff found out CWT was leaving by hearing it on the news this AM. That should tell you that he was thinking of nobody but himself and never gave it a second thought.  He apparently was forced to call a meeting at 1:30 PM to talk with the team and staff. That was a "no class move" Willie.  Bye Bye.

Yeah, I'm sure I'm in the minority here but this love fest for Willie doesn't extend to me. But I was also in the minority when my family and I continued to offer him support whenever we saw him when his head was on the block. We did this not just because he was our coach but because he was from the area and the whole #baymade thing was awesome. And I realize that I am in the minority as I feel that going from making ones of millions of dollar to 10 of millions of dollars shouldn't trump loyalty. Plus he left us b4 the bowl game, which I understand is SOP, doesn't mean i have to like it. So forgive me when I say I will never root for that guy again (not that he cares), his ability to turn his back without a thought in the world is reprehensible. Bring back Jim Leavitt, he was USFs only true coach.

I agree whole heartedly. In the number of times I saw him in person at different functions, he never convinced me he was 100% in with and for USF. He said what was expected but his attitude was not the exuberance that Leavitt's had.  You all can hate me if you want, but this is how I feel. I read the board a lot but very seldom post, and with this new like and dislike crap, I'll probably post less.   I make no apologies for what I believe.

Sorry we don't agree on this one BDYZR.

Fire Willie!   He doesn't even know how to spell the name of the man the building his office is located is named after.    The Lee Roy Selmon Athletics Center.

I would not fire CWT, since he is a good recruiter, but his coaching and especially play calling skills leave a lot to be desired. The skill of most of his players make him look good in spite of himself.

I am surprised there wasn't a news flash shortly after that post of his, that he broke his arm patting himself on the back.  To me, his post seemed like nothing more than him saying, look at me and how good I am.

The only class act in this thread is Lee Roy Selmon. The jury is still out on CWT.

Hope your are right. I have no idea at this point. But believe how we respond will tell tons about the rest of the year.  We are going up to the game so it would be nice to get a win up there.

If we come out to make up for today's loss, we should win. Cincy is tied 10 - 10 at close to half against Miami of Ohio. Not impressed with Cincy so far. They are beatable. Should be a good trip for you Bourbon.

Flowers should be the QB on opening day and thereafter until he is just not performing or winning games. This is strictly based on game experience and accomplishments.

No way Woulard unseats him strictly based on preseason

I have been skeptical about Flowers and even in his winning, I have maintained that someone that can only put ip half the rushing yardage he can, but can move the chains more effectively will open ip the offense even more

That being said, it would be a horrible personnel move to remove him after his record setting performances this year. He has earned the right to be the QB for at leat the near future.

Agreed. Since AW has never took a live game day snap after 2 years, and after QF's performance this year, the logical choice is Flowers. He's got a lot of improving to do but we know what he can do in a game situation. We have no idea what the others can do yet.

unfortunately it sounds like he likes playing the victim. always someone else's fault when things don't go his way. he had every opportunity to win the job here. Taggart never wanted to play White as a true freshman. He would have loved if Bench came in and won the job hands down. Bench just wasn't talented enough. sounded like he was bitter at o'brien as well. only difference is o'brien "encouraged" him to transfer while Taggart needed him on the roster. Nobody likes to hear they aren't good enough. There must be some other explanation.

Thanks for all your contributions here and good luck in the NFL

now onto the next great USF backup QB who doesn't get his shot because the coach has it out for him.......

"It is better to be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt" - Abraham Lincoln.

Are you part of CWT's staff  and were you there first hand to hear his comments about not wanting to start White, who by the way touted White's praises and ability as to how much he was going to help the team before he even graduated HS? Do you know Bench personally and did you hear him tell you or someone else that he was not given a fair chance at the QB position and therefore a victim?  Have you compared the total actual game playing time of all the QB's the first and second seasons that CWT and Bench were here to see exactly how much playing time each had each year? Did in fact Bench get equal playing time compared to White and Flowers to get to prove himself?

