As with most things, I am old school, literally.

I think we're more drawn to the nostalgia of these than their actual appearance. These were the uniforms of players with heart!

That being said, I think the new ones are nice. I've always loved a white helmet. We gotta learn to keep up with the fashion trends of the kids.

  2. As a Bulls fan, college football season sure is lonely around these parts.  I'm looking to maybe get some fans together at a pub in NYC/Long Island to catch some of the games this season.  Would anyone be interested?  I'm in central Suffolk, but would be more than willing to take the train into NYC, do some pre-gaming and chill out. :GoBulls:

NYC Bull here. Would love to get together this coming season. Shoot me a PM, and we can exchange E-mails.

  3. Heres what I have seen so far nothing appears solid but there is discussions/protecting themselves all around.

Supposedly 1 team has notified ACC that it's taking to another conference per new agreement. It sounds like FSU is marketing itself and 3 other schools as a package deal to B1G, SEC, and Big 12 (being last option 4th, behind ACC being held together)

All signs point to that GT is being discussed for B1G for 2 reasons 1. TV Market 2. Possible enticement to ND to join other options are of course BC, UNC and UVA - ACC would trade BC for UConn tomorrow, imo but who would be 16?

Supposedly UNC/Duke want to stay together and thus marketing themselves to SEC as package deal, would give UK, Duke and UNC for Bball which would be huge, issue is UNC/Duke in one state not 2.

Also Gator bowl head Rick Catlett is chiming in practically stating GT/UVA to B1G & UNC/Duke to SEC.

unc and duke would never ever go to the sec. they do not want anything to do with that conference.

Sure - and there is no way the academic prestige in the ACC would ever pass on UConn and take ohhh say a Lousville - opps already happened. At this point I don't think anything is out of the realm of possibility.

And you're going to tell me that Clemson and NC State are prestigious?

  4. I forgot to mention how soft the OL is too

The OL isn't bad, Rutgers just stuck with their gameplan to blitz, blitz, blitz. We just don't have a QB that can settle his feet and find the open guy.

Absolutely correct. BJ can't just sit in the pocket and deliver an accurate throw.

Yep. He immediately scrambles to one sideline or th eother the second he gets the ball. It's so frustrating. On top of that, he already knows which player he is going to before the snap. So many times there was a receiver wide open, and he throws in to coverage.

  5. I was trying decide which game to go to...Nevada or Philly.....we finally decided on Philly so me and the wife can visit New York also for the first time! Any info on transit from Philly to NY would be awesome!

Fly into Philly, take the train to NY, and fly home from NY.

Forget the train. Take with the BoltBus or MegaBus. You'll pay about $20 for a round trip ticket. 2 hour ride.

I live in New York and plan on going to this game. I'll be utilizing the bus.

  6. I'm sure this has been posted, but I don't follow the board day in and day out like I do when season is in. But can anyone fill me in on the guys that practice on the intramural fields? Are they walk-ons, high school team or what? I walk by them everyday on my way to class, and watch for a few minutes. They got some big boys out there. And I've also noticed some pretty good kickers.

check out the "U" tattoo on Tyler Robert's left arm.

    Awesome!!

Sweet! In a weird way, doesn't it kind of validates the "iconic bull" choice? Not sure we'd ever see the old rocky logo or the "robo-bull" logo being sported on a guy's arm. Good call on that one... 8-)

Hey we're the U with horns. That icon has staying power.

Will actually be getting a tattoo of it myself once I graduate. Except mine will say Class of '08 under it. I love that logo, and I hope it's here to stay.

  8. Let Grothe do what he does best. He is a GREAT college QB. With his ability to run, throw, and make those decisions, he could lead a team to a championship. I think it will be even more effective with upgrades and health at the RB position. He's too short to be a pocket passer, and I think it will take away from his value. It's not often you find someone special like this, so you have to let him play his style since in college football there seems to be more leeway in doing so.
