  1. Calhoun's team played a really inspired game yesterday, right on the heels of getting the #1 curse. Big East coaches have very few games in conference they can lock down as automatic wins every year. Finishing .500 in this conference is seen as a good thing! The UConn's of the world need the USF's of the world for those easy wins to pad their overall and in conference records. Patronizing McCullum, in my view, by saying such things about him are an insult to the school and to all of us USF supporters.
  2. McCullum's a good man and he can coach. Sadly, in this day and age that's not enough, and especially in a take no prisoners league like the Big East. Talking about this is kind of stuff is why blogs exist. When people stop talking and move on to other items of interest, it will take care of itself. For now, let's just have fun with it and not take it too seriously. At least for me, it's not so much about being against McCullum, it's what's best for the university now that it has made its bed in the Big East.
  3. It seems my comments regarding Bob Huggins and Robert McCullum have ruffled a few feathers...so sorry. But, playing the game of blog should be fun, shouldn't it? After all, we're all USF fans, passionate about our school and want to see better days ahead. How we get there is the question. Oh wait, it's my turn to roll the dice...shoot, "go directly to jail." Just my luck! And, I thought I held the "monopoly" on this site!?!?! I'm happy to hear your criticism and support. It tells me you are reading, watching and thinking. But, none of us should take each other too seriously...it's just a blog, 'er game, for goodness sake.

  5. Basketball is a business...wake up yee feeble-minded people! What do you think boosters do with their extra pocket change? Did you notice the logos on uniforms, or hear about the shoe contracts that all coaches cash in on? What about those pretty corporate logos on the scoreboards or scrolling marguis' at the scorer's tables. Money rules the roost, and why wouldn't he and his peeps put out feelers. Huggins has connections east, west, north and south, and he has strong corporate ties to some Fortune 500 companies. They see Huggins as a means to market their products and services to USF & Florida faithful. What's wrong with that, especially if it means the school gets much needed upgrades in facilities that benefit not just the basketball teams, but other students as well? Acting as if this is a big deal, you should be ashamed of yourself. Or, rather, maybe you should do a reality-check. These are the rules that all coaches play by - Huggins shouldn't be expected to be any different.
  6. Once upon a time, an ignorant AD hired an overmatched head coach toiled through the woods, scratching each other's back as they foraged for food to eat...you know, to survive. One day, they ran into a hunter. He had weapons, he had knowledge and they quickly began to fear him. The hunter told them to leave the forest, because they were no match for the coming Red Storm, Scarlet Knights, Orangemen, Wildcats, Bearcats and other beasts. Seeking advice, they asked the Friars, "are we welcome in the forest, or should we leave?" The Friars said, "follow the Cardinal, go past the Boneyard and exit the forest. Along the way, you may feast on goose eggs, and satisfy your need for food. When you reach the forest's edge, yell out HOYA. This will be the signal that you have come to understand your fate, and you will then allow the fittest to lead your herd of Bulls into the promised land." The moral of the story...leave the big decisions - the big challenges - to those who can handle them. The fittest will survive. The weakest animals will become assistant coaches or take their trade to a mid-major conference, where they can be more successful.
  7. Bob Huggins is the ticket to big time in the Big East.  A killer recruiter, Huggins would bring USF the talent it's lacked from day 1 and a huge national persona to a program that can't put enough bodies in the seats to raise the building temperature.  It's time to wake up.  If this program is going to put W's up in a conference that takes no prisoners, like the Big E, we've got to have a coach who can put a product on the floor that represents.  Huggins has a condo in Clearwater, loves the bay area and can bring great players to Tampa.  One who's watching right now is a 7-footer in Jacksonville.  There are others watching to see where he ends up.  McCullum is a nice guy and a good coach, but he can't do it here.  USF is a lot like UC.  What's everybody think?
