  1. Now that I think about it, you were probably referring to the story called "Claude Davis Still Committed to USF", thats an interview with him and it talks about his visit to the Ville and some other things.

I thought you were talking about the most recent "Quick Hits", I talk about him more in depth in that one.

    Josh Newberg

Yeah I was referring to the interview story about the Ville visit but thanks for letting me know that I need to check out USFNation after this!!!

  2. Jatavious Jackson who would be a great get for us on the o-line rated his visit this weekend a 9 (per scout).  He still has visits to clemson and LSU and he has not really given a leader as of yet.  I really hope the staff stays on him because he would be a great get.

He'd be a great pick up but I got the feeling after I read that article that someone is feeding him good PR lingo.  I expect him to go elsewhere.

  3. This is a great get!  The best part of it is he isnt taking anymore visits or anything! this weekend is huge!

    5'11" and runs a 4.4

sounds like a possible ean randolph replacement to me  :)

The size and speed would be pretty good for CB also which is how Scout has him listed.

  4. I love this kids versatility and he is a solid get.  What a great weekend.

His offensive stats are amazing and I really like that USF is starting to get more and more recruits out of GA.  That was a big part of FSU's success in the 90's and after CMR left to GA, their recruiting dried up in the region.  Great pick up!!!

  5. he needs to decide soon or there will be no scholie left

USF will keep the scholarship available to him...

    why?

will he be a starter (4-5 star)when he arrives?

if not why hold the scholie, if you have another player who wants to be here and commits?

    is he that good?

Him and Sinclair have the most potential out of every high school recruit that we have interest in or have a verbal from at this poing IMO.

And from what I've read on Josh's site, we're not going after too many other DEs...

Please post any errors you see on this thread... and i will get them fixed.

I threw this together based on the official roster on gousfbulls.com crossed with ET's preview thread on the main board.

    Robert,

I think you have Mompremier and Robinson in the wrong places.  It's been reported that Robinson will take over for Nicholas at Strong Side and Mompremier will take over for St. Louis at Weak Side.

Wouldn't be surprised to see McKenzie jump into the mix for starting strongside...

  7. It ain't how you start it is how you finish.  We will be considered a top 30 team next year going into the season.   We will have plenty of opportunity to show on the field what we can do.   The polls are an odd emotional driven entity seldom driven by factual analysis.

    Not complete true!!

If you don't start somewhere near the top in the beginning, you're journey up is twice as hard.

  8. Scout.com has DE Darren Powe listed as a verbal commitment.  I seem to recall from the D-Line thread that there was some issues as to the validity of this commitment but I believe it Josh that was reporting the issue at that time.  I can't check it out right now because the D-Line thread isn't opening for me.

  9. Saban is at Alabama to stay. His heart is in college coaching. Just because he can't make it in the pros, doesn't mean he's not a great coach ... Suprrier, Carrol anyone??

He just missed bringing in the kids and teaching them to be great young men and then sending them off to the NFL and beyond.

Like all the shows were saying, it's easier for a college coach because he brings in 20 or so recruits he hand picks every year and molds them into what he wants. Int he NFL, you get 6 picks a year and for Miami, the only guy he picked that was worth anything turned out to be crowder.

One of the main reasons he left the Fins is because of his wife. She wasn't a fan of the Miami life and she's a small town person. Saban will have everything going for him in Alabama.

I think he did the Dolphins a favor by leaving because i don't feel he had control of this team. He was a master of controling kids in college, but when it came to every aspect of the NFL, he couldn't handle it, their egos are just too big.

Im rooting for him to do well in Bama and prove people wrong. I just want him to do it without Marve and Ford :)

...and the guaranteed $40 million didn't hurt.

Saban's track record shows that he is never satisified.  After a couple of years, other coaches will be making more and Saban will jump ship again for the money.

We sold 26K for the McNeese game this year. We sold 45K for UCF last year. Not twice as much ....

McNeese State was the home opener...If it had been the second game of the season, no way as many people would have shown up for a division 2A matchup.

.... and as the beatdowns continue, less and less Kanigits will want to make the trip to see their team get their asses handed to them so the attendance gap will widen. Although, if they want to do 2 for 1's with us, that may be ok.

So USF should schedule them as the season opener. No disagreement that competition level is one-sided but as you pointed out, 45K > 26K.  Leaving them on the schedule also is benefitical right now because we definitely looked upon as a team that doesn't travel well. Consider UCF our fan bases' training wheels....it's a short trip for the casual fan. They'll get hooked on the away game atmoshere (like everyone here has that's been to one) and the number of fans that travel will grow.  I know UCF was my first away game and I had so much fun that I dragged some family with me to the bowl game.  My father had a blast there and as soon as the the schedule is posted, he and I are gameplanning a trip to Pitt.  I also have friends that are going with me to the FIU game and I'm already trying to talk up people for a road trip to see Auburn. All it took was for me to finally go to one.

From what little we saw, I would expect him to fight for a starting spot and may get it with 4 wide sets. But would definately be in there in 2008.

Greg's Blog said a couple of weeks ago that redshirt freshmen Carlton Mitchell, Jason Sherman, Ed Alcin and A.J. Love along with sophmore Jessie Hester were already expected to be pushing the returning players for playing time.

Greg also reported that Carlton Hill stated that if he came back it wouldn't be until the fall semester which gives these kids the chance to earn the available spots in spring practices.
