  1. Too funny.  You think the BCS system doesn't work ?  This gets more press then anything for over a month.  The money is huge and they will tweek it to bring in even more money.  Play-off  fair  right.  8/16/32  i don't care it won't always give you the best team.  Do you guys really think Boise is better then OK ?  They were one night but no way can all those good things happen to one team that often.

I am going to just enjoy the Bowl games and laugh at all this crazy talk about play-offs.  32 teams - too funny.

Oklahoma is better than BSU?  That's funny.  They got dominated last night.  OU was a couple of very lucky breaks away from losing big.  What the hell makes you think OU is better than BSU?

  2. and the wonderful 1-A bowl system be damned as long as you get a #1 team then all is right in the world?

Maybe that's where you and I differ, S._Bien.  You think the Bowl system is wonderful, and I see it as largely meaningless and bloated.  Any pretense of history and tradition that the bowls might have once claimed to have had went out the window when they signed up for the BCS itself.  Conference affiliations became a little more trivial and everything else became second to the almighty dollar.  Where was Tostitos in 1942?  LOL  How about the glory days of the Continental Tire Bowl?  What about the pomp and pageantry of Meineke Car Care?

  3. Then what are you suggesting that a playoff system, which is never going to happen, will be far more just and equitable?

Why are we arguing this?  It's never going to happen, right? ;D

Let's see if this blows your mind....Auburn is better than Florida.  Now argue against that.

  4. I'd like to see them go back to the original bowl system with the plus one on top of that, that rotates among the big 4 bowl sites. This way everyone is pre-BCS happy and we get a national championship game...but I still think in the plus one we'd have the who is number 2 argument.

The joke of it is we'll never not have an argument.  Every system has it's flaws and someone is always 'screwed'.  That's the irony of this whole thing.  The media folks that write their ignorant laced articles don't realize how truly equitable the BCS is, and that it's probably the closest they'll have to a perfect system.  Instead of beating it up without any cogent reasoning they should work on tinkering suggestions like talking more about the 'plus one' or about ranking the bowls by quality points to reward conferences and better determine a truer SOS.

The point of adding teams is that the more teams that have a shot, the more likely that the best team in the country will win.  Conventional wisdom would have you believe the opposite, but the cream typically rises to the top.  And some people refuse to believe that the best team in the country may be ranked 9th, or 15th, or whatever.

To support the BCS, you have to believe that the BCS rankings are incredibly accurate, or that they will only screw it up every once in a while, and that, to me, is ridiculous.

If it's settled on the field, there is absolutely no cause for an argument.

  5. First, let me preface this by saying the bowl system isn't going anywhere.  I know this for nearly a fact and it's well etched in stone.

I love that argument.  The best way to stop a playoff from happening is to get people to stop asking for it.  LOL  Well, I know for a fact that people are not going to stop screaming for a playoff.  No matter how many money-hungry power brokers try to shut up the masses and tell them that their opinions don't matter.

The two best teams in the nation from beginning to end are playing on January 8th, to suggest otherwise is a stupid, ignorant semantical argument.  It's foolish to compare any other school and suggest their body of work for the entire season was better than OSU's and UF's.

...unless you have a different opinion.  For example, I bet Auburn fans don't think Florida is one of the best two teams in the country.  Ole Miss played Auburn tougher than UF did.

Sorry, but there can be nothing more subjective than the choosing of the top two teams, even if only the most brilliant minds in America are the ones choosing.

  6. ...John david booty doesnt underthrow recivers when they are behind defenders like OU's were all night.

LOL   Riiight.  Oh, you mean against Michigan he didn't.  I have a feeling he's thrown a few bad balls before, Musberger.

Here's my argument...Booty-61.7% comp percentage  144.01 QB rating.  Zabransky-66.3% comp percentage  162.57 QB rating.

  7. 3.) For the NC share, no the BCS is the current system and you have to be in the BCS championship game to win.  As for being ranked #2 i think they could be in consideration but after what USC did today i cant see them being any better than 3rd.

Is that the same USC team that LOST to two unranked teams?  Is USC good?  Yes, but number 2 in the nation... I don't think so.

Yes but its the same USC that would beat BSU by atleast 2 scores.  Record wise they are a better team but as for actual play USC is a better team than BSU.

Bullspit, the same opinion that is exactly what the BCS shovels down our throats.  If I'm not mistaken, BSU beat Oregon State.

There is no evidence whatsoever that says USC is better than BSU.  There is none that says BSU is better than USC.  But that's the point;  it's all opinion and it can only be decided on the field, so why can't BSU have a shot?

  8. I couldn't imagine him leaving... sheesh... isn't this a little crazy? This guy just won the game of his life, school history and ESPN is already talking about him going somewhere else!  >:(

You got that right, that sh$t is garbage.  The first thing out of some tools mouth after giving the final score is "where will he be coaching next".  Why should he leave?  What a bunch of asses.

Maybe next time he goes undefeated he'll want to play for the National Championship Game and not struggle to get into a BCS one?

Or maybe he has some balls, a backbone, and some integrity and wants to be a part of the solution instead of the problem.

But you're probably right.  ESPN owns us.

  10. HarveyGlass- I just noticed your avatar. How on earth did you come to be? I'm a bull starting to grow a few feathers myself...only bc of the boyfriend though! lol

Good for you, chicky9914.  The feathers will help soften the blow when the basketball team routinely gets spanked this year. ;D

I'm from Louisville and a long line of Louisville fans, but I lived in the Bay Area for 4 or 5 years and went to USF for one in 96.  So I've got a lot of respect and appreciation for what's going on down there, especially when the Bulls beat the Cards every other year.

  11. The BCS is the exact same sham that we had before.  The "winners" are selected via popularity.  That's the way it's always been.

The only difference is that now, more money is being funneled to the bigger schools in a bid to widen the gap between the haves and the have-nots.

Just like the American economy. ;)

  12. Great game tonight for the bulls.  Gransberry had a fantastic game, and Mattis looks like a player.

Louisville's second conference game is at the SunDome after what I'm sure will be an emotional game at Notre Dame.  And I'm smelling upset.

And somebody tell CRM that it's time to let the hair go.  It ain't coming back.  Shave it, man.

Also, great freaking win against the Purple Pirates.  I watched it in Greenville, NC and loved every minute of it. 8-)

  13. It's about tradition, not being hip or cool.

The HOT plays it far too long after the game ends. Most people have left already, except for us few who know its coming. I also get strange looks for singing the Alma Mater before and after the game.

It's about someone else's tradition.  Not everyone plays their alma-mater after games.

USF, being so new, is in a very unique position.  They should use that as an advantage.  Instead of just cherry-picking other schools worn-out and overdone "traditions", they should start new ones.  Go forward and do things that other schools don't do, and be proud that they don't do them; yet.

USF will never have anything on the Texas's and Ohio State's if they just adopt their exact same "traditions" 150 years after they've started them.  I really think the way for USF to go is foward, not back.  We're never going to have the history that they have.  In 100 years, they'll still be doing things 150 years longer than we have.

That's just my two cents; stay away from copying other schools, that's what they want.