If you have facts or hard evidence, give them to us, and not just your opinion. Why can't you either just wish Bench well in his endeavor or as the saying goes, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all".   I wish him well in all that he does. As I said before, at least he is going to try, as opposed to not trying at all and then later wonder "what if".

Or a Confefence Championship, heck I'll take the division. Just jeed to build a program that is always competing for Confefence championships year in and year out. The respect will come.

You nailed it. Once we do this over several years consistently, then maybe we can revisit this topic.

He has about... Eh... Zero shot. But I hope he proves us all wrong. I just don't think he has what it takes between the ears to do it. And that isn't a knock on his intelligence. I am just saying that football fast twitch is pretty rare to have, especially at the QB position. Not many people can read a D, find the open receiver, and get it to him in a 5 second play, no matter how athletic you are.

I take it by what you said that: 1) You know Bench personally to question his intelligence, football wise or otherwise, and 2) that you played QB in college so that you have practical experience to critique him, and that you tried out for or played professional football.

If neither are true then the best thing to do is to wish him the best that he will fulfill his dream, or at least know he tried as opposed to always wondering "what if".   There are many "walk-on's" in the NFL or other professional football leagues that probably weren't expected to make it. Hopefully Bench will make it in one of them or know he gave his best trying to make his dream come true.   Don't belittle him for pursuing his dream if you haven't been in his shoes. I know there are things I wished I'd pursued when I was younger but didn't and have wondered "what if".

I've still got my Meineke Car Care Bowl shirt (our first ever bowl game) hanging up in my closet.  Can't bring myself to wear it since we got bageled in that game.

GA do you or anyone else on the board have a Meineke Car Care Bowl pin that you don't want? It's the only bowl pin I don't have since I couldn't go to the game.

Yeah we got beat but would like it anyway. Please let me know if anyone has one that I can get or pay for (reasonable).  Thanks.   Got plenty of Sun Bowl stuff but learned from it to buy after the game instead of before.

Flowers is a bad QB. Plain and simple. However he is a **** good player and and incredible runner. I think our best option is to change him to rb and have AW play QB. Get both on field at same time.

Really???  AW has been in college 3 years now and has yet to play one down of college football. What solid proof do you have that he will be better than QF? I'm not saying that QF is The Man, because he needs to improve his game, especially passing, greatly. And I'd love to see some REAL competition for the QB spot next year.  But AW has proved nothing on the field, and QF is CWT's Golden Boy. And IMO CWT will stay with QF no matter what. Just hope CWT gets QF a lot of help to help him improve his game. He's a great athlete, but regardless of stats, he's an average QB. A better O-line to give him better protection would help a lot also.

  15. Given that he is probably considering the possibilities this very moment, it wouldnt hurt to put some fan pressure on him. We need to get Taggart paid, end of story. If we can get him to commit to the program like Tom Herman has to Houston, I think we would finally turn the corner as a program.

Point is you dont wanna be cheap and lose out on a great coach because you end up paying for it in the long run (see Skip Holtz)

"Really"? You have the same basic scenario with CWT as we did with Holtz. Skip went from a winning season with Leavitt's players to a losing season with half and half. We jumped the gun by giving Skip an undeserved 5 year extension that we are still paying for.

With CWT we've had 2 losing seasons and a bad start to this one. Thankfully it ended well. Though based on stories I've heard, I'm not sure how much of it CWT was responsible for?  So my thought is to tell CWT an extension will be waiting for him if he has another season like this one next year. Would hate to give him an extension now and we bomb next year.

Also since Taggart interviewed for the South Carolina job, why offer him an extension since the indication is he doesn't seem real interested in staying here. And what is that going to do for our recruiting? Will players want to come here knowing that he may leave at any time?  Think about it.

  16. CFN has us in St. Pete with Marshall also.  Would love to play Toledo in Boca.

Would rather play Missouri in Birmingham!  It would look better for us to beat an SEC team. It would show we can run with the big boys.

But "Really " why Tulane instead of us?  We have a much better record and they just fired their coach. Only reason to do that is so the SEC school won't lose to a "lesser" conference team.

Other than contacting USF Admin and ask them to complain, who can we contact with the bowl selection committee to make our displeasure known?
