Shame, was really excited about his potential when he first came aboard.

Sweet, heading up there tomorrow. Hopefully it'll rotate back in when I'm there!

Too much rock for one hand

Let's hope that situation exists! Sure our athletic budget is going to be feeling the pinch: significant recent expenditures, likely poor ticket sales next year, Holtz making $500K per year, and a TV contract they may not materialize well for USF. Will be tough to pony up to keep him.

Barrington was in out for a decent part of the game, seemed to be getting his hamstring tended to by a trainer late in the first quarter. Nothing serious as he went back in later. Didn't notice anything exceptionally positive or negative with his play.

Milton is a tiny town. Couldn't imagine there was much of a support cast around him.

Basketball Tickets from the pick 5 games offer, USF cups, USF ping pong balls.

Any news on Blackwell? Would be nice to have him back in some position and I believe there were rumors of him being running backs coach.
-
Honest and fair statement. Wish him the best and hope USF ends up being the right place for him.

Love it, stepping up for the marketing team!

Thank you BJ!
Think AA had a respectable article on him: http://espn.go.com/blog/bigeast/post/_/id/38864/b-j-daniels-leaves-lasting-impact-at-usf

"One of the best defensive lines in the Big East"... seemed to be a consistent theme at the beginning of the year.
1) Ryne Giddins... know there was an article about family issues, maybe this is impacting him? What else is causing his lack of impact?
There has been some pressure from the outside but a complete lack of sacks. Mims has exceeded my expectations.
2) Interior - Watsen, Chanlder, Sager, Pork Chop? Not a bad group, again complete lack of play making? Whyyy?!?!?!?!?!

Too early for Holtz' offsenive line recruits to make an impression? Seems like he's recruited a multitude of offsensive lineman and this has to be one of the worst positions of our team this year.
Looking for real insight and perspective, not another bashing thread lol.
Hope Popek can return...

you know-- maybe all this angst will pull the team together and get the players enraged.
they might show up and give FSU a decent battle--- wouldn't that be a hoot. I'm not saying win as much as keep it respectable.
In that event, I think we should lay down the pitchforks and get our focus on winning the next game.
Basically- we can't do much about the coach right now. We can show our support to the players and encourage them to play hard. I'm ready to circle the wagons and face the enemy. Holtz be damned-- or not-- we have a team to root for people. Get behind them or get outta my way.
I like this. As tough as it is, I pledge to do my support to continue to support them!

Didn't get back in to campus until around 4 am.

I think a lot of people are getting down on the team because of the performance against RU. The defense played off. BJ couldn't make short passes because our O-line couldn't handle the blitz and he was throwing on the run alot. Our run game is much worse than I thought it was to this point.
Key points to think about though are:
Rutgers has 3 guys that are over 6'6" that they were targeting. No way we can blitz affectively with that size. We had to play off and leave it to the D-Line which got tired out through the 3rd quarter because they were on the field for the first 7 mins.
We rely on young players at a lot of key positions: Returner/Wide Reciever/O-Line/Some D-Line
-because of that we're going to have a lot of stupid mistakes(fumbling the ball as they go out of bounds on a return)
BJ can't throw the short to intermediate pass with any accuracy.
-the most disappointing aspect of the season and something I didn't expect. It is easy to blitz a QB that can't throw to a checkdown or a hot route. We have the talent at WR and TE but we can't get the ball to them in space because BJ can't get it to them.
Someone brought up the 20 seconds to go in the first half with two timeouts situation. How did BJ do with 2 mins to go on the 40 against rutgers? Basically how he did against WVU, UofF, and many other teams. He has no accuracy and if I was Skip I wouldn't trust him either.
All that said. I never truly thought we were going to when this game anyways. Coming back from nevada practicing with no sleep on sunday and then going at it on a thursday night against a top 3 big east team is pretty tough. I'm proud of the way the defense played. I wish we could have gotten some interceptions but they had a game plan and the executed it against Rutgers. Remember 10 of their points were of turnovers and it could have easily been 9-0 going into the half if BJ doesn't throw that interception.
I was reading this and I thought:
Bottom line, if we play mistake free football and our opponent turns over the ball enough (whether we force it or they just have a bad day) we win. Otherwise, we lose. If we play mistake free, we beat RU. Same with last year and the year before.
It's just not that often that we play mistake free.
Agreed this is the only way we beat Notre Dame last year. Turnovers.
