It  seems to me that charging a donation fee for season tickets turns would be season ticket purchasers away. I wonder how many people call the ticket office for season tickets only to find out about the donation then decide not to purchase.

I understand the money provides funding for other athletic related programs but as I read in the beginning of this thread people just get groups together to purchase season tickets and split the donation.

Could the donation be constructed to charge a smaller donation on each seat the purchaser would not even know a portion goes to the bulls club ? Just add it in sell more season tickets build the fan base and fill the stadium.

Capper, I don't think the term "donation" is driving people away.  People are mostly bottom-line -- "What do I have to pay for this seat?"  Call it a tax, call it a Fee, call it an assessment (to use an example from our real lives), it is how much we have to take out of our pockets that gets our attentions.  To see what the effect of taking every available seat and dividing that into the total donations available from selling every seat in the various sections -- that would do away with those seats not requiring a donation and probably increase substantially those seats which are most popular with our current fan base.  We have many seats which require >$1000 donation.  Splitting all the donations into every seat takes away people's choices and would start a riot for the best seats.

Am I misunderstanding what you propose?

Obviously the more desirable seats would be more expensive currents season ticket holders and bulls club donors would keep the rights to their seats.

My thoughts are strictly to structure how the bulls club gets their money. Would it not make more sense to generate the donation money in total volume (people in the seats) ??? other then a few seats with high donors.

What is the point to having to pay $500 to $3500 donation on top of the regular price for football season tickets.?? Seems very stupid to me....  

Like all schools, those donations provides funding for certain types of athletic related programs.  As Eric points out, the annual giving is now about $1.5million.  Those that wish to make the donations in order to help athletics can do so, and the school divides the stadium and sundome up so as to provide better seats to bigger donors.  You can get season tickets without a donation if that is your preference.

This is my 2nd year as a bb season ticket holder. I think I paid $540 for 2 seats in sec A2 some of the best money I have ever spent.  Any seating in the lower levels requires a donation.  

Let's stop for a second and look at the X's & O's.

Our players are not prepared to play D1 ball.   Have you seen our offense?  Our players look like they've never seen a 2-3 zone.

Example - Ricmond comes out in a zone and the players look puzzled.  We pass the ball around a couple of times on the perimeter and the result is Bozeman throwing up a bad shot w/ 2 seconds on the shot clock time after time.

How about our out of bounds plays.  I don't think I've ever seen one pass and a basket.  It's always the same pass to half court and then setting up the offense.  This isn't a great example, but it shows his hoops knowledge - high school level.

Richmond put on a clinic of how to play basketball and it was actually fun to watch.  Maybe one day...

Finally, it's not "USF bashing" to recognize that someone is ineffective at doing their job.  I am a season ticket holder and will not accept mediocrity.

Maybe it was the fact that Richmond go back so well on defense and forced us into a half court set. Defiantly need work in the half court. Major work....

Instead KU rushed the offense on the field and snapped the ball... Credit to the KU coaching staff and an obvious mistake by Leavitt and company.

If the call on the field was in fact incorrect (or even that close), then the replay official should have called for a review immediately after reviewing the play.  Leavitt should not have had to call a timeout.  That TO was so crucial to our offense that we could not afford to expend it with the risk of no review.  Regardless of what you say, we cannot be guaranteed that the play in question would be reviewed if a timeout was called.  In conclusion, this mistake lies at the feet of the replay officials, not CJL.

You are correct the reply officials should have reviewed the play. However, sometimes you have to force the hand especially on the road in a very tight game that's why I give KU credit for rushing the offense on the field and snapping the ball.

Leavitt is quoted as saying he thought the knee was down and he thought about calling a time out. He is the head coach and has to make those decisions.

Bottom line is they lost the game unfortunately, maybe making the split second decision to call the time out late in the forth quarter would have made for a different outcome.

I personally think he should have called the time out and taken the chance ... However, I can understand your point also...

I think the game was lost when Leavitt didn't challenge  RB Walt Smith knee was down before fumbling... He is quoted in the paper that he thought the knee was down. Apparently he would rather save a time out then challenging the call and maintaining possession. I was shocked Leavitt didn't challenge.

Bulls opened as 6 point dogs....  I just looked up on bodog and the game is off the board...
