COLLEGE SPORTS MADNESS HAS US AT # 15.
That's crazy; they went a very disappointing 1-2 last week.

What a fun atmosphere today! Some really solid basketball and the crowd was really into the game.
What impresses me is that everyone stays until the end, even though we were up by 30. They even wait until the Alma Mater is played.
Refreshing.
That's what comes with the 1,500 people that regularly attend being die-hard. Fantastic effort by the Bulls today, they seem to be well past the earlier L's.

Not for me this year; 8 hours is a little much of a drive for just me, and even if I were to fly up at 7 AM and depart at 6 PM, $300 is a lot of money for a football game.

Great win. Bulls now 7-1 with wins over LSU and St. Johns, the latter of which has historically given CJF fits. Big road game against Oklahoma next Saturday, then a few sub-200 cupcakes before two big homers against Dayton and Michigan State, then onto AAC play!

It's a beautiful day to survive and advance!
No football game today, so consider heading out to Corbett for futbol!

Hopefully it doesn't negatively impact the internships and other opportunities a lot of Mass Comm students take advantage of...Better yet, I'm hoping it would make a positive impact.

Y'all know I'm as big of a homer as any... but I think an 11 seed was the right call; consider this: outside of Temple (x2), who else did the team beat? They didn't play UConn close, lost to a sub-50 RPI team at home. This was a team on the bubble 2 weeks ago. I'm thrilled about going to Tally, and I have my room booked.

Good seed, no whammies. Good seed, no whammies.
Not 8, no bracket with UCONN.
They're going to get one of those two, not both.

Think about what Houston needed to do, both Oklahoma AND Louisville on the OOC schedule, to even be considered for the playoff.

Played the fight song, also had a nice little video on the baseball team's streak. USF color guard presented the colors for the anthem, which was sung by a USF music student. Only downer was the Community Hero video, who was Titus O'Neill, who was apparently a ******* Gator pre-showbiz.
The Rocky hats were a nice touch.
If it makes you feel any better, Titus O' Neill's humanitarianism is literally the only thing keeping him on WWE's roster right now.

Not likely to happen, but if it did..Katie Abrahamson-Henderson.
Agreed on both counts. She has done an amazing job turning UCF into a very, very good program that's going to make a deep run in the WNIT this year.

Interesting note here...
Stanford is right now projected to be a 2-3 seed, and just like Louisville in 2015, they can't host. There's definitely an OUTSIDE chance (~1%) of hosting the first 2 games of the NCAA tournament, but I doubt they'd ship Stanford across the country.

We're probably an 8-9 seed now. Where do you guys think we could get if we beat Temple? 6-7? What if we were to pull off the improbable and beat UConn?
Beat Temple: 7 seed and Temple drops to 8
Beat UConn: Automatic Bye to the Sweet 16.

not looking good tonight. Does a loss knock us out of the ncaa tourney?
A loss would have put them squarely on the bubble and watching mid-major tournaments like a hawk. A win puts us squarely in the tourney.

If we are a 8/9 wouldn't that put us out of uconn's bracket since conference foes are not allowed to meet until the elite 8 especially since the American would only send 3 maybe 4
Definitely 3: UConn, Temple, and USF. Tulane blew it against UCF, and UCF didn't have the OOC schedule. It's a shame, because they've been stellar this last month.

I think, despite our collective disappointment, that the team stands exactly where the experts all said they'd be: 3rd place in a (hopefully) 3-bid conference.
I agree with CJF's assessment: 2 road games against sub-150 RPI teams; if the team loses either of those, sayonara NCAA tournament, aloha WNIT. If they lose before the semi-finals of the AAC, I'd say the same thing.

To be expected in a rebuilding year. Sky has not fallen, we'll be OK.
As I was leaving the parking lot, I was thinking this exact thing, that I personally thought this team was destined for a deep WNIT run based on its youth and the AAC being a tougher conference, particularly Temple. I thought that 2018 the team would return to the NCAA, and in 2019 with Laksa as a Sr. we'd have a top-4 seed and host a couple of games. 20-5 is nothing to sneeze at, and they have a chance to sweep the 3rd best team in the conference Sunday.
-
Just getting back from the game; the team was outplayed tonight; UCF exploited the USF's inability to play against a physical team, and knocked them around for 3 quarters. They got offensive boards, drew fouls, forced ridiculous turnovers, and did everything right tonight.
Suddenly, the Temple game becomes massive; lose that one, and they're looking at a 20-6 record with 3 sub-100 losses (1 at home), 1 win against a top 25 team and 3 wins against the top 50; is that the resume of a team that earns an NCAA bid?

How can UCONN (per/TBP criteria*) be a rivalrysince we have never beaten them
* remember UCF wasn't a rivalry in football here in the pen, because they had never beaten us. 4-0!!
Parity in College Football or men's b-ball is so much greater than it is in Women's College Basketball, look at the number of upsets in the first round of the women's bracket vs. the men's bracket; UConn is so much further away from even the 10th ranked team, it's silly. UConn's rival until Geno retires will be the Connecticut Sun.

By beating Miami 6-5 in Wesley Chapel. They face top-seeded FGCU today, winner gets to play the UCF v. UTampa winner for the championship
Hey BubbaBull, were you there? Any other eyewitness accounts? Here's the scoop from TDS
I was there Friday night; the new arena's going to be great, but it's definitely a bare-bones operation at the moment; no snack bar, no elevator (the rink is on the second floor); but the seating is great, and the rink is really nice.

They need these next 3 games at home desperately; Tulane, UCF, and Temple.

Everyone has an off night and this one was.
Absolutely; unfortunately, ours came against a 10-12 Memphis squad; this essentially squashed any chance to host a first-round game. I wouldn't consider this team on the bubble...yet. A loss to SMU this week would do that, though.

Biggest win of the season!
USF RPI is now #24 and control their own destiny.
USF just needs to hold serve at home against both Temple RPI #31 and Tulane RPI #35 and not lose any other games against much inferior conference teams.
It's now looking much better for USF to go dancing again..
http://warrennolan.com/basketballw/2017/conference/American-Athletic
I said after the Louisville loss, the only way for us to have a shot at a top-4 seed is to win out every single game except for UConn and enter the tournament 29-5; if USF does what it has to from this point forward, we could be looking at a couple of home games.

Great win for a team that has definitely had its' share of struggles as of late; the injury bug spares no great team, but this team isn't giving up on the lofty expectations they had for this season. Tuesday is a huge game against UCF, essentially deciding who has the inside lane on second place in the AAC.
