IF we're going to do an OCS, I vote for Oregon's stadium. We could build a 45-50K sized clone and it would look perfect on campus.

I did this a while back...

It's only a matter of time until Oregon and USF merge into one school.

  2. The meaning of "next level" is subjective. I think a good way to interpret that would be winning the AAC, as winning a conference would obviously be huge and new territory for us.  In that respect, I do think it's very likely that Strong will take us there.  Beyond that, a lot of it is really out of his hands.  As long as he's winning, he's done his part to get us into a P5, the rest it outside of his control.  If he isn't winning, then he can't be considered a success anyway.  Given the right opportunities, I do think it's possible for him to take us to the promised land, but saying it's "very likely" would be a stretch.

In today's USA, if one wants to bring up an extremely sensitive subject, even trying to be sarcastic, you have to expect some backlash. I know the subject turned into a Mad Cow discussion, but HRB's concerns and fears a real.

His concerns may be real, but his assertions that this lighthearted poll was "tasteless", or somehow an example of white privilege, are beyond absurd.

He left Tampa with, "I'll be back." This is the equivalent of, "I'll call you."

I think his comments could have been interpreted either way.  "I don't want to talk about it" seems pretty bad, but maybe he just didn't want to spill the beans.  "I'll be back" sounds good, but maybe it was just a nervous comment in a "I should probably say something here" moment.  Who knows.  It was also in the morning, he was late so maybe he just woke up and was still tired.  Perhaps he was caught off guard by being bombarded by a reporter when he wasn't expecting it.

I'm not reading too much into his comments either way.  The other circumstances of what has been going on, however, are still encouraging.  All we can do is wait and see.

  5. Haven't read everything in the last day or so.  Do we have any information that was even Strong's plane to begin with besides the fact that it was a private jet that came from Texas?

On that same twitter just posted, a there was also a jet from Baton Rouge.  No mention of it leaving.  Does that mean we possibly got Les Miles?  Blind speculation sure is fun.

  6. I think it's an 75% chance or so.  Its looking almost as good as we can hope for.

The one thing that makes me leery is that I read Strong was planning on taking a year off.  If that is accurate, then it's not simply a matter of convincing him to come here over somewhere else, it's also convincing him not to take his year of paid vacation.

I thing is, the administration seems to be keeping things pretty tight lipped.  I have not been paying attention as much as some of you, but have we even heard about other candidates that have interviewed? Do we even know for sure that Strong actually has interviewed?  If we're not really even hearing names, we could certainly get something completely out of left field.

I'm not going to lie, I do have this sinking feeling in my gut that we might end up with Kiffen.  If he's actually considering FAU, then certainly he would be considering us.  And we would almost certainly interview him.  And with his name, who knows...  I'm also starting to come to the realization that as much as I dislike the guy, there's a chance he could end up doing a solid job here we settle for him.  He has HC experience, probably has learned from his failures, ran the offense and learned under Nick freakin Saban, has the Kiffen name which in this area will get the locals excited, the previous two points will probably help with recruiting, and hell, anything can happen.  Perhaps I'm just an optimist, and please don't hold this against me.  I feel ashamed enough already.

That's a bit of a stretch.  He won 10 games for the first time ever and his team obliterated nearly every USF record on offense.

It was a good year, no doubt about it.  But twenty years from now, are we going to be here saying "remember that year we won 10 games"?  I don't think so, and I certainly hope not.  I think that was his point.

It strikes me that we are fortunate to have so many big names available to go after, and to be generating so much interest among themas a job/destination!

This is key right here.  In the past, we've kind of struggled trying to find someone reputable to come in an take over.  It was us competing for a coach.  This time, there's the possibility of the coaches competing to come here, and that's a much better position to be in.

Apparently Miles is a top candidate for Houston. But even if you look at our informal poll here looks like the TBP is not excited about him.

Honestly I find this kind of remarkable. None of the coaches in poll even come close to his resume...

Strong is the flavor of the month guy right now.  In our little corner of the USF universe, he's the hot name.  Even here, I think it's a bit of a mob mentality.  That's not to say that he would be a bad hire, quite the opposite.  He's not my number one pick, but he's second or third.

Maybe someone can explain to me why Les Miles isn't getting more love? He has the best resume of all the coaches currently avaliable.

I'd also like to know why we aren't talking about him.  Is it because we don't think there's a shot at him?  I can't fathom that we wouldn't want him if we were able to land him.  He's pretty much my top option.
